I got to try out a new Olfa product recently and I really liked it. These are Olfa’s Precision Applique Scissors and they are 5″ long.
Like other Olfa products, they are beautifully engineered and they just feel great in your hands—doesn’t matter which hand you cut with, either! The symmetrical design works equally well for right-handed folks or lefties (I’m a lefty so I can vouch for that).
My favorite feature is the roomy finger loops. When I reach for these at the machine, there’s no struggle to fit my fingers into the handles. Just grab and snip with the super-sharp blades which are about 1.5″ long when measured from the rivet. Not too short, not too long. Just right.
If you need a good applique scissors, give these a go. They are supposed to accurately cut up to six layers of fabric at a time, but I actually cut eight layers with no problem. I don’t often need to cut multiple layers but it’s sure nice to know I can when I need to.
The Precision Applique Scissors are reasonably priced at $24.99. In case you need to know, these are US Model #:1096876. Visit your local quilt shop and see if they have a pair. I think you’ll like them.
I’ll be happy to share the pair I reviewed with a Quilty Pleasures reader, and I’ll throw in a copy of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 4. Leave a comment by midnight Thursday, Dec. 8 telling me about your favorite scissors. We’ll announce a winner here on Friday.
The winner is Sharon S., who left comment #3, chosen at random.org. Sharon blogs at desertthreads.blogspot.com.
It was really interesting to hear how many people are using scissors that have been passed down to them from moms, grandmas and even great-grandmas. Who would have guessed that scissors are so sentimental?! Thanks for all of the great comments.

My favorite pair of scissors is the Singer Dressmaker Scissors I received as a high school graduation gift in ’71. It’s probably mostly sentiment, but I love those scissors. This is a great giveaway. Thank you!
My favorite for years was the gingher until olfa came out with the rotary cutter. It can almost take the place of scissors!
My favorite scissors have always been Fiscars but I do love Olfa now too. I tried a pair at a friends and couldn’t believe how sharp they are.
Being a pattern designer, the applique ones would certainly come in handy.
Any OLFA product has always been superior in quality. It’s the only brand I use for rotary cutters
i to live in rural Nebraska and love every minute of it. just trying to teach myself to quilt, but have a love of butterflies. the only way i can think of to incorporate butterflies into a quilt would be to applique them. would like to use several different styles and shapes, just need a more deffinate idea how to go about it. would love to be able to use these new scissors in this project.
I love my tiny yellow scissors that a friend gave me many years ago – complete with a hand-embroidered case.
I’ve only ever had Fiskars. I have a professional scissors sharpener and can keep them sharp, so I’ve never had to purchase any others.
My Favourite scissors are my left handed ones. They cost a lot more than right handed ones, why I’m not sure, so they are precious to me.Other members of my family use all of the scissors in the house except these. They can’t use them as they are too uncomfortable to cut with..well they ARE all right handed so my left handed sewing scissors are safe from harm!
I don’t have a pair right now – as long as mine are sharp, that’s ok. When I get my studio finished and I get started, then I’ll figure out my favorite! LOL!
I like to have all sizes of scissors – so I can pick the right one for each project – also they keep disappearing under piles of fabric so it is good to a few!!
My favourite scissors are my small stork scissors. They were given to me by my grandmother many years ago. I use them when I’m doing my handwork.
I have a pair of 4″ Dovo scissors that I would not trade for the world. Made in Germany and sharp as a razor almost, but fit so comfortably in my hand. They are just terrific for precision cutting.
That’s not to say that I would turn down this Olfa. You can never have too many scissors.
My favorites are a pair of Fiscar 7″ that came with a sharpener. They are good to take to classes. Because they are a medium size I can use them for both fabric cutting and thread snipping. With the sharpener I can keep them sharp too.
My favorite scissors is pinking shears. I think yours is really great. Maybe I’ll win them.
I absolutely love my little ghinger embroidery scissors. They’re so pretty and so sharp!
