This quilt measures just 39″ x 39″. It’s small enough to be adorable but the piecing is still very doable because it’s simple. This is definitely one to try!

Magazine Beads by Victoria Eapen for Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 5

Perhaps you’ve been thinking of making something with a “modern” bent. Paula Stoddard, Associate Editor for QM, took Magazine Beads by Victoria Eapen, above, and created Here a Scrap, There a Scrap.

Wouldn’t this be a fun quilt to make?! The fabrics are all from P&B Textiles.

Night Lights is another Denise Starck design exuding quilt modernism. Denise took Summer Heat, a block by Elizabeth Balderrama and Kate Colleran for Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 8, and reduced it.

Then she played around with the two block sizes and a scattered setting to come up with this galaxy of fun.

  1. Lyn says:

Your books look so lovely with all the wonderful patterns, being a sewer for years but only new to quilting I would love to win one.

  2. Flor Chavarria says:

I learned of quilt maker from other quilter friends on facebook.
Thank you for entering me in the contest

  3. Susan says:

QM really does rock the blocks. I loved the quilts with a solid or poka dot background.

  4. Sandy says:

Eclectic describes my quilting style. I prefer to make quilts with large numbers of different fabrics and will buy kits when I like a quilt but don’t feel like collecting fabrics by the fat quarter or many different amounts.

  5. Nancy Johnson says:

I’m new to quilting and want to explore applique and “piecing in the hoop” patterns on my new Pfaff embroidery machine. Love some of the patterns in this issue.

  6. Nancy Johnson says:

I’m new to quilting, so I haven’t developed a quilting style yet. I’m learning how to applique and want to explore “piecing in the hoop” on my new Pfaff embroidery machine. Love some of the patterns in this issue and hope I win a copy of it.

  7. Mary says:

What a wealth of Knowledge in that book…..I’d read every single word many times. Everyone wants to win a copy, and add me to the list!!!!

  8. Fran C. says:

My quilting style is traditional but I also love African fabrics, Australian fabrics, and modern fabrics. I am evolving.

  9. Hilda Krebs says:

Right now I am into hexagons

  10. Kathy says:

My quilting style? A little of this, a litle of that:) Whatever my most recent class was about. I especially like paper piecing (right now!)

  11. Karen Spiller says:

I love looking at Quiltmaker magazine. I wish that it came out every month. I like to make quilts out of leftover scraps from my sewing projects. I am always working on several quilts at a time. Some are hand pieced and some are machine pieced. I hand and machine quilt. I have made over 100 quilts for Project Linus. It doesn’t take much time or effort to make one of these quilts but means so much to the children. Thank you for such a great magazine.

  12. Lynda Bergman says:

I only discovered quilting about 5 years ago. Since then I have been busy making quilts for family and friends. I still have to make me one. I am always hearing that one of my long distance friends is sick, so it’s off to the fabric shop for more inspiration and supplies. Getting a quilt seems to work better than sending flowers. They love them. I always thought that I was a Traditional quilter, but lately I have found that scrappy quilting seems to be my thing. Such lovely fabrics and the colours are wonderful. As I have chronic arthritis, I am finding I am collecting a lot of precut fabrics (fat quarters, layer cakes, etc. )to help with the bulky cutting and mix with the yardage. Your block designs are a godsend for this. Love the magazine. Always wait for it here in Australia.

  13. Louise Buker says:

I like to do all kinds of quilts. Mostly I do quilts with large pieces due to health problems. I can still enjoy doing quilts and getting them done even with my arthritis and Fibromyalgia. I am getting ready to make a quilt for a nephew who is getting married this fall. Thanks.

  14. Molly Christie says:

I’ve been quilting for about 16 years. I’m drawn to traditional quilting patterns, but also enjoy needle turn applique, 30′s fabrics, Asian themed fabrics. Am excited how combining some blocks can result in an additional design. Also, love anything that looks difficult, but is not. I keep all my copies of Quiltmaker. So many quilts to make, so little time.

  15. beth daniels says:

I could make many quilts with this 100 blocks magazine. I would learn a lot about quilting doing them.

  16. Debby H says:

I am for the most part a traditional quilter. I like to make traditional patterns though I prefer to machine quilt them in all over patterns. I enjoy quilting and I also enjoy winning!

  17. Linda Jerome says:

I love the magazine and your block mag. I would love to win one. I love quilting

  18. Brenda Motl says:

I love working with bright and colorful fabrics……..have lately tried to work in
softer colors and doing pretty good with that so far.
Love your web site and definitely love your magazine which I am also a subscriber of.
Make a lot of baby quilts for friends and family. Try to donate one every quilt show that the quilt guild I belong to for an auction quilt at the end of the show. I am about to try and start working on a quilt for all my grandchildren (all 4 now and one more due in August) for Christmas……hope I can get it all done by then.
Keep the magazine as good as it is now and you will always have a great following.

Would love to win a prize!!!!!
