Giving Hearts: We just adore this gorgeous appliqué block designed by Margaret Willingham. Many of Margaret’s designs are inspired by the craftsman’s work of the Victorian Era, and the lovely stencil-like scroll design on this block is just stunning.

Starry Pines: ’Tis the season to make a holiday quilt, and Jennifer Oden’s fun block featuring Christmas trees and stars is such a perfectly festive design. The fabrics used on the block are from the Basically Patrick line designed by Patrick Lose for RJR Fabrics.

    I absolutely loved Roses Squared and would have liked to tell Connie Sue Haidle but there was no way I could see to comment on her blog post. She also gave a link to needle turn applique and why it doesn’t work for some people. One of those people is me and I have bookmarked it so I can watch it and hopefully get the help I need as I would love to be able to make her block.

    I had a hard time picking between Shelley Cavana’s block at Cora’s Quilts (love the orange peels!) and Bonnie Hunter’s Straights of Mackinac block with all it’s lovely scrappiness. I also love star blocks, so that’s another plus for Bonnie! But I also really want to try curved piecing and I love Shelley’s layout with the big orange peels, so a plus there. I guess I just cannot choose a favorite today!