My favorite pair of scissors is a tiny pair of scissors shaped like a stork. They belonged to my mother until her death over 30 years ago. When asked what I would like of hers I requested the scissors. They have been with me ever since & help me finish all my sewing projects whether they are knitting or sewing. My mother taught me how to knit & sew & I feel like she is still there at my side helping me.
I love the tiny old scissors that I have, but could sure use a new pair!
Thanks for a chance to win a pair!
Merry Christmas!
My FAV scissors are my Gingher knife edge applique. The wide flat blade on the one side is awesome for ensuring I’m not cutting something I’m not suppose to be. Olfa appears that they would be much lighter weight, so I’m excited about that.
Gingher 6-inch double-curved scissors are my favorite because they make it easy to trim applique projects that are created with the use of an embroidery hoop.
All my scissors are my favorites – really! I have my mother’s Gingher pinking shears that remind me when she taught me to put in zippers (before she would let me sew), then there are the Karen Kay Buckly scissors with the serrated edges which cut my applique pieces perfectly and then my Havel’s with the pretty pink handles. Would LOVE to try OLFA’s – pick me pick me
I use both ghinger and olfa. I’m a fan of anything that stays sharp after lots of use. Just finished some applique for a baby blanket but will be doing more, I’m sure so would love to win.
I have a little pair of nippers that fit on my ring finger and I can hold in my palm to quickly nip a thread as I am sewing~ I don’t know who makes them, they were a gift many years ago and I just love them. They are always right next to my machine. I like the idea of larger finger loops and would love to try this pair next to my embroidery chair. Thanks for the chance!
My favs are my Gingher embroidery scissors – great for quick snips of my quilting thread!
My favorite scissors are a pair of relatively cheap Tonic brand scissors with non-stick coating and a blade sleeve. They are always in my purse for various hand sewing I take places with me, and then move to my sewing room when I’m in there for snipping threads, cutting out applique pieces and myriad other things. The problem? My dog got ahold of them and liberally chewed the soft coating from the grips
I don’t have a favorite pair yet. I keep buying different ones but nothing has been special enough to make me love them. These just might be the right ones!
I got a pair of Solingen scissors with 1 1/2 inch blades after my sister visited Germany. Very sharp and very handy. thanks for the chance to win.
Gingher is my preferred brand of scissors …. I have yet to try Olfa.
I love little scissors! They are not all the best quality so I would love to try out yours.
My favorite scissors are a pair of Singer Dressmaker scissor that belonged to my grandma. She taught me everything crafty and its like having her with me.
My very favorite scissors are a pair of relatively small, stainless, straight scissors my father started used in his drycleaning plant when he did altering…65 yrs. ago!! Needless to say, they’re pretty sentimental. My next favorite has been 2 sizes of Elna I’ve purchased.
I don’t even know the brand of my favourite scissors, but I can tell you that I bought them about 6 years ago at the Sugar Pine Company in Canmore, Alberta. They were embroidery-sized scissors with roomy handles – like the new Olfa you are descibing, only these had purple handles. They went with me everywhere for handwork, to retreats, etc., and were alwasys at my machime for snipping threads while quilting. I recently had the trip-of-a-lifetime, to Australia, and was working on a hand project as we travelled long distances by train. Sadly I lost my ziplock baggie with my project, my favourite scissors, favourite thimble, thread, needles, pre-cut fabric pieces – the lot! Sounds like Olfa may have come out with these new scissors at a really good time for me. (PS I did replace all the fabrics, etc., and did manage to finish the project, but couldn’t find scissors to match the ones I lost.)
My favorite scissors are the many small pairs I own. One pair to keep by the machine and the others to go with my knitting, embroidery and other handwork projects. Can’t have too many scissors!
I lost my pair of Olfa scissors, I was heartbroken and haven’t replaced them yet. Waiting for a good sale. Love the rotary cutters by Olfa best!!
