About Diane Harris

I'm an editor for Quiltmaker magazine in Golden, Colorado, USA. For six years, I wrote pattern instructions, product reviews and how-to articles. Then I spent four years as QM's Interactive Editor, working to generate much of our online content. Now I'm back to patterns and how-tos, which is a great fit for me. I still love writing about quilt-related topics for Quilty Pleasures, and I always have my finger on the pulse of the quilting world. I teach a variety of quilt classes and give guild programs, too. I love the blog and all the sites I can jump in and out of. I love to see the use of different colors and the imagination of so many quilters. I feel like I’ve won everytime I go to a new page.

Thanks for sharing all the block ideas. I am a new quilter, less then a year. I am sure I will be quilting for many.

  4. Rose Braun says:

I love these blocks…. I am really a new quilter. I have been sewing and crafting for years, but quilting is so much better. Just getting started with new blocks. Each one done is such a reward. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Peggy Keirstead says:

I guess I am an advanced intermediate quilter. I love all aspects of quilting and would love to own a volume of 100 Blocks.

  6. Deb Contreras says:

I consider myself an intermediate to beginning advanced quilter. I have been quilting for over 7 years and have been head over heels in love with it since then.

I may not live long enough (unless to 100+) to enjoy making all the patterns I have with all the fabric I have. Choices, choices.

I love the Block Magazines with all the wonderful pattern ideas. I am looking forward to seeing the Book 8 soon. Yeah.

Thanks for putting more fun in my quilting hours.

  7. Arleen says:

I am an intermediate as well as beginning. I quilted when my kids were small and then got lost in other projects. Now with grandchildren I am back and I have found out how much I missed.
The info and prizes are fantastic and can’t believe the treasures.

  16. Stephanie Bullock says:

This is my first Blog Tour. I can’t believe how much information I am gathering, not to say how interesting the 100 Block magazine looks. Judging from the cover, it appears there will be applique blocks as well as pieced blocks. Fantastic, since I am a big applique fan, and you usually just don’t find applique blocks in a “block collection” publication. Of course, it would be a great bonus if I won something too!

  17. Anita Mitchell says:

Wow! Lots of new ideas here! I love it! <3 :-)

  18. Laura Wilson says:

I love this idea. I’m new to quilting, although I’ve been sewing for years, and I’ve found my passion. I took the “100 things a quilter should do” quiz and was happy to say that in less than 2 years I have done 58 of those items. I have yet to join a guild which I’m planning to do this month. I started making T-shirt quilts for family and friends and was encouraged to go into business. After some hemming and hawing, and deciding to lose my “perfection” mode, I launched a custom quilt business this past summer. I FMQ on my itty bitty Viking sewing machine. With three children in college, a larger machine is not in the cards anytime soon! But I can make it work, and have learned through lots of trial and error. More “error” if I tell the truth about it! The best thing I’ve bought is a really sharp seam ripper!!!

I love the generosity of my fellow quilters and hope to be able to contribute the same as I develop my skills. I particularly am challenged by applique–have yet to find the “perfect” method for me. I am a terrible hand sewer…just awful, so I’ve avoided that method of applique. I like the fusible method but have a hard time quilting through the glue and layers. The first block you show…the Hawaiian inspired block is something I’d love to tackle some day soon. It’s beautiful! Thank you for sharing all this information. As a “newbie” I appreciate any and all information I can gather.

  19. Karyn Ashley-Smith says:

This is one highly anticipated hop for me! LOVE it!!! I own every issue and look forward to the next like kids look forward to holidays! The blog hop is NOT to be missed!

  20. Full of excitement here! I can’t wait for the blog tour. It’s so much fun to be a part of this. Have a super day & see you all next week!

I’m ready! These are so full of information and ideas. While winning a prize is fantastic, the knowledge gained is so much better. Get ready to enjoy!
