Today’s a big day for Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks. We’ve reprinted Volume 1, which sold out before many readers had a chance to get it.
Now the blocks that started it all are back!
In order to celebrate, we’re giving away some copies and—can you believe it?!—a batch of the much-sought-after 100 Blocks Volume 1 coffee mugs!

1. At the bottom of this post is a list of Volume 1 designers with links to their blogs or websites. Please take the time to visit several and then leave a comment telling us about something you saw or enjoyed there. Comments left by midnight Monday, Dec. Jan. 14 will be eligible to win a copy of the reprint of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 1. We’ll give away 10 issues for every 500 comments we get. So please tell your friends, and say it on Facebook and your own blog, too. We’d love to be completely cleaned out of giveaway issues! Here’s a link to this post you can share: http://www.quiltmaker.com/blogs/quiltypleasures/?p=15255
2. But you’re also wondering how you can win a Vol. 1 mug, aren’t you?! Because the mugs are very special, this is a little more involved but still very doable.
For your chance to win a mug, you’ll need to send us a photo of something you’ve made from ANY volume of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks. It can be as simple as a block or as much as a large quilt!
In fact, if you haven’t yet made anything, you have time to whip up a block. There are so many options of what to make. There are one hundred! Times six volumes!
Send the photo to sewtospeak@quiltmaker.com, with a subject line of “I’d like a mug!” Everyone who follows these instructions will have a chance to win one of 10 mugs we’re giving away. And you never know. We might be inclined to include issues in those packages, too. Update: Be sure to tell us which block(s) you used!
Seeing these blocks again is like reuniting with old friends. If you didn’t get a copy the first time around, be sure to pick one up this time.
We encourage you to buy it locally from a quilt shop or newsstand. It’s also available from us at quiltandsewshop.com. Or ask your quilt shop to order it for you.

I am going to make a table runner from the photo on this blog. Flip Side by Sara Tuttle Khammash. Will be back with a photo!
carol doak has had good paper piecing ideas.
I’m a newcomer to quilting, so I never had a chance at the first edition! Great giveaway <3
I was linked here from PKM, who had a link to Monica (Happy Zombie)'s original post of her quilt block made for 100 Blocks – adorable! The fabrics she uses are always so sweet, and I love how the finished result looks both simple and complex. Their two blocks really look so good together, too! (http://thehappyzombie.com/blog/?p=380)
Carol Doak had some wonderful ideas for making Valentine paper pieced cards. Really liked her patterns.
I also really enjoyed Jacquelynne Steves blog. Lots of inspiration!
The mug is so exciting to go with the magazine. I would love to have both and would make awesome sampler quilts with the blocks. I’ve used the Quiltmaker patterns since they started the magazine. It is really the best.
I am so glad extra copies of Vol 1 are available. Can we also purchase the Vol 1 mug?
>>The mugs are not available for sale. They’re limited editions as thank you’s for contributors in each issue . . . we have some each time for giveaways. QM
I love the inspiration from the 100 Blocks. I ckecked out Beth Ferrier and love her Sweet Nothing pattern. Karen Combs did an awesome presentation of her Smoky Mountain Block and several different layouts for her single block. Thanks for bringing volume 1 back.
I visited Jacquelynne Steves blog and enjoyed reading about her wool block of the month.
I could spend all day going to designers’ blogs, and I’m going to come back later when I have more time. I’m excited to see Kim Brackett is coming out with another book, saw all kind of great quilting eye candy from a museum at the University of Michigan Museum that was shared by Edyta Sitar, would love to go on a cruise with Nancy Mahoney, was intrigued by Scott Hansen’s 2012 reflections and . . . I could go on and on. Thanks for providing the links!
Sue Garman’s blog was great fun – incredible variety. So much inspiration. And the Happy Daze quilt gave me some ideas I can use today.

Stopped by a few of the designers (which I actually do on a regular basis) and I am participating in Pam Buda’s Pocket Patchwork sew-a-long! Too much fun stuff to look at I need to break away and start stitching. Thanks for the opportunity!
Spring blossom block is one of my favorites. Thank you for keeping quilters in the know.
I enjoy all of your creative ideas. Please continue on!
Hi
I understand that you send the instructions of a pattern by mail. Why does it cost more to send them to me if I live in Israel?

I visited Ann Weber’s Gingham Girls blog and thoroughly enjoyed the snowflake. Like she said snowflakes can be used all winter long, well beyond the day we take down the tree. I think I will try a snowflake item in a non-Christmas color, so it doesn’t look like I just forgot to pack something away.
I love the zipper quilt by Camille Roskelley. I looking to add length to a BOM I am doing and I think a row of this top and bottom row of these blocks might just be the way to go.
I love the simplicity of Ahoy by Carolyn Goins–from Volume 1
I love the leafy hot pads. It’s time to start making a bunch of small gifts to have on hand.
I had to track down Laura Nownes at http://www.lauranownes.com where I discovered “Butterfly Effect” a fun quilt pattern. I’m taking Laura’s Craftsy class (2013 BOM) and was delighted the range of patterns that she has.
Pam Buda’s primer on Make-do quilts is giving me the confidence to go ahead and finish a quilt even though I may have to substitute a similar fabric for the last few squares because I miscalculated the fabric requirements or just screwed up a block or two–which I am likely to do.
Pam Buda is doing an orphan block and scraps sew along on her blog Heartspun Quilts. This will be a great way to use up my “tons” of scraps. Thanks for the chance to win.
I saw very nice new patterns over at Camille Roskelley’s Simplify blog. Volume 1 looks interesting. Thanks for the chance.
I stopped over at Beth Ferrier’s blog and adore the puppy she has – so cute! Terrific that you are reprinting Volume 1 – thanks for the chance!!
I love the spring blossom block. I need a few more star blocks to add to a WIP so I’m going to try that block.