Ohh I have to have a pair of these. I lost my small scissors that were very sharp and I have bought several more but none have been very sharp at the tip. I love doing applique but clipping the small areas for turning can be trying if your scissors are not the best. I won’t use any other rotary cutter but Olfa. They make the best.
I have used Gingher scissors ever since the scissor sharpener in a store ruined what he called my cheap scissors. Gingher’s are good and I don’t let that guy near them!
Ginger scissors for sure are my favorite.
My favorite scissors are my Gingher embroidery scissors – I have 4 pairs! Thanks for the opportunity to enter your great giveaway!
My Gingher are my favs but I would love these applique scissors as I’m just starting out doing applique. I need all the help I can get.
Thanks for the chance to win, the new pair of scissors look terrific.
My best scissors are two clover scissors a small one and a larger ☺
Liebe Grüße
Bente – Germany
I have a pair of Gingher micro-serrated applique scisors that I love but I would like to try these Olfa scissors. I love the easy access handles.
I’ve got a tiny pair of gingher scissors with gold handles and I use them all them time!
My favorite cutting tool is an i-slice I bought from pampered chef. It’s not really scissors but it works very well on everything but fabric. My favorite fabric scissors would be fiskar (sp). The one’s that are flat on one side are so nice!
I have two pair of Ginghers that I love — bigger shears for cutting bigger pieces or through multiple layers, and a small pair for embroidery. But you can never have too many scissors, right?! I’d be thrilled to win a pair of these — the QM magazine is just icing!
I love my ginghers. I have several different pair and have loved working with them. The dressmaker ones are the ones I use the most. Thank you for the chance to try a different brand.
I really love my Gingher applique scissors because of the curved handle and duck bill blade. I’ve been looking at these Olfa scissors as an extra pair to have on hand. Maybe Santa will fill my stocking!
My favorite scissors are the little blue handled ones that came with my Brother sewing machine. Just love them, but I might have to try these Olfa scissors as the handles look really comfy.
my favorite scissors are a small pair of Fiskars. they are pretty good, but would sure like to try/have these!! thanks.
My favorite scissors are by Heritage – they’re serrated, spring=loaded ones that are PERFECT for raw edge quilts. I also love that I can use them right or left handed! (I’m ambidextrous.)
KZK
My favorite part of small scissors are surgical snips I buy at stores that sell nurses scrubs. They have such a nice, tiny, sharp point!
My favorite scissors are a pair of small ones I purchased at Walmart. Not very expensive but I use them for my applique and for clipping threads. Thanks for the chance to own such nice scissors.
I don’t really have a favorite; but, one of my scissors have gone missing. It was a Fiskars and looked a lot like this Olfa pair. Thank you for a chance to win!
I have many scissors given to me by a friend- none sharp (his wife must have worn them out) lol- and I have a pair of Fiskars I bought when I started quilting several years ago—–
Sadly- I don’t have a favorite- nor do I have Olfa – so maybe this would make the perfect combination!!!!
I can’t say that I have a pair of favorite scissors. I use my Fiskars for fabric cutting. These scissors look awesome. Would love to try them.
I love appliqued quilts, but don’t enjoy cutting out all the little pieces. These scissors look like they would be really helpful, especially w/ the big loops for one’s finger/thumb. Cutting with my fiskars can get tiring, as they are so large, not made for intricate cutting.
My favorite is the pair with the curved blade. Great for applique and for trimming threads anywhere.
I would really like to have some nice applique’ scissors like these. My favorite pair of scissors are for fabric and cost very little. They have a pink plastic handle. I use them nearly every day. They need a new friend!
My favorite sissors are the 4 pair of Olfa’s I have scattered around my sewing room and my house. I also have two Olfa rotary cutters. You can see I’m a fan of Olfa’s
My favorite pair is a pair of Singer shears that belonged to my late mother-in-law. Not ones I use all the time, but my favorite ones with memories of all the fabric she cut with them.
