Have you started your mystery quilt?! Part 1 of the Debbie Caffrey mystery, Secret Window, has just been revealed in our May/June ’11 issue and there is still time to join our online quilt-along over at Quilter’s Club of America.
My version is called Summer and uses Simple Pleasures by Debbie Beaves for RJR Fabrics, as well as some prints from Crazy for Dots & Stripes, also from RJR Fabrics.
Summer Palette
I loved the floral prints in Debbie’s line, but as a person who is really drawn to geometric shapes, I wanted to include some more graphic prints into my palette. I think the assorted dot prints add a touch of fun to the entire quilt. Take a look at my pieces for Part 1 and I think you’ll see what I mean.

It has been really fun to work on this project and see the pieces come together. I can’t wait to see how they might work with Part 2.

I plan on using my stash. I have an old focus fabric that I plan on using with color values of purple (4) and green (3). I may throw in a blue that I like too…this is my first mystery quilt so I dont know if by doing that I will through the whole colorway out of whack…so I havent decided just yet. I hope to start sewing this week. Wish me luck!
I’m doing mine for my nana for christmas at least i’m going to try its only my second quilt . I’m done so i am itching to get the next issuse!!
