The Jan/Feb issue of Quiltmaker is now available and it’s a beauty!
Don’t you just love it when a new magazine comes out and its cover is fresh and clean and completely inspiring?! We sure do, and this one fits the bill.
See the top right corner with the big THREE-O? That’s right, Quiltmaker turns 30 in 2012 and we’re planning all kinds of things in celebration. There will be a special quilt, special remakes of classic QM patterns, interviews with special people and more. It’s going to be a great year.
See the top left corner where it says “New!”? That’s because we have a new Project Linus pattern in this issue. Here’s a little preview.
It’s called Up, Up and Away and this year, I had the privilege of designing it. The brightly-colored fabrics are from Timeless Treasures, aren’t they perfect?
For more than a decade now, we have annually designed a foundation-pieced pattern and made it available free.
Anyone, anywhere is invited to use the free pattern for a charity quilt for Project Linus or any other good cause.
All of the patterns from past years are also online, and they are all free. The patterns make great baby quilts for your favorite little people, too. Here are previews of two more.

Kite 'n' Kaboodle was the 2009 Project Linus pattern. It is free online.Play Ball! was the 2008 Project Linus pattern. It is also free online.
Are you inspired to sew yet?! I sure am!
Other Jan/Feb highlights include the next pattern in the Patch Pals Collection. This guy is called Prickly Patch—he’s a hedgehog! His name may be Prickly but he is definitely warm and fuzzy! We have convenient kits for him, too.
And how about that Valentine cover quilt? Hearts Afloat makes mine go pitter patter! The fabrics are Smitten by Barb Tourtillotte for Clothworks.
Those are just a few of the things to like in this issue. Pour a cup of coffee and browse your copy today!

I just love the patch pal designs-each one is sweeter than the last. Prickly Patch is now officially my favorite!
OOh I cannot wait to get mine in the mail. Hearts Afloat is just beautiful and makes a great cover.
I’ve made several of the Project Linus blocks. Love them all. Plan to be more productive in that department in the coming year. Love the new one. Thanks.
I did not have a subscription when this issue came out and would like to find a pattern for the hearts afloat quilt. i could not find anything on any of the links that i clicked on.