Those scissors are the perfect size for sooooooooo many things.
I have always used Ginghers for cutting, but with a rotary cutter, I rarely use scissors!! However, a tiny pair of embroidery scissors sits at my machine all the time for clipping threads. These look really awesome to have, though! I would love them.
I’ve never had a ‘name’ pair of scissors…even my rotary cutter is a ‘fashion’ one that i borrowed from my daughter and never – ehrm, remembered – to return. It’s pink and shiny though, and cuts things.
barzi10091(at)aol(dot)com
I have Fiskars as scissors…never knew that there were Olfa ones. I only have Olfa rotary cutters…
I’, left handed and I also have large hands ,these scissors look like they would be very comfortable.
I like the Soft-touch ones by Fiskars with the spring action. But these look very comfortable- I like the large finger openings.
I do not own a favorite pair of scissors. The one I use most was in a “6 for $5 made in China package” that my mother ordered by mail. So, if win, would be delighted and it would be so awesome!
I have a pair of Fiskars spring-loaded scissors that are my fav right now. But I would love to try the Olfa!
I am forever looking for my scissors. I never have enough and would love a Olfa.
Oh,I am so embarassed to say it but here it goes…………….My favorite pair of scissors is the pair that are in my hand, …. what I mean is,…I have the most TERRIBLE habit of putting whatever pair of scissors I am using at the time in with the project that I’ve put away to pick up again later and it usually ends up with me just buying more and more scissors to replace the ones that I can’t find or can’t remember where I left them!!!LOLO! About once or twice a year,I will raid my sewing room for a scissors hunt and I usually find pairs upon pairs of scissors stashed away in there!! If there ever is a “scissor-of-the-month” club,I will be first to sign up for it!!! But,I don’t have that nice pair that you’re giving away and I’m dying to try them out!!!
I’ve been satisfied with my Fiskars but in reading the various scissor posts out there I’m thinking I need to explore my options!
My favorite pair of scissors are an old pair of Fiscars, I bought years ago and it was the best pair I could afford at the time. I have a small pair I use for clipping and their no name and ancient but sharp. But I would love to try Olfa and the applique scissors look like you can use them for very fine work.
I would love a pair of appliqué scissors with the new roomy handles. I have a nice pair of Clover 135. They trim nice, but they have small handle openings.
Love my old black-handled Wiss scissors and pinking shears, but they are sooooo heavy. Would love to win a nice small applique scissors like this.
Thanks for the review!
I had a really good pair of applique’ scissors but took them in for sharpening and they ruined them. I’m excited to hear about Fiskars introducing these scissors. Of course, I’d love to win a pair and put them to the test with hand and machine applique, as well as applique machine embroidery.

I have a pair of sharp-pointed spring-loaded scissors that I use at the sewing machine. The spring action is very comfortable when you have to do a lot of little cuts (always seem to have a lot of those dog-ears). But, I have always wanted a pair of these Olfa (or similar) scissors to use for applique. Also, the points on my spring-loaded scissors aren’t as sharp as they used to be…
My favorite is a pair of Fiskars with pink handles bought during a breast cancer prevention campaign.
The scissors that I use the most are Fiskars, however, I would not say that they are favorites. I surely would like to try these new applique scissors!
My favorite scissors are a very old pair that I found at an antique shop, they never fail me and I keep getting them sharpened. A small pair would be handy for fine work.
Oooh, oooh, I’m just getting into appliqui and thinking that there is probably a better scissors to cut those small pieces with. If I don’t win them, they will go on my Christmas list.
Oh, I so need a pair of scissors like this! I use Fiskars for pretty much everything having been a fan of theirs for many years. When I was teaching, it’s what I always bought for the classroom to use. They stood up.
to pretty much everything
My favorite general use scissors have a comfy grip and spring open handle. I also have a gold stork pair that is very useful for snipping threads.
