Welcome to Day 1 of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Blog Tour! We’re glad you’re here! This week you’ll visit many of the blogs written by 100 Blocks designers, and you’ll get a taste of what’s inside Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 6. We have issues to give away and great prize bundles, too, including the traditional Great Big Bundles on Friday (one for U.S. visitors and one for International visitors). Learn more about what a blog tour is.
Inspiration will pour from this page every day this week, leading up to the release of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 6 on Tuesday, Nov. 13. You’ll have many chances to win a copy, or to win one of many other great prizes!
And if you don’t happen to win, ask for 100 Blocks Volume 6 at your local quilt shop or newsstand, or get it from quiltandsewshop.com. (Quilt store owners: it’s not too late to carry this popular issue in your store. Contact Claudia at 800-815-3538 ext. 8366.)
Today’s industry sponsors are RJR Fabrics and Red Rooster Fabrics. They have each graciously contributed bundles of fabric to the blog tour prizes! Please support them when you visit your local quilt shop.
Now here’s a look at what’s in store in Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 6.
If you’re a foundation piecer, you’ll enjoy Peaks and Valleys by Carolyn McCormick. Carolyn taught at our recent Block Party in Williamsburg and she invented the Add-A-Quarter ruler. We highly recommend it.
If you adore tradition, Sawtooth Log Cabin by Kay Gentry has many possibilities.
Mixed techniques come together in Acorns Away! by Sandy Fitzpatrick.
For applique lovers, Nancy Mahoney’s Florida Rose will be delightful. Nancy is also a veteran quilt teacher from Block Party in Williamsburg and we love working with her.
Today we’re highlighting 13 designer blogs below. Visiting their websites will reveal more giveaways plus a great deal of inspiration for your own quilt projects. Don’t forget our giveaway at the end of this post.

Commenting on the very first link seems like such a cop-out, but, seriously, birds holding up a quilt? It’s so Snow White, I love it! I’m definitely going to start following Erin’s blog, “Why Not Sew.” What an creative lady!
I love reading Don’t Call me Betsy’s blog. Full of lots of inspiration. Thanks!
As a recent student of foundation piecing, my pick is Peaks and Valleys. I would love to see that in a sampler quilt. Thanks for the tour. I look forward to checking out the blogs and blocks.
I am a fan of SewHooked – just love paperpiecing
I checked out the blogs and saw lots of great blocks. Especially liked Laura’s block inspired by a Zen restaurant and the two blocks with little birds. Can’t wait to get the magazine!
I have a hard time choosing just one block! I am drawn to appliqué but I really like the paper pieced blocks, too, and the pieced blocks are great. How to choose? I think I will have to go with Denise’s, Judy’s and Jennifer’s as the favorites in this group! There, one of each, lol!
I loved Erins block so much. Want to learn this kind of applique too! Great to have a bloghop again! Thanks so much for doing this!
I really like Jocelyn’s block – it is contemporary with clean lines but really evokes winter. I think it would make a great pillow.
I am so excited. I love the Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Blog Tour. There is so much inspiration out there in blogland. My Favourite blog has got to be Nancy Mahoney’s. I just love her Florida Rose. It has so much movement and the the quilt setting she has her block in is wonderful. MAkes you want to turn your machine on and sew sew sew.
