QMMS 120024 STARCK1 100 Blocks Vol. 6: Rescue No. 1

Rescue No. 1

As “Mom” to a 12-year-old son, I often try to design more “boy-like” quilts since they seem harder to come by, so a truck block seemed like obvious choice this time. You may remember my skateboard quilt, Kickflip, which appeared in Quiltmaker May/June ’12 – another great pattern for the young man in your life. My son loves it on his bed.

Rescue No.1 does have it’s share of patches in it, however, the piecing goes together very easily. Take a look at this cutting list!

firetruck1 100 Blocks Vol. 6: Rescue No. 1

I got into a wee bit of trouble around here because my pattern takes up more than the allotted half page – whoops!   icon wink 100 Blocks Vol. 6: Rescue No. 1    The rest of the assembly diagrams are on another page because there wasn’t enough room – but it was too cute to try to simplify it! It helps that I “know people,” ya know?

So for stopping by our Quilty Pleasures blog today, you have an opportunity to win a complimentary copy of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 6 and a much-coveted 100 Blocks mug!

Vol6 mug1 100 Blocks Vol. 6: Rescue No. 1Leave a comment here by midnight MST tonight (11/13/12)  giving a suggestion for my next vehicle block and you will be entered to win. One random winner will be chosen. Good luck! The randomly picked winner is comment #50 Debra Neiman. Congratulations!

  1. Barbara says:

How about an old fashioned train engine.

  2. My DS’s always loved the construction vehicles with scoops on them. Love the engine! Thanks for the chance!

  3. Rineke says:

Fun for boys? A racemonster or a monstertruck! Thank you for this give-away, I like the mug. We have to bring our own mug at my work and this one would be very suitable for me. But I don’t think you can send it over the ocean?!

  5. Debbie M says:

How about a motorcycle, Denise. BTW, I like this block, the ladder on top is really cool!

Truck could convert to a fire engine :-) Just change the ladder to yellow.
Mug looks fantastic and so does the magazine.

  7. Jenn says:

I think any of the construction vehicles, as well as more rescue vehicles. Bob the Builder (kids show) would probably have great inspiration. I think there are already lots of boat and car patterns, but less in the work vehicle realm.

My great nephews would enjoy farming vehicles. Thanks.

  9. How about a cherry picker or a crane?

I love the fire truck! I think a camo military jeep would be fun! thanks!

  16. Chris says:

I think a jet plane would be cool! thank you!

  40. Tanja H says:

How about an ambulance or police car. A quilt made with rescue vehicles would be cool.

  41. Denise :) says:

I’m definitely thinking a dump truck is in order … after the fire engine, that’s my grandson’s favorite! :)

  42. diane says:

How about a police car or a tractor!

  43. Beth says:

  54. Jeanne says:

Since my husband is a 911 emergency dispatcher, the first thing I thought of was a police car to go with the fire truck. What little boy doesn’t like police cars?

  55. Judy says:

A police car or ambulance would be good to stay with the rescue theme.

  56. Brenda Hulsey says:

  63. Kristy Paynter says:

I asked my 4yo what block should be next and he said a Lion. I explained it should be another vehicle/truck/construction etc… and he answered a fire person. 64. Linda E in AZ says:

That is adorable! How about a dump truck next time?

  65. Holly says:

How fun! I can think of a number of boys who would enjoy Rescue No. 1. Also, in any farming community, tractors are the big delight for any guy – young and old. One school in the area even has a “drive your tractor to school day”.

How about a school bus – maybe some children in the windows – or some “kid-fun” fabric!