I love my Gingher scissors, but I could use a pair of short bladed scissors for when I learn to applique. Thanks for the opportunity!
I enjoy the smaller pairs of scissors, Fiskars or Ginghers. This pair that you have would make great ones for the longarm. Easy to grab, bigger finger holes! What a great pair for that! Thanks for the giveaway!
Merry Christmas!
Right now my favorites are a pair of Kai scissors with a curved tip. They really work for the in the hoop applique I’ve been working on.. Sounds like these scissors would be a great addition to my tool supply.
My favorite and most used are my little Ginghers always by my sewing maching!
My favorite scissors were Fiskars untill my husband thought he would be helpful and sharpen them, needless to say it wasn’t very helpful.
My favorite scissors will be this pair if I win! You can never have too many scissors in any size!
Of all the scissors I own, I like my Ginghers the best, especially the little snips I keep next to my sewing machine. I have heard good things about the Olfa applique scissors, but have not been able to find them locally. Thanks for the chance to win a pair!
My favorite scissors are the small curved-tip ones that came with my embroidery machine. I use them more than any of the other scissors in my sewing room…
I have a pair of Mundial Softy scissor that I love. Not sure where I got them but I’m a lefty and they don’t leave an indent in my thumb when I use them.
My favorite scissors were my mother’s – she kept them in their original box in the drawer of her sewing cabinet and woe to any of us four kids who dared to use these large shiny and incredibly sharp shears without express permission. She lived in fear of us using them to cut paper dolls and threatened us with dire consequences if we were caught in the act. I believe they were Fiscars, but it was forty years ago! One of my sisters may have them, still carefully guarded and tucked away in Mom’s sewing cabinet.
Well I don’t have a favorite pair of scissors. Maybe these will be them. I do love my Olfa products.
My favorite scissors are Fiskars soft touch. they are easy to use and do not cramp my hands.
My favorite pair of scissors came from my mom’s collection. They are pinking shears that are extra long. They are so worn that they are loose and easy to use! I will treasure them for ever because they remind me of my mom.
My favorite cutting implement are the three Olfa rotary cutters that I own — could not sew without them — are you planning any new ones? If so, I’m there
Wow! What a great size for a handy pair of scissors to keep by the sewing machine! I love my left-handers’ Fiskars (I have two pair), and a small Gerber precise pair for small work that needs razor sharp details done…my Olfa rotary cutter is indispensible of course …this pair of Olfa would be a happy and welcome addition to my collection of useful tools in the sewing room!
I live my small fiskar embroidery scissors. And my Fons and Porter rag scissors!
My favorite pair of scissors is my Ginger dressmaker shears. This pair of scissors has carried me through many many sewing and quilting projects. Thanks for a chance to win. Judy W
My favorite are Gingher embroidery scissors. I have never used any others since I got these. But would give them a try if I would win a pair.
My favorite has to be my 5″ Kai. They too have the larger finger holes. I also have a pair that have the serated edge that really truly grip the fabric. These by Olfa sound like a great find. Nice review!
Gingher dressmakers, sharp and with enough heft. I also like my small Ginghers. Quality tools are worth the price! I’ll have to try the Olfa scissors.
I used to have a have a small pair Ginghers but recently lost them. I have no idea what happened to them. I was so upset when I lost them. I would love a replacement.
My favourite scissors are Fiskars that don’t have a thumb hole but a spring to reopen them. They are so easy on the hands for cutting. I would love a pair of small scissors for snipping.
Favorite scissors?………..the sharpest ones. :}
I like Fiskar scissors – I have a large pair and a small pair.
Thanks,
Peggy

I have a small pair of Fiskars that have an orange handle and are about the same size as these Olfa’s. Would love to win so I could compare the two and have a pair to keep with my travel sewing machine.
You can never have enough quality scissors! Thanks for the chance to win!
