Welcome to Day 1 of Quiltmaker’s Back to School Party! I’m really glad you’re here. Every day this week will be full of fun! A free quilt pattern (sew along with us!), tips and techniques, freebies, giveaways, fabric sponsors and more will be featured. To get started, please see the “Getting Ready” post which includes the yardage.
There will be several posts each day of the party. Be sure to poke around so you don’t miss anything like a giveaway, a tip or a freebie. Toward the end of this post you’ll find the first of nine beautiful versions of Playground, each one from a different fabric sponsor. Playground was designed by Denise Russart.
Playground Part 1: Cutting
To view just the cutting list and/or print it, just click on the list, then print.
If you have questions about cutting, please ask them in the comments. We’ll respond as soon as possible.
By the way: This is not a race. You don’t need to sew everything this week. It’s just fun to get started together and to see the progress of others. Sew at your own pace and enjoy it, and stop back here often to be sure you get all the parts and pieces of Playground.
Today’s featured fabric sponsor is Red Rooster Fabrics. Red Rooster provided fabrics from an Asian line called “Tadashi” for this version of Playground.
Isn’t it wonderful? The rings are varied: some are higher contrast so they read as brighter, and some are lower contrast without disappearing altogether.
And now for the giveaway! We have three wonderful bundles of Tadashi fabric from Red Rooster Fabrics.
For a chance to win, please leave a comment below by midnight tonight, Monday, September 16 describing your idea for a color scheme for Playground. We’ll choose three winners randomly and announce them here. Good luck—I hope you win!
See you back here tomorrow for more of the quilt pattern and two more beautiful versions of Playground.
The Back to School Day 1 Winners are: Karen A., Kathy Stoessner and Michele Etter. Congratulations ladies. Check back daily for more chances to win!
