Quilt Tops for Giveaway!

coveroptimized2 Quilt Tops for Giveaway! Our March/April issue features some beautiful color options, and today we’re hosting a giveaway for three of them. A new quilt top could be on its way to you shortly.

In case you’re not familiar with the idea of color options, for many patterns we create a second quilt top using completely different fabrics and colors. We hope this invites you to imagine the possibilities for that pattern—to consider how it would look if you chose a different color recipe. We show the color option in print, near the end of the pattern.

Here are some examples. The original quilt Around the Town is shown below.

  1. I love the Quiltmaker’s Garden. It is so bright and joyful and speaks of spring!
I love to quilt and enjoy gardening when I have time.

  2. Debbra M says:

I just love the Minnesota Homewarming. It gives more than one block designs. Each time I look at it I see another block.

  3. Patricia Jencks says:

Oh my! My personal favorite, (by far!!!) is “Around the Town” in the “Everything but the Kitchen Sink” by RJR fabrics, colorway. I admit it; I’m a bit different. I’m more traditional in my choice of quilts, but love the more contemporary lines of fabric. So I am quite intrigued by this mostly traditional looking pattern that has been updated with those fabulously modernized prints! I love this fabric collection and this particular pattern. I’m seriously considering buying a subscription to your magazine and seeing about making this quilt for myself. (I think my new DDIL might even like the it – I promised her one for their wedding!)
Thanks for touching/combining both of my seemingly disparate desires into one beautiful quilt.

  4. Nancy Bradford says:

I love Around the Town. I like using classic quilt blocks with the fabrics and creating an updated classic quilt. I am always drawn to quilts made from classic blocks.

  5. Marian Rose says:

Around the town because I love geometrics!

  6. Ann Georges says:

I love the Calico Clockworks! It is remarkable the way the pattern changes with different colors. I really like this feature of your magazine.

  7. Victoria Lawhorne says:

I think my favorite is QUiltmakers Garden. You can almost smell the flowers growing up the gazebo. I really liked the petal path too. Can see lots of possibilities and variations. Can’t wait for the retreat in Williamsburg

  8. Carol Ann Singleton says:

I love the Petal Path. It is very beautiful. The colors are awesome, lots of different possiblities.

  9. BarbR says:

My favorite design is Kay Mackenzie’s Petal Path. I love the applique. The colors in the magazine are wonderful but I can see how it could be beautiful in several colorways. This is a project I’d love to be doing in my sewing room. =!=

  10. RJ says:

Quiltmakers’s Garden is my favorite. So bright and cheery.

  11. Brenda Dolha says:

I just love the Petal Path in the Petal Pushers fabrics! Such lovely colours for spring! (Besides, the original looks like a patriotic American version- and I am Canadian!)

  12. deb Cornett says:

Favorite is Petal Path using Provence fabrics, I love appliqué but have not mastered the technique. (I need to retire so I can quilt MORE!) Secondly, the Calico Clothworks in the Covenent Gardens fabrics is well done and the colors suit me. However, the Around the Town pattern is striking in both color ways, either way these will be absolutely beautiful hand quilted.

  13. Roberta B says:

I am leaning towards Grandpa’s Star as a quilt that I will probably do. What an inspiration to use all the half-square triangles that I have been collecting for years. I really like the design.

  14. ritainalaska says:

petal path is my very favorite pattern from the march isssue, for it’s applique panels. the applique is gorgeous, yet simple and easy to do. i would love this top!

  15. Rita says:

Petal Path is my favorite. I love applique and this is simple and easy to adjust to different colors.

  16. Diann Jones says:

My favorite is Chain Reaction. I like unusal looking quilts and this one sparks my imagination.

  17. Elaine says:

I love them all but love Around the Town and Petal Play. I love the reproduction fabrics used in Around the Town. I am an avid Appliquer and am always drawn to applique. I would be proud to own either. Thanks for doing a give away for these quilts. What an opportunity.

  18. Cheryl L. says:

I really like the Chain Reaction quilt, and I’m considering making this one. The fabric choices are perfect for Spring, and would look great in my guest bedroom.

  19. PattyC says:

I love Hidden treasure – The Stars are just beautiful. I enjoy seeing hidden stars when looking at different views & I love the colors !!!