My favorite is a pair of Ginghers, Fleur-De-Lis embroidery scissors, probably because my son gave them to me
But, I would love to try the Olfa Precision Applique ones!
My favorite sheers are my Mundial’s! They are super sharp and have a protective blade cover for when not in use. Love them!
I have an old pair of fiskars that I just love. We have had them sharpened and they work just like new
I keep trying what new scissor products come out. I have MS so I look for ease of slice and manipulation.
I would have to say my most favorite pair of scissors are my very first pair that my Mother gave to me. They are dressmaker Ginghers. We had a great time using them when she would come to visit, making all kinds of fun things over the years. Thank you for the chance to win Olfa Scissors. I just started doing applique.
I just love scissors! I have three pair in the kitchen for different things. A pair in my scrap booking room, two pair with my embroidery, three pair near the sewing machine and of course a pair in my purse. You never know when you will need scissors.
I have different scissors for different needs. I have a small pair of cheapo ones in my binding bag, a pair of spring loaded fiskars for snipping apart piecing at my machine and ginghers for applique and any other fabric cutting needs. But cutting 6 layers at once… Whoo!!!
I have a pair of Gingher embroidery scissors, but I’d love to try the Olfa scissors! You can never have too many scissors, at least at my house! Thanks for the giveaway.
I do not have a favorite. All of mine are inexpensive and have not had time to go get a good pair. Hard to find.
These look like great scissors. Most small scissors have such tiny holes for your fingers that I can’t use them. These look like they are big enou to fit my fingers.
My Favorite Scissors… the pair I can find that will actually CUT the fabric!
Right now, it is the red handled pair, not sure of the brand. I do know that a sharp pair of applique scissors is a MUST when working with this type of hand project!
My fave scissors are my Gingher shears that I use to cut fabric lengths. I keep buying different small pairs of scissors looking for one that’s good for cutting small shapes. Maybe this is the one.
I have a pair of snips that look a bit like tweezers. I love them, they are really sharp but not difficult to use (I have arthritis in my hands now and they can be painful trying to use scissors) – I can’t cut much fabric with them as they are only tiny but I hang them from my machine to cut bits and pieces and threads and….
I love my Ginger dressmaker shears. I finally got the family educated to “Don’t touch, even touch Mom’s scissors!!!!” Now we have grandchildren! So I’m more careful about putting them away but the rule still applies. I have a small pair of scissors that I keep at my sewing machine but my fingers get stuck in the finger loops often. These sound like they are made for me. Thanks for the info.
I have a favorite set of scissors, all matching Gingher lavender and white 8 inch shears, 4 inch scissors and a 3 inch for embroidery, but I’m all willing to add to my collection.
I love to try all different kinds of scissors. I teach hand applique and like to try different products. I have Gingher 5″ scissors that I have been using for years and have recently started using Karen Kay Buckley’s small serrated scissors that I like to use also. I have heard that Dovo scissors are good also. I would love to win the Olfa scissors for the giveaway. Thanks for the chance.
My favourite pair of scissors was the one my Mother used for her sewing. It was an iron scissors which was very heavy and needed to be well looked after. Then a few years back Fiskar scissors were available in India and that became my favorite. It is light and needs no looking after. I am waiting to try Olaf but it is still not available here. So I hope I get to try it.
Thank you for this give away.
I have a small pair of scissors with a curved blade, that makes them easy to use to snip threads, etc. without accidentally cutting into my piecing.
A few years ago I was in my local Joann’s and they had several pairs of ginger snips on clearance. The price was so good I bought all they had and have given them as little gifts to my quilty friends. Mine are kept on a scissors fob with a pully-thingy that clips to my shirt so I have them when I sew!!
I have only had Fiskar’s would love to win these!
My favorite pair is a small pair of Ginghers that I keep by my machine. I would love to try a pair of Olfa’s.
