Today I want to share with you links to a couple of quilty items. Take your time and enjoy them, and if you think they’ll come in handy, bookmark them for reference.

Nancy Mahoney told me recently about a tutorial she created on mitering borders. Take a peek—you’ll find that mitering corners isn’t really that big of a deal. Or maybe it’s just that Nancy’s casual style makes it so easy to do.

Side note: Nancy taught for Quiltmaker’s Block Party in Williamsburg last August to rave reviews. Find details on QM’s Block Party in Portland, March 20 to 23. Sew much fun!

I had a review copy of Nancy’s most recent book, Kaleidoscope Paper Piecing, and I just loved it. If you like piecing with foundations, you’ll want to check it out.

Bonnie Hunter also taught at the Block Party in Williamsburg, and will teach again in Portland. (You should come!)

If you haven’t heard, Bonnie has a great mystery quilt going on right now at quiltville.com.

More mystery units from the Bonnie Hunter project we'll start in the spring!

And I know I’ll be using this great tip from applique expert Kay Mackenzie. In this tutorial, she’ll teach you how to handle white fabric so that darker fabrics don’t show through.

She’ll use the “hard sauce” on Plum Pudding as her teaching tool. This design is from Kay’s book, A Merry Little Christmas to Applique.

All three of these designers have been in Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks. If you don’t have any of the six volumes we’ve published, oh my, you’d really love them! See what’s available.

And as one final little bonus, Quiltmaker has free foundations for the piece below called Seasons and Celebrations at quiltmaker.com.

There’s something about that little figgy/plum pudding that makes me smile. Don’t know why, it just does. The elf is cute. I just took my local library, where I am a Friend, an Elf for their shelf. Wonder what kind of reviews he will get? Thanks for the goodies.

Thanks for the great ideas today. The little paper pieces seasonal quilt will do well for a friend who is a teacher and likes to do things for her students.
