PFAFF, a leading global brand of premier sewing and embroidery machines, has announced Susan Dunnavant from Greenville, South Carolina as the overall winner of the “World’s Most Creative Sewer Contest.”
The competition, which began May 1, 2012 to celebrate the PFAFF brand’s 150th anniversary, invited sewers from around the world to share their creativity.
Dunnavant won for her “Gabe” project and said, “I specialize in rendering images of pets. Sometimes through photorealistic embroidery, sometimes through quilting and sometimes with photos printed on fabric to make pillows, purses, etc. I often create gifts for friends with images of their pets who have passed away or who are ill. The quilt that won the contest was of my own golden retriever who passed away in 2010.”
During the contest, sewers uploaded photos of their most imaginative projects. They were posted online and open to public voting. Votes were tallied each month through December.
