208 Responses to Back to School Party: Part 2 and Giveaway!

  1. Maria Rosa Gonzalez Hernandez says:

First I am beginner, after all fabrics love, I like all styles, the grandeur of traditional quilts and the simplicity of modern finally be learning all my life.

  2. Connie Tessier says:

I’m more of a traditional quilter. I like to add my own touches, but I wouldn’t call any of them art quilts. I prefer to make quilts to use, rather than quilts to hang on the wall. Even my preferred art is more traditional than modern. Just an old-fashioned girl at heart…

  3. Rachelle says:

I do a bit of traditional and a bit of art. I’m currently working on a disappearing 9-patch for our bed and planning something more modern for eldest son’s bed.

  4. Joyce Mitchell says:

I’m a traditional quilter with a lots of modern thrown in. Thanks for the great giveaway. Loving the pattern.

  5. KT says:

I’m more of a traditional quilter. I love the modern fabrics, but really love traditional patchwork. Thanks for the chance to win!

  6. Charlotte Dudley says:

It’s hard to catagorize myself. I do love piecing traditional quilts, but always try to add a little original twist of my own. I aspire to create art quilts, but am not really there yet. Modern quilts have unusual design elements that I’m incorporating more and more as I go along.

  7. QuiltSue says:

I used to be solely traditional, but now I am leaning towards modern. The one thing I am not is an art quilter. I am just not creative enough.

  8. Becky Greene says:

Labels are hard to apply, I think. I am a mix of traditional and modern with the emphasis on modern. I almost always use modern fabrics.

  9. Annie K says:

I’m a mix of traditional/modern. Depending on who it’s for, what fabric I’m using, and what pattern I fall in love with, or what idea for something new is in my head.

  10. Lisa Marie says:

I don’t really make art quilts but I make about anything else. Maybe “updated traditional” is a way to describe it.

  11. Karlene says:

I’m a traditional quilter yet love all the modern fabrics. Aren’t we lucky to have such an abundance of beautiful fabrics to work with.

  12. Dana says:

I’m a modern quilter who enjoys doing the occasional traditional quilt, it’s a great way to learn and gives me more options when I’m designing something new. Thanks.

  13. Karyn says:

I think it’s safe to say I dabble in all areas. The magic of fabric never wears off!

  14. Jan says:

I would consider myself a traditional quilter, but occasionally try something modern. While I love to look at art quilts, they aren’t my cup of tea. I like quilts to wrap up in not hang on the wall :)

  15. Annaleena says:

I think that I’m more a traditional quilter. Sometimes I like also modern quilts with cheerful colours.

  16. Devon says:

I’m definitely a modern quilter! I love solids and geometric prints!

  17. Linda Cartwright says:

I am a traditional quilter, but would love to try more modern and art quilts in the future! I love this pattern!

  18. Cathy says:

I’m more of a traditional quilter, but with more experience sewing, I’m getting more experimental with color combinations and styles.

  19. Donna Joy says:

I have been a traditional quilter, but I am leaning toward modern for some of my new quilts. Thanks for sharing.

  20. Ann Y says:

Just a beginner, so I’m finding my own style!!

  21. Diane Simmons says:

Traditional but with lots of color. I’ve done Thimbleberries Club for 10 years and am tired of the dull colors, her patterns are nice but they need to step it up in color if they want me back.

  22. Leah Barido says:

I guess you could say I’m a modern quilter. I love bright colors and geometric designs.
    Leah

  23. Lola Bryant says:

What kind of quilter am I? I love the traditional quilts, and I suppose I mostly gravitate towards them. But then I see some of the modern designs and the truly wonderful fabrics that would work up so fantastically in them and off I go, planning and making a modern quilt. Art quilts are a bit above my talents, I don’t like to copy someone else’s and I am terrible at trying to get all the elements to work together so you can see what it should be.

  24. Karen says:

    I am a combination quilter – traditional/modern

  25. Betty Simmons says:

I am a traditional quilter, and enjoy fabric. I wouldn’t mind trying a modern quilt if I had the right fabric and pattern…Maybe my daughter can help me out with it. Thanks for the fabric giveaway offer…. :) I think this pattern is fun and so excited to see it done.

