If you’re new here because you discovered us during the 100 Blocks Blog Tour, welcome! I’m so glad you’ve come back. If you’re a regular, I’m happy to see you, too. We have a lot of fun here. We learn, we ponder, we share great quilt-related topics of all sorts.
Many of the great 100 Blocks designers we visited last week are authors. Today I want to look at some of their books and have giveaways. There’s a nice stack of books here and I’ll send one to each of 12 winners. That’s one dozen lucky people—could include you! We’ll cover six books today and six in a separate post later this week.
Ring Around the Hexies by Bonnie K. Hunter and Mickey Depre (Kansas City Star Quilts, $14.95)
Both of these authors have blocks in Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 8. They are experienced designers with a great eye for color. They’ve joined forces for this booklet and I think you’ll love it. Put Bonnie’s signature scrappiness with Mickey’s pieced hexies and what’s not to love?! See Bonnie and Mickey’s Volume 8 block designs below.
S is for Stitch by Kristyne Czepuryk (Stash Books, $24.95)
Hand embroiders, listen up: Kristyne’s designs are charming and they look good no matter where you stitch them! Her block in Volume 8 includes embroidery and her stitches are so tiny and lovely! Lots of designs in this great title, and you can add them to quilts or onesies or whatever you like. Also available as an ebook, just $14.99. See Kristyne’s block for Volume 8 below.
Scrap-Applique Playground by Kay Mackenzie (That Patchwork Place, $22.99)
Kay Mackenzie’s applique patterns are downright fun. And in this book she takes things to a whole new level by sewing scraps together and then cutting applique patches from the resulting “fabric.” You won’t know which project to make first! Also available as an ebook, just $14.99. Kay’s Volume 8 block is below.
Solids, Stripes, Circles, and Squares by Pippa Eccles Armbrester (That Patchwork Place, $24.99)
Pippa Eccles Armbrester brings you 16 projects using solids for a clean, modern look. Her block in Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 8 (below) has the same vibe! If you’re looking to depart from a traditional look, this title will send you on your way. Also available as an ebook, just $16.99.
Springtime in the Rockies by Konda Luckau with Margie Ullery and others (Kansas City Star Quilts, $26.95)
Margie Ullery is one of eight designers featured in Konda Luckau’s Springtime in the Rockies. The quilt patterns vary widely and take advantage of each designer’s strengths. Margie’s whimsical style shines in her Mini Chick Pillows trimmed in rickrack. Other 100 Blocks designers from past volumes include Emily Herrick, Amy Smart and April Mazzoleni. Margie’s block for Volume 8 is below.
Twice as Nice by Kari M. Carr (That Patchwork Place, $22.99)
Kari Carr’s Twice as Nice means that for each project, you get a bonus project! Just sew a second seam when you’re doing easy corner triangles and like magic, another project gets a super head start! If you like traditional designs, these will excite you! Also available as an ebook, just $14.99. See Kari’s Volume 8 block below.
You can see how talented these designers are! They’ve worked hard and they’ve paid their dues—and we’re so happy to call them 100 Blocks Designers.
