Several months ago, we announced on Facebook that we were looking for QM readers to work on a one-time project for us. It’s been my pleasure to work with the eight women we selected as the Back to School Sewing Team. I’m happy to introduce them to you this week during the QM Back to School Party.

Today I’m pleased to present Charlotte Pollard from Galax, Virginia.
Charlotte sewed with Handsprays from RJR Fabrics for a lovely colorwash effect. Her finished quilt is below.
Quite an exciting piece, don’t you think? The Handsprays come in lots of great colors! An entire rainbow.
Charlotte penned a few thoughts for QP readers:
I was so excited to be chosen for this project but then I stressed myself worrying that I would not do it right, or finish on time, or that I’d mess up on my quilting (since I do free motion on my Viking Sapphire).
I spent a lot of time watching for the mail carrier or the UPS man, almost afraid to leave home. When the box finally arrived, it felt like Christmas to open it up and see all the wonderful fabric and the bright, happy colors I would be using.
Then my two quilting buddies (my sisters) arrived to lend their support. We had a lot of fun, playing with the beautiful fabric and them giving their opinion on my ideas.
The colors in the fabric I used—RJR Handspray—were fantastic and the fabric was so easy to work with.
This was a wonderful experience, and the pattern was fun to do.
During this project, Charlotte won a first place blue ribbon for a quilt she entered in the Alleghany Quilters Guild show in Sparta, North Carolina. The quilt is called “Forever Spring.”

Not surprisingly, Charlotte also took the third place ribbon in her category with a different quilt! I’d say we chose a winner for the Back to School sewing team!
On behalf of Quiltmaker and RJR Fabrics, I’d like to extend a sincere thank you to Charlotte Pollard for a job well done. We really appreciate you!

You did an exceptional job on your quilt Charlotte! Love the other one too.
What a great quilting year you are having!! And your colors are great together.
Beautiful work, Charlotte! Congratulations on your blue ribbon – what a fantastic quilt that is!