  26. Lisa's Chaos says:

I’m a self taught beginner quilter, making it up as I go along, lol. Since I get ideas from older books probably traditional. :)

  27. Sharon P says:

I am a traditional quilter – I want to make the quilts my ancestors did – thanks for all the giveaways!

  28. Suzanne LaFlex says:

Traditional mixed with modern. The fabrics that we have available now are fantastic !

  29. Linda says:

I’m a mix of traditional and modern quilter. I don’t like the new big floral prints but I do like some of the brighter colors. I just make pretty much whatever I like!

  30. I love this modern quilting movement, with its focus on improvisational creativity and showcasing clean graphic fabrics with lines and negative space. Count me in!

  31. Cathy Koester says:

I’m a traditional quilter but I’m thinking more and more about landscape and art quilts. My husband is a photographer and we love the west. There is a lot of inspiration for quilting there.

  32. CelticRose says:

Some combination. :) I like to do traditional patterns with modern fabrics, particularly batiks. I also prefer to piece and quilt by hand. However, if I see something I like, I’ll do it — no matter what the style.

  33. Joan says:

I’m a traditional quilter; love the old patterns. I have made modern quilts as gifts for people who prefer modern.

  34. Maria Kievit says:

Probably lean more towards traditional, and often use a lot of calico’s for fabric. Thanks for the giveaway.

  35. Wilma says:

I am a traditional quilter, I like to use my quilt but I like to give them a personal touch. I am a beginner. I like the fabrics today for it’s warm colours.

  36. Joyce Carter says:

I am a traditional quilter. I love the older quilt patterns and all things vintage. But every once in a while, I like to do my own thing and I will do more of an art quilt.

  37. Michele says:

I am a traditional quilter, with some modern thrown in occasionally. I like to make quilts to be used and loved, and my girls love the modern! I like to use the modern fabrics in small things like purses and totebags- it really helps to personalize each one.

  38. Cindy T says:

I enjoy the traditional patterns, combined with contemporary fabrics.

  39. Shirley Weaverling says:

In the beginning days of my quilt history, I took some fast and furious quilt classes. I mean strip through hundreds of blocks in a few days. It wasn’t long before I was changing things up a little. Basically, now I really have to like a pattern or see potential in fabrics before beginning a new quilt. Just me.

  40. Sharon B says:

I am more traditional, but am becoming more interested I modern. I have a granddaughter that joins me in quilting and she is more modern.

  41. Judith says:

I am a beginner quilter who loves the batiks and some of the new fabric. I believe that I am a combination of a traditional, modern and confused quilter. I am learning everyday in this new hobby of mine. One technique that I am enjoying is paper piecing. One technique that I need to learn is hand applique as I have three patterns and fabric to make appilque quilts.

  42. Terri says:

I consider myself a traditional quilter. I have branched out a little bit, but always come back to the tried and true piecing patterns. I have a large amount of landscape fabrics that I gathered several years ago, but I never got the hang of making the landscapes look real – they just looked flat to me. Someday I’ll have to read the books and watch the CD I bought to help me learn how to do more artsy quilts. Meanwhile, I keep trying to use up some of my stash…..*sigh*

  43. Janet F says:

After over 30 years of making quilts, I have been all three types…first, I was a traditional…..then I started breaking the rules & became an art quilter…..now I’m a combo of art & modern with still a touch of traditional here & there. In my “quilty world” there are no QUILT POLICE. Anything goes! This pattern has something for every type of quilter & for beginner to advanced. Thanks!

  44. Kathleen Chaney says:

I am a piecer really. ( I use a long-arm quilter to finish my large throws and bed quilts.) I make traditional blocks usually, but never use reproduction fabrics, and I avoid florals usually. With so many modern beautiful fabrics to collect and play with, I like to make scrappy styles! I did a Spiderweb style with more than 120 fabrics!

  45. Ann in AL says:

I am a traditional quilter. I use pastels and brights in them as I don’t care for dark colored fabrics. I like soft or happy colors.

  46. denise fatzinger says:

I am an art quilter. I love to add al sorts of textures for my wall hangings. Metals and fabric look awesome.

  47. grahamplaid says:

Of course I am a modern quilter, but I have traditional interests that I incorporate into my quilting.

