marking quilting motifs

Hi all-
I would like to know what you think is the best method for marking a printed quilt motif to a top. I have tried sewing through freezer paper and creating my own stencils, both with questionable success. Is there another way?

There is a product that is very much like bridal tulle that you mark the design onto. Then you trace the design onto your quilt through the tulle like product.
