School Spirit Applique Letters
Express your school spirit with letters appliqued onto a quilt sporting your school's colors! Note:Each letter should measure approximately 5" tall for use as monograms on our "School Spirit" quilt which appears in the September/October 2001 issue (#81) of Quiltmaker magazine.

To applique your letters, trace the outer line of each reversed letter on the paper side of a fusible web product. Then make a separate tracing on each letter's inner line. Following the manufacturer's instructions, fuse the webbing to the wrong sides of the chosen fabrics. Cut out each letter on the drawn line, peel away the paper and arrange the wider letters on the patch. Center narrower letters over the wider ones and fuse. Using a close, medium-width satin stitch, and thread to match each letter, sew over the raw edges of the applique.