  48. Joellyn P says:

Oh I love the fabrics today even more! I guess I would be a combination of the three. I do mostly traditional quilts, but have made a couple modern ones for my daughter. I also tend to do a lot of wall hangings and I do love to attempt some thread painting and embellishment on those. I just love everything about quilting, any way shape or form.

  49. Loretta O' says:

I would say that I am a traditional and a modern quilter because I love both!

  50. Lauren aka Giddy99 says:

I’m a modern quilter. A newbie, but definitely modern.

  51. deb shupe says:

Traditional but on ocassion willing to try. Modern

  52. Rene says:

I do both traditional and art quilting. I have one daughter who says if I make her something, she perfers traditional ” like grandma would make” and not “art”. I love to challenge myself so I’ll try most anything I think looks interesting.

  53. Pam Garrison says:

I’m learning all things quilting, having started with a “traditional” quilt mentor/good-and-patient friend, but find myself excited by viewing the more “free form” quilts. I like to sew blocks and strips of my own design, rather than depending on a traditional “pattern.” It’s only a matter of technical knowledge and confidence before I leap into the more-modern type quilt. The new fabrics inspire desire to try new uses of/to blend old techniques.

  54. Susan L says:

I’m a beginner quilter. I don’t like following patterns I like to add my own things to what I do. I have an ideal and go with it.

  55. Judy Jewell says:

I guess you could call me a traditional quilter. I particularly like paper-piecing and applique. I like all kinds of fiber and dream so much about the finished product that sometimes it takes me quite a while getting started. :) But the finished product is well worth the time to make it.

  56. Diane Morris says:

I like the traditional patterns but I like to quilt by machine, not by hand. The RJR fabrics are beautiful in this pattern.

  57. Sharon Judkins says:

I am a traditional quilter. No doubt about it. It is just my style and what I like the best. I have bought some “modern” fabrics and have made quilts using them but always go back to a more traditional style.

  58. Ann Bentley says:

I do more traditional in style, but I do wall quilts, table and bed runners as well as bed quilts. I love to see the color combinations presented. I am always amazed by how different the same pattern looks with just a change in color choices.

  59. Nancy Currier says:

I have been more of a traditional quilter, but some of the new patterns and fabrics definitely have made my projects more modern.

  60. Hanke Fijnvandraat says:

I think, I am a traditional quilter, but that might change in the future ;-)

  61. Jocelyn says:

I am a traditional quilter, but have been loving some of the modern fabrics. I’ve even made a couple of modern looking quilts. But traditional is still my first love :-)

  62. Susan C says:

The majority of my quilts tend to be traditional, sometimes with a modern twist. While I appreciate art quilts, most of my quilts are functional – baby quilts, lap quilts and bed quilts.

  63. Anne Cohen says:

I love color and texture and interesting and unusual combinations, so I can’t choose which type of quilter that would make me!

  64. Jenelle Boxberger says:

I would have to say I’m a traditional quilter. Thanks for the wonderful chance to win the fabric.

  65. DebrafromMD says:

    I’m definitely a traditional quilter.

  66. TErre Sturtevant says:

I like to do both traditional and modern quilts. and ones that are used. I have done some wall hangings, but prefer usable quilts.

  67. Darlene Jacolik says:

I’m mostly a traditional quilter, but love to include machine embroidery in my blocks.

  68. I guess I’m a traditional quilter, but I’m fascinated by the modern quilting “vibe.” I love the traditional patterns, but I tend to use contemporary colors and fabrics.

  69. Lauren Sorrell says:

Traditional for the most part. I do not like art quilts.

  70. Donna Amos says:

Like many others, I am mostly a traditional quilter. I love doing “scrappy” quilts and finding new ways to put patterns together. Also, I’m finding that I am beginning to love the modern quilting, especially all the great geometric designs and colors that pop.

  71. Deb Wille says:

I like a mix of modern & traditional quilting. Just can’t wait to do the next project, if only I didn’t have to sleep, I could add about 3000 extra hours a year of quilting. Thanks for giving us a chance to win!

  72. Diana says:

Traditional, but I’m dabbling in what you might call modern quilting by making a king-size version of Single Girl. I love all the contrast between shapes & the negative space (especially whites) in the modern quilts. But, let me say, if you’ve lived long enough, you can definitely see the 1960′s style in these “modern” quilts!

