Quilt Market Report – Friendship Triangles

Edyta Sitar (Laundry Basket Quilts), fabric designer for Moda Fabrics and author of the new book Friendship Triangles, organized a fun exchange with other Moda designers. Each of the different designers made triangle-squares that they shared with each other plus more to give away at market.  I collected autographed triangle-squares from the different designers along with a copy of Edyta’s book, published by Landauer Publishing that we’ll be giving away.

Greetings from Quilt Market 2009

The first day of Quilt Market and we are meeting with fabric companies. Before our meeting with Lissa Alexander of Moda Fabrics, we stopped by the booth of one of their designers, Barb and Mary of Me and My Sister Designs. They know how to have fun.

Barb-and-Mary

Me-and-My-SisterThe weather is cloudy and rainy in Houston, but warm and sunny in their booth.

We’ll show you more from the floor at Quilt Market later.

IQA Quilt: A World of Beauty Preview: Whimsical

One of the fun things I get to do in Houston each year is present the awards to the winners of the Whimsical category in the quilt show because Quiltmaker sponsors this category. The presentations are held Tuesday night. When I have a  little spare time from being on the Market floor, I always make sure that I’ve seen the Whimsical category–I hope to have time to see the whole show before the awards ceremony.

I thought I’d share my first brief glimpse on Saturday afternoon of the Whimsical quilts. I hope to get back soon to see more details in this category and to see the remaining quilts–such inspiration!

10/12/09 Update: Today I discovered that I missed a whole section of whimsical quilts–10 more of them.  I got pictures and I’ll add them to the post as soon as I get a chance to edit them.
