I am a fan of re-purposing. Love quilting & crafting GREEN. I have made rag quilts out of my children’s old baby blankets this way they are still used and loved by them. I have taken outgrown clothes and made quilts, aprons, etc. from them. I use empty tea tins for sewing supplies. I use plastic from packaging for paint pallets. So many great ways to recycle that us quilters and crafters can do.

The addicted to scraps section of Quilt Maker is one of my favorites. It is especially of interest as my main quilting goal for this year is to utilize most of my scrap material. I find myself using almost every block that she has published in QM at some point in time. I’m also participating in an “Ugly Quilt Challenge” through a group I belong to and have used several of her blocks in the sampler I’m making using the “Ugly” fabric I’ve received from other group members. Putting them all together has made quite an interesting sampler.

I have been a scrap quilter for many years. It’s my first love. I can remember reading an article in a quilting magazine some years back about using leaders and enders, and have done so ever since. I am a new quilter and I have never heard of Bonnie before and I would love to receive one of her books. I have made purses with recycled doiles and napkins from my great aunts and grandmother and I try to recycle scraps such as from dresses and men’s shirts. Several years ago, when I cleaned & organized my stash, I used Bonnie’s system for cutting strips & storing fabric. All my quilting friends thought I was nuts! NOW, they have discovered Bonnie, and are envious of my well organized stash! I’d love to win her new book!
I am in the process of organizing (again!) my vast collection of scraps into some semblance of usefullness, and Bonnie is the GODDESS as far as scrap organization goes. She is a HUGE inspiration for me in this process. The bonus is that my husband will also be pleased with the result, as I share my sewing room with his exercise equipment. (How easy is it to use the many appendages of the Bowflex machine to display my pieces of fabric!)
I’d really like to take a class from Bonnie Hunter; getting a book is a great substitute in the meantime.

I just was turned on to Bonnie at a regional retreat sponsored by the Quilters Anonymous in Casper, Wy. One of their members Laurie was working on one of Bonnie’s designs and I fell in love!! I went to Bonnie’s website and printed MANY of her patterns and shared several with members in my quilting group The Quilting Chicks in Gillette, WY. I love scrap quilts- they are the most interesting quilts I make. I like to use up all my fabric. I save everything, and keep a look out for patterns that can be made with scraps.

I learned from my Grandmother and from my “adopted” Granny Hoffman (a next door neighbor when I was growing up) how to save and reuse almost anything. Granny Hoffman saved cotton string to knit dishclothes, and Grandma Meyer cut breadbags to crotchet into very durrable and long lasting doormats and kitchen rugs. I am happy to see a return to this reuse of materials, and would love to see new patterns and ways to do it.
I love Bonnie. I have made a couple of her Mystery Quilts and many of her scrappy quilts. She is great. No wonder she is considered the best teacher. I would absolutely love a copy of her book. Hugs

I loved Leaders and Enders and I recently overhauled my scrap system based on her advise on Quiltville- it’s so much easier to put scrap quilts together now.

Love the blue and wite quilt in Quiltmaker. I also looked at some of the pages from the book and the blue and brown quilt is in my colors! Also really liked the info on cutting up a shirt. A couple of years ago we had a local speaker who makes all her quilts from shirts and they were wonderful. It got me hooked and I’ve bought lots of shirts at garage sales real cheap but wasn’t sure how to cut them most efficiently. Would love to win the book for all the wealth of information.

Our quilt guild has been using her website for a scrap block draw for the last year and I just bought the first book at the last meeting. I just love Bonnie. I am on a waiting list for one of her classes in the fall. I wish I hadn’t waited so long to sign up. I made my first scrap quilt..RRCB this past fall and it’s on my bed now. That the biggest hardest quilt I’ve ever made since I’m a fairly new quilter. I loved making it and now I’m hooked and working on my scraps applying the Scrap Users System.

I have just spend a whole day drooling over patterns and new fabrics – but, I am trying to conquer greed in my life – I have promised I will not believe in “the person who dies with the biggest stash wins.” I have decided I will do my very best to not buy any fabrics – I am forcing myself to design from my stash. I will buy small amounts of matching or completer fabrics for quilts – but nothing new for design elements. I love Bonnie’s patterns and am now working on the Lady of Lake Erie (I live on the lake) for my son who is a merchant marine. I love blue and white patterns and this one really hit home for me!

Having just taken a class with Bonnie Hunter…absolutely delightful…and in the middle of making/finishing the quilt started in this class, a signed copy of her new book would be just great!!! She is a wonderful speaker and teacher…well worth the time!!!