  73. Kay says:

I’m a traditional/art combining the two in memory quilts. Thanks for this project & the chance to win! Love the fabrics.

  74. Pauline Gudas says:

I really love traditional quilts although some of the modern designs have me inspired to make them. I would love to win some RJR fabric as it is one of my favorites

  75. Renita Ball says:

Love the quilt patterns. Keep them coming.

  76. Pat V. says:

I have been experimenting with lots of styles and techniques, and I would say I’m mainly a traditional quilter. I do love to see quilts that are “modern,” but not my cup of tea to make. I absolutely adore paper piecing, is that odd?

  77. Lisa shirtcliffe says:

Red,white and blue For Remembering september 11 th .

  78. Kathie Weaver says:

I would have to say that I am more of a traditional quilter than anything else at this point. I’ve only been quilting for about 6 years. I’ve played around with redesigning some quilt patterns and have designed a couple. I enjoy the challenge that all quilting brings!

  79. Barb J says:

I was going to say that I was a traditional quilter, but I have seen a lot of “modern” quilts that I really like. And I admire the people who can do art quilts, but I haven’t tried any (yet!) So, I am a fusion quilter!

  80. Linda E in AZ says:

I’m definitely a modern quilter, never had any interest in traditional quilting. I am amazed to see the new directions that quilting has taken in recent years.
    Thanks!

  81. lindawwww says:

I’m a traditional quilter but I love and appreciate all quilts.

  82. Beulah says:

I am a Combo Quilter! :D I love the elements of traditional quilting but can’t escape the artist in me and years of teaching art and art history [rules can be broken when being creative]…..which creates a modern-esque traditional art quilter. All’s fair in love and war…AND QUILTING! :D :D :D

  83. Shirley C says:

I am basically a traditional quilter, but I do like to try new techniques. At this point I am a “topper”. I don’t like to hand quilt. It takes me too much time. So I get someone to do it who really enjoys it. But I love the machine sewing!!

  84. Tanya says:

I am more of a traditional quilter, tho I do put my own twist of everything. Thanks for the chance to win some great fabric. Good luck everyone.

  85. Carmen says:

    Definitely a traditional quilter

  86. Wini Brady says:

I am a traditional quilter and have recently purchased my first longarm quilting machine. Look out world here I come. LOL

  87. VickiT says:

I think because I’m still learning I tend to be more of a traditional, but I really love many of the modern quilts too so I’d say a combination is what I would be.

  88. Cy Swendsen says:

I am mostly a traditional quilter having learned around my Grandmother’s quilt frame. However, I do like to personalize the quilts according to the receipiants interests. I use machine embroidery to do most of the personalizing.

  89. Joan M says:

I’m a traditional quilter when I’m sewing. I’m an equal opportunity appreciator at quilt shows.

  90. Marge M says:

I am a traditional quilter, but I tend to throw in a little modern too, like with a bit of applique and or some embroidery to ballance things out.

  91. Kathleen B says:

I’m an art quilter, but I really enjoy traditional quilt making too. Thanks for the great question!

  92. Sandra Timmons says:

I am a pieced quilter, but I enjoy learning about all the techniques and ideas that are offered. Thank you for the Back to School tutorial. I really like the Timeless Treasures Quilt. The colors make this quilt stand out – rich, bold and simply gorgeous. You have shown us by using different colors as well as fabrics you can have a totally different quilt still using the same quilt pattern. Here’s hoping I can win those giveways.

    Sandi T.
    sandit1@sbcglobal.net

  93. Barb Colvin says:

I don’t think I really fit in a category. I love using contemporary/modern fabrics in classic pieced blocks. I also like primitive projects and shabby chic/cottage projects. I’ll try anything at least once.

  94. Joyce Jensen says:

I’m a traditional quilter, I love the old patterns, but the last quilt I made was modern with batiks and lots of white, so I think I am a bit of both these days.

  95. sharon s says:

I would say I’m a modern quilter with a bit of traditional mixed in. I love all the new fabrics and variety today. I would like to try an art quilt one of these days.

  96. Donna Hagarty says:

I guess you might call me traditionally modern. Depends on my mood, what the fabric is saying to me or a new or old technique that I just have to try.