  20. Rita Traxler says:

I love the way you always show the quilts in a second colorway. It is so inspiring. That is one of the reasons I love taking a class where everyone is making the same quilt top but out of different fabrics the quilts all look so different.
The enjoy all the quilts but the garden quilt is so whimsy and happy it’s my favorite for this issue.

  21. Dorothy says:

I like the Petal Path. This lifts my spirits and makes me feel good.

  22. Dee Weston says:

The Around the Town block is a very cheerful block, in many of the favorite colors I like to use. And, of course, the stars are another favorite theme. Would love to make this block, will have to try.

  23. Bethany says:

I too enjoyed the whole magazine, as always, but I really like Grandpa’s Star. I love scrap quilts and all the variety of them!! Generally they are one of a kind quilts.

  24. PatchworkCarole says:

My favorite is the ‘Hidden Treasure,” because of the crisp contrast between the white and the blues. However, I also love “Calico Clockworks” and “Around the Town” – the original colors! You won’t be surprised that I have MANY kits and collections of colors in my queue because I can’t choose JUST ONE!

  25. Michelle Costen says:

All the quilts are lovely but the Petal Path quilt is my choice quilt.
When I look at the Petal Path quilt it reflects back to me the sense of joy I feel within.
It reminds me that each step we take in life offers us another oportunity to flourish, bloom and flower. The Petal Path quilt also gives a genuine message that life does not have to be complicated or complex to be the wondorous delight and beauty that it is.

  26. Bessie says:

I love the Bunny Patch. I am a beginning quilter and I think that I can handle this one. I just found out that I am going to be great aunt to 5 new babies this year so I had better get quilting.

  27. Ruth B says:

Petal Path! I love applique and this quilt just makes me happy. It is that simple.

  28. Kathleen says:

I love the Petal Path. I love the look of applique, but when I have tried it, it never looks quite right. The Petal Path applique just pops out and looks beautiful. Keep up the good work with your magazine. It’s one of the beast.

  29. Vicki Moss says:

I love all the new projects but my favorite is Petal Path in the Petal Pushers fabric by Windham. This makes you want to gather a picnic and head for the park.

  30. Connie says:

I really like the Petal Pushers pattern! Love your magazine!

  31. Chyree Rohde-Lincoln says:

I love the Around the Town quilt done in 30′s fabrics. I’ve “rediscovered” them lately and have done several quilts with them. Our Country Crossroads Quilt Guild did a block exchange last year and it revived my interest.

  32. Lynn Patrick says:

I just like the whole 9 yards, the whole book, all the patterns are great and the colorways are good and the extra colorways help those of us that have a problem with the color sellections of fabric. The only problem I have is that some fabric manufactures do not produce enough bolts a certain fabric and the shops run out and we cannot get the fabric we see in the quilts for out own quilts ; then its hard to find one to match certain colors.

  33. Michelle M says:

This a great issue, I like many of the quilt patterns in this one. I really like the Chain reaction, Petal Path and Grandpa’s Star block patterns. But I think my favorite is the Around Town pattern. I’ve been collecting civil war reproduction fabrics and this would be a perfect pattern for displaying those.

  34. Lori Brand says:

I think my favorite is Chain Reaction. I like the fact that easy piecing yields results that look so much more complicated. The colors used in the sample are pretty for this time of year and make me happy!

  35. Elaine Swatniki says:

I love the Quilter’s Garden. It incorporates the 2 techniques I love-paper piecing and applique. I also like asymetrical quilts. I love the magazine but out of all the great choices, Quilter’s garden is my favorite for March/April.

  36. Joanie says:

It is difficult to choose one favorite project from the March/April issue! I settled on Minnesota Homewarming. I love the complex look of the quilt as well as the colors. Due to great instruction, I can see that the quilt will not be too difficult to attempt. I also love the colors and the stars in this quilt.
I ruled out the cover quilt, which I love, because it spans several issues so technically it is not just a March/April project. :0) I also loved Chain Reaction! The main reason I continue to subscribe to Quiltmaker is that there are almost always multiple quilts I want to make.
My favorite column is Carol Beams Design Studio! I have great fun trying her ideas and they always spark interesting projects!!!!!!!!!!!!

  37. Quilter’s Garden is my favorite project for this issue. Thanks for the opportunity to enter your great giveaway!

  38. Leta Wellman says:

My favorite from the magazine is “Minnesota Homewarming”, because I’m such a sucker for anything with stars. And since the medallion setting creates a star effect, that’s why I’d love to win the “Around the town” quilt. And the colors in this quilt are just a reminder that spring is on its way!! Thanks for the chance wot win!!

