It’s not too late to join Quiltmaker for the Block Party March 20–23 in Portland, Oregon.

We have recently opened a la carte registrations, so you have the option of attending just one or two classes or lectures, or registering for the full three days of classes, friendship and fun. Here are some of the classes still available:

Go beyond basic shapes—try something new with Easy Hex taught by Gudrun Erla. Great potential for wonderful scrap quilts when you use a 60º ruler and Gudrun’s techniques for hexagon quilts. The quilt has two versions, the split and the scrambled version. Choose from different sizes of each version. Learn the construction of the triangle blocks into hexagons, cutting with the triangle ruler and choosing your layouts. Quilt is Fat Quarter Friendly and appropriate for experienced beginners and intermediate skill level.

Who doesn’t love a snappy, scrappy star quilt? Choose from numerous sizes and settings and pick a color scheme you love (suggestions available) to start a Starsteps quilt in class, taught by QM Interactive Editor Diane Harris. Learn secrets to successful scrap quilts and see bonus demos during class breaks. Fun fun fun!

Have you always wondered about learning to applique? The Lillebet’s Bouquet block will take students of all skill levels through the basics of Beth’s Ferrier’s Hand Appliqué by Machine. You will learn how to quickly produce flawless templates, glue baste perfectly turned edges and machine stitch heirloom quality appliqué in a fraction of the time needed for hand work. Learn to create perfect circles, points and curves.