  97. Robin Huss says:

I too, am new to quilting. Love all the fabrics. It’s great learning all kinds of blocks. Thanks for all the information you have given.

  98. Loretta T says:

I consider myself a traditional quilter. Have tried other methods but always seem to go back to the more traditional methods.

  99. Valerie A. Clark says:

I’m a combination of traditional/modern. Most of my recent quilts are of the scrappy style. I save my small left overs for applique. Although I love the look of hand quilting – it’s not for me.
    Thanks

  100. forestjane says:

I’m a traditional quilter, but I like making my own patterns best of all. ;)

I am more of a traditional quilter although I have tried some modern and art quilts. My favorite is hand quilting. PAM

Traditional quilter. Love the look of the old quilts and finish all with hand quilting.

I am a very traditional quilter, although I enjoy doing applique baby quilts. I still remember my grandmother quilting the patchwork patterns and seems that those have been my favorites through the years.

  105. Maryellen Dares says:

I love quilting even though my eyes aren’t the best & it takes me longer than most,I still enjoy it. I would say I am traditional I like doing usable quilts but will try something new now and then but traditional is my love.

  106. Jannette says:

I’m pretty traditional – both in style and palette – but I’m working on it! I’m trying to work “outside the box” with brighter, fresher colours – red and aqua and gray for my next project!

  107. Janet says:

Pretty much a traditional quilter with added machine embroidery.

  108. Claire Gregory says:

I am primarily traditional, BUT….I love brights and new innovative fabrics to put a twist on traditional patterns.

  109. I’m mostly traditional but love to try new things. I’ve never met a piece of fabric that I didn’t like at least a little bit. Learning to quilt on my Viking Sapphire has been a challenge i still have a lot to learn. Would love to win.

    ourbusylittlebunch(at)hotmail(dot)com

I love to do traditional quilts, out of reproduction fabrics.
I also like to do traditional patterns with modern fabrics with a twist.
an old pattern with aplicay over it.
modern is good also. I like to play with all fabrics so I am a maker of
baby quilts to donate. Old, new and fun patterns.

  119. Linda says:

I am a traditional quilter who loves geometric designs.
    Linda in Southern Illinois

  120. I love this quilt and I am going to make it i am just a new person to quilting. It was something that my mom learned from er mom and now we are working together. One day I hope to make pretty quilts like they did and do.Thanks for this chance to be able to make more quilts.

  121. Carolyn says:

I am a tradional quilter and I am obsessed. I like color, any color. I work with reproduction fabric, brights, greyed, just about all of them.

  122. CHRISTINA MACKENZIE says:

I think I am more of an traditional quilter with a love of colour. I love quilts with lots of colour done in traditional patterns. WhileI don’t really get quilts that are one or two big blocks with not much else to them, I can appreiciate everyone craft and the time they spend doing them though.
I remember telling my mom that my ideal quilt would be navy blue and white, just solid navy with white squares quilted on it. I left for basic training on the 21 Oct 1978 and when I came home for Christmas on the 21 Dec the quilt along with two shams was wrapped under the tree. This quilt was a joint effort from my mom and my aunt. My mom couldn’t sew on a machine and depended on my aunt to take care of that for her, but she sure loved to hand quilt and mom’s applique was beautiful. She liked having something to so in the evenings to keep her hands busy. This has to be the plainest quilt in history but also the most loved and used. Can you imagine the time spent at the quilt rack so that there would be a special surprise for me under the tree?

I would describe myself as a dabbler!

  127. Ginny R says:

I’m a combination quilter. I like traditional quilting but I love the new modern fabrics. I love the bright colors. So I go between traditional quilting and modern quilting. I am just now adding Civil War reproductions to my stash.

  128. Judy says:

I consider myself a traditional quilter using contemporary fabrics, for the most part!

I’m fairly new to quilting and consider myself a traditional quilter. Thanks for the chance at your giveaway.

  131. Sheryl Andrews says:

One of the best things about loving quilting is that you can play with all sorts of techniques. You can “paint” with fabric and be a traditionalist at heart. You can do something totally geometric and “modern” or appliqué fantasy creatures on a baby quilt. A little of this. A little of that. A lot of enjoyment without being boxed in to a label.

