Today’s Linkin’ Logs quilt takes off in a new direction and I think you’ll like it.
Its maker is Kim Brandt from Poughkeepsie, New York. Kim has a quilting blog you might enjoy. Just recently she blogged in photos about a trip to Chile, so if you’re in the market for some inspiration, it abounds in those posts.
Kim shared with me about her Linkin’ Logs process:
Let me audition some scraps for the new pattern…should I use these strips I have already cut, since they are just the right size?
How about using this Jelly Roll for the new assignment? No, not enough contrast.
What about this? Yes, I like this fabric…some of The Very Hungry Caterpillar line. This will make a nice baby quilt. I like this border and I can give the quilt along with a copy of the book by Eric Carle.
The pattern goes together quickly and easily. Look how cute it is! All pieced and ready for quilting. Debby Brown will quilt it for me.
Fast forward! The quilt comes back from the quilter.
The back came out well, too…all that beautiful quilting.
A beautiful job by Kim, and it’s completely different from any of the other Scrap Squad versions! Sometime we’ll invite Kim to send us photos of her yard—she’s a master gardener so I’m sure we’d be in for a treat.

Where can I find the Linkin’ Logs pattern? I really like this design.
