Do you have your copy of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Vol. 8 yet? If not, then maybe our trio of blocks will inspire you to get your very own copy. Today 3 of our staff, Denise, Paula and Carolyn, are sharing their blocks from Vol. 8. They are all so different!
First up is me, Denise. I’m continuing my fleet of vehicles (click to see Bus Stop from Vol. 7 or Rescue No. 1 block from Vol. 6) with Mixmaster. All of my blocks made with scraps and are really fun and easy to piece.
I have a whole list of vehicles waiting to be designed and can’t wait to put them into a fun kids quilt someday. Keep reading to see what Paula created.
Hi there! I – Paula – kept to my usual style by making a block combining cotton fabric with wool applique. Love, love, love wool applique!
These wool appliqued snowmen and trees just pop on the crisp, bright white, teal and green fabrics. I really do love this block, and have some fun ideas for a pattern for Quilts From Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks, Fall 2014, so stay tuned!
Next up – Carolyn!
I – Carolyn – never know where inspiration for my next design is going to come from. Sometimes it comes from doodling on graph paper. Sometimes block designs are inspired by fabric I see. But the inspiration for my block in vol. 8 came when I saw the block Rollin’ Along by Kristy Wolf.
I loved her retro camper which made me think of camping in general.
I looked online for different tent designs and adapted the one that I liked. I also decided my tent needed to be set among the trees with some colorful wildflowers for a relaxing weekend getaway!