  132. Patty Happel says:

I think I’d say I’m a traditional quilter. Thanks for the giveaway!

  133. vicki says:

    Definitely traditional

  134. Tonya Reichard says:

I would have to say that I’m more of a traditional quilter not sure how I feel about the modern quilts yet. Thank you for the Back to School Party and giveaways!!

  135. I’m a traditional quilter. I love fabric in all colors and patterns….a quilter can never have enough fabric!

  136. Kaye M. says:

I’m mostly a traditional quilter but like to add a bit of a twist to my projects. I love color and am always game for trying a new technique.

  137. Carole Fronk says:

I am mixed quilter and work on every kind of quilt that appeals to me. I have done several art quilts and many traditional quilt patterns but with a modern twist to them. I love fabric and buy a lot of batiks. But then some civil war prints find their way into my heart!

  138. Debi Pennington says:

I am mostly a traditional quilter, trying to do something besides geometric stuff, which is hard because I am in engineering and find it hard to do artsy things. I’m liking the modern quilt guild tho.

  139. Debra G. says:

I’m right between traditional and modern. I absolutely love the colorful, bright, modern fabrics and designs, but sometimes a more traditional quilt fits the recipient better.

  140. I am traditional quilter who loves working with the old Kansas City Star patterns and Batik fabrics. Changing up is good. I do a lot of star and basket quilting.

I am a traditional quilter, who is just starting to branch out into Modern Quilting (which I am loving), and Art Quilting (which I am struggling with)!

  143. Sharon South says:

I believe I am a more modern quilter. But I love making quilts so sometimes I lean towards the art mode, making my quilts unique. Love this quilt idea! I will have to add it to my “someday” list.

  146. Lorilynn King says:

hmmm…. I’m middle of the road, I guess. I start with a pattern and then put my own twist on it. I’m definitely into the modern techniques (lots of machine quilting, embroidery etc.) and I think my next quilt will be something in the “modern quilt” genre – big blocks of (almost) solid colors to really draw the eye.

  147. Jerry Beavers says:

I am a beginner quilter, but have come to appreciate the traditional. I am in the process of making a dresdin table topper (2 actually) and would love to make the wedding ring–that is in the distant future. Thanks for the chance to win.

  148. Pam says:

What kind of quilter am I? Hmmm… I think more traditional than modern.

  149. marjorie says:

I feel I lean more to the modern quilter, not necessarily with solids, but tone-on-tone. I like quilts/blocks that look hard that are not or ones that have a trick component. i would love to win the fabrics.

I like the new style of quilting: Cheating and cutting corners. It makes it so much easier to get the quilts done. I make baby quilts for the new arrivals at church and they seem to be alot these days. I like to make them special with pictured embroidery quilting and interesting fabric. I am passionate about quilting. Its what I do all day long!

  153. Angie Costa says:

I am a combination. I like to take my own colors and thoughts in my head and make it work! However…it is hard on my mom (as she usually is helping me) because she is a directions lady. Regardless, we have never had a complaint about a quilt!

I’m a combination of traditional and modern quilter — tramod’

I am a traditional quilter. I seem to gravitate to quilts with movement in them, that seem to trick the eye when your looking at them.

  157. Maryellen says:

I prefer to make traditional style quilts, and have an interest in making some art quilts. I do enjoy seeing all different types, though. Both of the Frame by Frame quilts in today’s collections are really pretty! I love seeing the same quilt in different fabrics, so this is fun.

  158. Laura P says:

I am a fairly traditional quilter when it comes to my own creations. Lately however, I’ve been drawn to the modern quilts and think it’s perhaps time to venture into something new. I’m pretty easy – anything with nice fabric, good color, and strong design can be exciting. :-)

  163. Susan Paxton says:

I am a new quilt piecer so not sure if I am traditional or modern or what. I love all the new techniques for piecing and love to see new patterns. I am trying to use my stash by making lots of different blocks. Love the Back to School Party. Thanks so much.

    I am a modern quilter.

  165. Cornelia Masur says:

I was a traditional quilter but am stepping out of my comfort zone and working a little with art quilting and modern quilting. This is a big step for me as I am basically doing it all on my own since I am currently home bound with 3 small grandchildren. Glad that I have the internet to help me maintain my sanity.

