Several months ago, we announced on Facebook that we were looking for QM readers to work on a one-time project for us. It’s been my pleasure to work with the nine women we selected as the Back to School Sewing Team. I’m happy to introduce them to you this week during Quiltmaker’s Back to School Party.
Today’s featured sewer is Irene Chandler from Millsboro, Delaware.
Irene sewed with Simply Sweet fabrics by lief! Lifestyle for Quilting Treasures. Below is Irene’s finished Playground quilt.
Isn’t this another happy quilt?! Perfect for a little girl or tween. If you need a boy quilt, this line comes in a guy-type palette, too. The stripes give this quilt some nice movement. See how the binding was cut on the bias? Looks terrific.
Irene shared some thoughts with us:
I am excited for the Back to School project to be revealed online! It has been a lot of fun to be involved. I loved getting to peek into the lives of other quilters around the continent. Though geography makes our lives outside of quilting very diverse, we all speak the same language…quilting.
From the moment I got the invitation to participate I was excited about the project. My fabric arrived quickly and I was thrilled that it was appropriate for a girl’s quilt, since I have four granddaughters. I found the pattern easy to follow and it went together with no problem.
My youngest son was married in August which put other demands on my time, but I finished the quilt before the deadline! I work well under pressure! It was fascinating to see the same pattern in all the different fabrics and colors…everything from juvenile to very sophisicated…making it the perfect pattern for any occasion. Thank you for the opportunity!
