Find a new easy-to-piece pal in each issue of Quiltmaker in 2011 and 2012. Simple pictures of adorable animals are made from mostly squares and half-square triangles, with an occasional quarter-square triangle. The crib quilts in this collection will all be the same size and their borders are interchangeable, making it easy to customize your project. Makes a great baby or shower gift!
See samples of swapped borders and a panda option.
All Patch Pal quilts are designed by Denise Stark and the QM staff.

Every month, “This Just In” will showcase fresh products you'll find at your local quilt shop. Check back often to see the latest and greatest the quilting world has to offer.

QM staff were joined by authors Charlotte Angotti and Debbie Caffrey for this year's Staff Challenge to put the guidelines found in their book Surprise Yourself into action. We could use 4 basic units—Four Patch, half- and quarter-square triangles and Flying Geese—finishing at 3", 6", 9" or 12", along with squares and rectangles. Armed with a fabric line from one of our fabric partners, we each played with the shapes and went where our designing hearts took us.
