Quilted Inspiration

In June of this year, I had the opportunity to visit the International Quilt Festival of Ireland with my mother, Beverly Holdren. For a little quilted inspiration, today I’m sharing some images from that show with you.

The show was held on the campus of the National University of Ireland in Galway. The exhibits were held in various buildings on campus. So beautiful!

I even ran into Quiltmaker’s dear friend Bonnie Hunter who was teaching at this event.

Here’s her quilt that was also on display. So many scraps!

The exhibits were wonderfully varied and they had lots of themes. There was a men’s exhibit, complete with white-gloved men in kilts!

This one was circular and very dimensional. Check out those hibiscus flowers! A lot of work for even one quilt, but she made two versions!

These two quilts were part of an exhibit of 70’s inspired designs.

The theme was “rain” for these two quilts. The applique was beautiful and fun.

In this photo, you can see how she layered raw-edge strips to create her design.

The dimensional flowers were made using cheesecloth and bottle caps – genious!

These sea-themed quilts were breathtaking.

This one was the Grand Prize winner. It was even more stunning and detailed in person.