  170. I am a beginner, quite possibly traditional, and love to play with fabrics to see just what will look best with what else.

I am probably much more modern than traditional. I like whimsical and bright rather than duller colors.

  172. Patti says:

I used to consider myself a traditional quilter because of what my mother taught me, but with all the beautiful fabrics now, I love the challenge of the new modern designs and the absolutely inspiring fabrics.

  173. Diantha Howard says:

I guess I am a “traditional quilter”. I love the RJR Handspray collection – they are beautiful!

  174. Rachell R says:

I’m pretty sure I’m a traditional quilter. I prefer fabrics with small patterns or marbles or blenders. I like my blocks to shine, not the busy prints. However, I’m not above wanting to fussy-cut a pretty print to showcase in the center of a traditional block, surrounded by more subtle colors to make it pop. I really want to try batiks.
And I’m not afraid to play with color, or a design, to come up with something I love.
These two fabric bundles are just my style! They are wonderful!

  175. amy losordo says:

I’m a traditional wanna be an art quilter. Those colors are so vibrant, that it would make a traditional pattern quite modern. Thanks for inspiring me to think outside the box.

Thanks for the chance to win!

  181. Tara A says:

    I think I’m more traditional.

  182. Freida says:

Having quilted a little over 5 years, most of my quilts were baby quilts. My next venture will be a queen sized quilt—–I hope. I have trouble buying enough blending fabrics because I get caught up on the beautiful designs available. Can’t wait to do something with Pickles fabric. That’s my husband’s favorite cartoon. Thanks for the opportunity for freebies.

  183. Jennifer Stevens says:

I am somewhere between a modern quilter and a traditional quilter. Either way, I love to have fun with fabric!!

Probably more traditional, or a mixture of styles. Whatever suits the project, really

  185. Mary Furber says:

    I’m a combination..I dabble in everything!!!

  190. Sharon says:

I love traditional quilts, and that’s mostly what I make. But when I want something quick and easy, sometimes I choose a modern pattern. I love the texture the quilting gives, and that generally shows up better on the simpler modern quilts than it does on the traditional quilts with more piecing.

I love quilting. I make quilts for charities like Project Linus.

  193. Elizabeth Hogueison says:

I am a beginner quilter, so I haven’t developed a style yet. I think I would lean more toward being a traditional quilter because it reminds me of the wonderful quilts my grandmother made me.

  194. Lisa Ellis says:

Just a beginning quilter. I’m still strictly following patterns and hoping everything matches and I’m drawn to more traditional styles for myself but I really admire the art quilts and would love to be confident enough one day to tackle that kind of project. I have a goal to make quilts for all my grand-nieces and grand-nephews but I’m losing ground as new babies make their appearances.

  195. Cathryn H says:

I’m a combination quilter – I like traditional and some modern/art. I was also hoping to have the way to put the quilt together as a pdf file. Did I miss that somewhere?

I’m a traditional quilter but I’m starting to love the modern quilts. It would be great to win some fabric!

I love traditional quilt stuff, but I also love some of the modern, esp. stuff done with bright colors! Even those traditional patterns look wonderful in brighter stuff!

  203. Nanci Timmmins says:

I am drawn to the 30s fabric and traditional quilts.

  204. Tamsyn says:

I’m a whatever-strikes-me-at-the-moment quilter. I’ve done traditional, modern, and art quilts. Thank you for the great giveaway! Tamsyn

  205. Pat Hersl says:

Golly. I read this too late! Good Luck y’all!

  206. Mary Peroutka says:

Well, I am a modern quilter as I use a machine! Gathering scraps and piling them together, using last little bits makes me frugal-ly happy!

  207. Brenda Dolha says:

I would have to say that my favourite fabrics in the finished quilts were: 1/Tonga batiks, 2/ Red Rooster, and 3/Stonehenge. I do love the idea of using movie based fabrics to experiment with, and may get out my ‘Gone with the Wind’ and ‘I Love Lucy’ bits to see what I can come up with! I will be trying this block tomorrow at UFO day.
I am presently working on a quilt top for my guest bedroom, which has sage green walls. I am working with a collection of purple and green fabrics, accented with golds and plums. no pattern, but with a central square that is ‘on point’.