My favorite scissors happen to be the particular ones that I need for the task at hand. I own and use quite a few different pairs of scissors and have learned that it really makes a difference which pair you use for which task. I probably reach for my Gingher 6″ curved handle scissors most often. I use Gingher dressmaker shears for cutting fabric or my Olfa rotary cutter. I keep a pair of Solingen Bristol Line scissors on my desk and Acme Titanium scissors in the junk drawer in the kitchen. These are only a few of the pairs of scissors that I own. I really like good quality scissors!
I don’t have a favorite pair of scissors so I would love to win this pair of Olfa Precision Applique Scissors. Thanks for the give a way.
my daughter gave me my favorite pair of scissors … little gold stork snips back in the day. so pretty! they’re in my applique sewing kit, so i use them freqently. i need some really good applique scissors to cut my little applique pieces … i would love to win this pair!
My favorite scissors are my Gingher dressmakers shears that my husband gave me for Christmas many years ago. A good pair of applique scissors would be wonderful as there there are some applique projects in my future.
My favorite scissors are a pair of Ginghers I inherited from my mom. Growing up, she drew a clear line between scissors the family could use and her sewing scissors. Now at last I understand why.
I’ve read about these applique scissors and I’d be thrilled to win a pair! Thanks for sharing.
For years I’ve been using an inexpensive Gingher, which seems to never lose it’s sharpness. I’ve been using a small ‘storch’ embroidery scissors for pointy or small things. Just have to be very careful! These Olfa’s look like a great replacement for that!
I recieved a large Gingher scissor about 10 years ago. They are my favorites because they are very, very sharp and very shiney. I found a piece of very soft yarn in my favorite color of purple to tie around the handle. I have threatened everyone in the house if they use my sewing scissors!
always need a new pair of scissors, especially for next to the sewing machine. the ones i use are too big for the space….
I current use Fiskars gray scissors that you squeeze, but would love a pair of Olfa scissors. I think these scissors look like a great addition to my sewing tool kit.
I saw these advertised in a magazine and wondered about them. It’d be great to win a pair. Thanks for the giveaway!
My favourite scissors is the small (3-inch) with flowers in the handle. When I bought, there was no brand so not sure who is the manufacturer.
I’ve just gotten into applique and a good pair of scissors would only help.
Thanks for the chance to win but I will definately look for these.
I thought I was a scissor-holic, but then realized I don’t have any Olfa scissors. Would love to try a pair.
my favorite scissors are the ones the kids and my husband haven’t used
My favorite pair of scissors that I use are Fiskars with the soft handle and lock on them. I have used my grandma’s Gingher scissors before. They are really nice and old! I am 44 and she has had them ever since I can remember. She worked at a sewing factory for many years and was given a pair from them. She retired over 35 years ago and they are still just as sharp and good as the day she got them. I would love to win a pair of them!
I’ve worn out my small ‘nipping’ scissors…they lasted about 25 years. I just bought the set of Titanium that Hancock has right now. They are nice but the small ones don’t have a very fine (precise) end cut. So I would love to try a pair of these. Also, the large openings for your fingers is intriguing because I have large hands.
My favourite scissors are a pair of Fiskars bought for me by my Mum when I was doing A-level textiles at school in the 70′s
If these are as great as all the other OLFA products, I’d love a pair! Thanks for the giveaway! Happy Holidays to all!
I love my Omni scissors! They are 5″, I think and cut so nicely.
My favorite scissors actually depend upon what I’m doing. For quilting, I love my Fiskars “short” scissors. They look kind of like the large, standard Fiskars scissors, but are a mini version and are only about 4″ long total. They’re great for reaching behind my pressure foot to trim threads when chain piecing.
My other favorite pair are for needle point. I don’t remember who makes them, but they actually fold up to be only about 1″ long, which is great for folding and sticking into a plastic baggy or into my thread carrier. I’ve even used these little scissors to cut applique as they are super sharp and accurate despite being “cheaper” and being able to fold them.
