I have rarely met a fabric I didn’t like. But last week as I was going through some Quilter Piles* at my house, I came across this.
I hope I won’t offend anyone if I say I think it’s the most hideous fabric I have ever seen.
But it gave me an idea. Why don’t we have a round up of Hideous Quilting Fabric? If you have some, you can send a sample to me and it will be included in the Roundup. And I’m not just talking ugly. I want yoogly! Let me explain. Yoogly is more than just ugly. It’s YOO-gly.
I’ll write a blog post (which may or may not be humorous, we’ll see) and show you the most hideous ones I get. And then we’ll have a giveaway and one lucky (?) reader will get all the yoogly fabrics to play with.
Should she manage to make a quilt from them, we’ll feature it here. Does this sound like fun or what?! I’m very excited about it. I hope you’ll jump right in!
Yoogly fabric samples may be from 10″ square up to a fat quarter. Please don’t send more than a fat quarter. Mail your yoogly fabric to me to arrive by Saturday, August 31:

I can’t tell you how excited this makes me. We are going to have so much fun with it! Just remember: your fabric will not be returned. It will go into the yoogly fabric roundup and it will go to one lucky (?) reader in a random drawing.
Of course I’m well aware that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” that “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure” and all of that. It will be fun to see how much water those adages really hold, don’t you think? I’ll see you on the other side of yoogly!
*Quilter Piles: The piles of stuff that accumulate in a quilter’s space. They can be piles of fabric, magazines, books, ideas, ephemera, embellishments, mending, ironing, bills—you get the idea. Most of us have them. Oh wow, I think Quilter Piles might be another whole blog post.