  39. Kathleen Henry says:

I love Petal Path, by Kay MacKenzie. It looks so like Spring, my favorite time of the year. The colors in your version are so light and gay, just makes me smile to see them. I can imagine them on my bed or as a wall hanging in my room. Love, Love, Love it!!!!

  40. Linda says:

I love anything scrappy so there are couple there, but I always love to see the addicted to scraps blocks. The anniversary quilt is beautiful…love it!
    Thanks for the giveaway

  41. Dan Saurino says:

I like the “Diamond Fortune” design as I think it is quite unusual, and should look different from various angles when covering the curves of a bed. In addition, the brown/beige colors are neutral enough to go with most bedroom motifs, yet the pattern allows for customization when matching the interior greens and yellows.

  42. Linda Miller says:

I love Chain Reaction. I like the interlocking diamonds of different sizes. I REALLY liked the taupe color option. I’ve looked for something to showcase the taupe fabric lines that have been popular for awhile & this is the first one I’ve seen that I think really shows them off. Good job on this issue & all your issues. It’s my favorite magazine.

  43. Norma Walters says:

I like Around the Town because I like stars and it has just the right amount of stars and the dimensions are great.

  44. Marilyn Bienduga says:

I love the “Everything but the Kitchen Sink” quilt because a scrappy quilt looks so homey, and Home is where the Heart is.

  45. Diane says:

I love Kay MacKenzie’s Petal Path! I love appliqué and piecing together and this has such pretty colors!

  46. Karen O says:

Quilter’s Garden is wonderful! I would love to make a quilt like that someday – something that is not symetrical.

  47. Ellen Pearce says:

While I love Petal Path because I love the color and appliqued flowers, my favorite is the Quiltmaker’s Garden. It fascinates me how the design within the design provides many interesting blocks to which my eyes are drawn. Then when you step back from the quilt, the beautiful overall design appears. It, also, appeals to me because I find it boring to make 30 of the same block.

  48. Janet says:

From the current issue I like the Bunny Patch quilt. I like to do small quilts to use as seasonal decorations for a throw on the back of my living room furniture. This one fits the bill for Spring and I have time to make it. I also like the option for the Calico Clothworks quilt.
    Thank you

  49. Victoria M. says:

It’s hard to choose a favorite, they are all so great, but I’ll pick Hidden Treasures. I’d try making it in homespuns and earth tones. Thanks for having this contest.

  50. Rita Hanegraaf says:

I like the one on the cover of the issue “Quiltmaker’s Garden”. It is something different with many challenges and comes together for a beautiful top for a daughter or granddaughter’s bed. I may hve to try it and use up some of my stash…..and oh ya….buy more fabric. I never need an excuse to “buy more fabric.” Love the magazine.

  51. Reta J. Lawrence says:

I really like Petal Path by Kay Mackenzie in the red, white and blue color way. It has great contrast and an appealing design. Plus it feels patriotic.

  52. Nikki says:

I really like the petal path with the simplistic design and flexibility to change colors makes this my favorite

I am partial to log cabin type quilts and this one is so unique that I already had the magazine open to it (so much so it doesn’t want to close) trying to decide if I really needed to figure it out and start another quilt. And I would also love to win one of your quilt tops. I have been thinking of making quilts for the local women’s shelter and this would give me a great headstart.

  61. Terry Mathieu says:

I fell in love with the chain reaction pattern in the March/April issue. In fact I purchased some white, blue and purple material to make this quilt for my sister in law who is getting married in July. Those are her wedding colors. I plan to give her fabric pens, so she can have people sign the white areas of the quilt during her wedding reception. If I do win one of your quilt tops that would be a great top for me to long arm quilt and then send it to a missionary or a women’s shelter.

  62. Pat M says:

I love Calico Clockworks and the techniques used. Any fabric would work to make
    a great quilt.

I like Hidden Treasures, especially the colours!!

  71. Kathy Upton says:

I see I am #723 and while I did not read all the responses before me I would guess that Petal Path is the favorite…or is it the Petal Pusher fabric by Windym that grabs us all. As a younger person I NEVER would have chosen a pink and orange combination, but today it is so “now” and I love it!

I like them all but Petal Path is appealing.