My favorite pair of scissors is a small pair of DuraSharp that I carry in my take-along project bag. My second favorite pair of scissors is a pair of Bell Brand pinking shears. I discovered them in my mother’s sewing box after she passed away. They pink very nicely and they also remind me of the many “Depression Days” pot holders Mom made for our family and friend through the years.
My favorite scissors are a pair from a dissection kit that I bought MANY years ago. They are very fine pointed German steel but have gotten dull over the years, so I’d love to try those new Olfa ones. I especially like the larger finger openings.
thanks!
My very favorite scissors are the ones that I inherited from my grandmother. I remember using them when she was teaching me to sew, at age 6. I spent many years cutting doll clothes from her scraps. And they’re still the pair that I use most often, almost every day. They work well to cut out appliques but I’ve often wondered how a smaller pair would work. I appreciate the chance to find out!
My favorite scissors are the Gingher Dressmaker shears that my husband gave me as a Christmas gift for our first Christmas together. They still cut as nicely as they did in 1983 with no need of sharpening or adjusting.
Ooh I LOVE those little scissors you’re showing us. So many of the smaller scissors like that also have tiny finger/thumb areas and then you get your fingers stuck. I hate that but, these look awesome.
My favorite scissors are my Fiskars Soft touch spring loaded scissors. I had to get something to help me because I was dealing with some hand and thumb problems and those with their spring tension helped so much. I chose that pair after using the same ones in a class at my Viking dealers’ class I was taking.
My favorite scissors are Fiskars spring loaded that open on their own. Thank you for the chance to win these beautiful scissors. They just might become my favorites.
Take care and God bless, Cory
My favorite scissors are little nippers that have a small and very sharp point, since I usually only cut threads at the machine. I’d love to win this pair, as I’m teaching myself to applique with some small winter projects.
Santa, oh Santa…. I’ve been an awfully good girl this year. My favorite pair of scissors? one of the 14 pr I have that I can find when I need them, including the pair pinned to my shirt. :}
My favorite scissors are my Fiskars. Thanks for the chance to win these scissors which would be really nice to use.
I love Karen Buckley’s applique scissors, as well as Gingher, but really, can a girl have to many scissors? I would love to try these and the 100 blocks magazine. Ladies, I figured out I need to hide my scissors or certain “people” in my house think it is ok to cut paper and tags, etc. – jeepers.
I am a scissorholic. I buy them just because I like the look of them. My favorite is a stork pair. I carry them in my bag all the time. Would love to add this pair to my collection.
I have an old fabric scissors from my mom. Still works great! Thanks!
I am a scissors nut and would love to add these to my collection – I do use them all at different times so am not sure you call this a collection, certainly not a stash of scissors. Like scissors with big handles and these do look good for applique.
So far, my favorite scissors is a pair of Kai a friend gifted me. They are nice and short and very sharp. However, I am looking forward to trying out the Olfa Loop scissors very soon.
I love all kind of little . I collect different ones. I love my little stork scissors. these scissors look really cool and would love to have a pair. thanks for letting me share my thoughts. carol colllins . collins 17211@yahoo .com
I love all scissors! The little ones are so cute and the big ones are so handy. I guess if I have to choose I’ll pick my ginghers. Maybe if I win one of these Olfas they will become my new favorite.
I love my Fiskers scissors for Kids. I have several of these inexpensive scissors around my house to trim treads and clip seams.
I have a pair of small gingher embroidery scissors that I keep with me at the sewing machine. This pair of scissors offered would let me have an extra pair to use in other places.

My favorite scissors are my very old and antique “stork scissors”. They mean so much to me as they were my great-grandmothers. I am planning on putting them into a shadow box collage after the first of the year.
My favorite pair of scissors is a large pair of Wiss shears I bought almost 20 years ago. They cut like a dream. I keep them hidden so that no one uses them on paper and they have stayed wonderfully sharp. They are my best pair for cutting backings and trimming layers before binding.
