As Interactive Editor for Quiltmaker, it’s a privilege to “meet” our readers daily on the internet. I work remotely from rural Nebraska to connect us with quilters all over the world and to generate some of our online content. I manage the QM Scrap Squad, our blog tours and our Quilt-Alongs. I teach a variety of classes locally and occasionally I lecture for Quiltmaker. I have one of the best jobs in the world.
I've been sewing since I was nine years old, and one of the few things I enjoy as much as sewing is writing. These two passions merge in the happiest way through my job at Quiltmaker.
My quilting roots go back to Nebraska, where I learned to sew in 4-H and began quilting when my children were small. I wanted to meet other quilters, so I started a guild in Norfolk, Nebraska, and taught basic quiltmaking at a community college.
Those first experiences were very positive for me, and they fueled my desire to continue stretching myself creatively, something I have been working at ever since.
I love traditional quilts and am always attracted to antique quilts and reproduction fabrics, but I'm also interested in art quilts. My style is funky and eclectic, and I am most satisfied when I create a piece that's original and one-of-a-kind.
Being part of the team that brings QM to life is a lot of fun—the best job I can imagine!
