*Q&E: What’s Your Thread Stash Like? Giveaway!

We had a lively discussion about fabric stash here recently, and we started wondering about another kind of stash. How much thread do you own? What kinds of thread do you buy? Do you embroider by machine?

A gorgeous assortment of Sulky threads!

Our friends at Sulky have sent us some of their thread stash for a giveaway! Leave a comment describing your thread stash by midnight, May 31 and we’ll pick several random winners. (Yes, that’s a long time for the giveaway to be open but we want to include people who may not hear of it until they read the May/June issue, as well as the readers of Quiltmaker’s Quilting & Embroidery.) 1. DebrafromMD says:

I’m a total thread ‘Ho. I love it all – cottons, silks, poly, invisible, metallics, varigated. I have it all so my thread stash is quite extensive. I don’t embroider by machine but I may try thread painting on my long-arm once I’ve had a little more practice on the basics.

  2. Jody Edwards says:

I have one spool of white thread by Sulky, and I have two mostly-empty spools of white cotton thread by ??? (discount). I really, REALLY need some thread, so I hope the random generator picks me! Oh, I also have some cotton coats n clark in a hot pink that was a hand-me-down. I’d love to win some quality thread! I dont’ have a stash, I buy it as I need it, and usually have just enough to complete a project. *pout*

  3. Esther says:

My thread stash is somewhat small (compared to my fabric stash!) I have about 6 spools of machine quilting thread, 3 dozen spools of various colors of Guterman all purpose and a shoebox full of spools inherited from my Nana. These don’t get used to often, but on occasion I’ll use some for sentimental reasons.

  4. Deb says:

I have 20-25 spools of thread, regular sewing thread, Gutterman, and a few King Tut. It seems that when I get ready to quilt a thread though I never have the right color, so I’ll go out and buy some more. I’d like to try some different threads like silk for my next quilting project.

  5. robin says:

My thread stash is truly pitiful. End of story.

  6. Gidget says:

I have a few spools from Connecting Threads and a few multi-color from Silky. I really like thread and have a hard time resisting.

  7. Sequana says:

Let’s just say I have three wooden thread stands and each of those has cut drinking straws on the posts to make room for more spools.

Just about any type or brand. Of course like someone above, I run out of the threads I use most for piecing. I have two machines and each of them likes some brand best.

    I don’t machine embroider.

  8. Stacey says:

I have pretty much 2 spools of guiterman, 4 or 5 coats and clark quilting thread, and some old polyester thread. my thread stash is very sad, i tend to buy only as needed.

  9. Trystan says:

My stash… hummm….??? Well… since I’m only a beginner quilter (as of 9mths or so) my stash is not that big… About the size of a large yogurt container full of Gutermann and Birch machine threads…. as for my DMC embroidery threads… *puffs out chest with pride* Iv a few… My mother in law – bless her – loves to appliqué and gave me for my birthday last year and entire series (if thats what how you say it) of DMC threads in almost every colour there is by the look of it !! I enjoy appliqué myself but really REALLY LOVE stitchery… It is my goal to learn the art of hand embroidery… But I also have just taught myself how to satin stitch by machine (tad proud of that)!!

  10. Brie says:

I have Gutterman, Aurifil which is my fav for sewing but I also have a nice collection of Sulky for all my Verigated threads. I use DMC for all my hand embroidery but I’d really like to try some Comso by Liecen.

Either way it’s needs some serious boosting :)

  11. Lynn Crone says:

my thread stash is pathetic had to run to the store to purchase some to finish last quilt. I would be very blessed to win some thread. have no basic colors or neutral at all have some gray some black and some multi colored from grand girls quilt. a room full of fabric and no thread that is just so wrong…….

  12. Susan says:

Since I just started with quilting and machine embroidery my stash is small but I can see the potential of it growing by leaps and bounds. I just took a class and used some King Tut thread for quilting and fell in love with it. I have several colors of Sulky and Gutterman embroidery threads.

  13. barbara blair says:

I have mainly quilting thread in lots of colors arranged on spool holders from light to dark, and some discount embroidery thread. Would LOVE to win the Sulky thread!

  14. Joyce Cloud says:

my thread stash is rather small and what I do have is a mixture of different kinds of thread.. I am trying to learn how to quilt and embroider by machine..

  15. Nichole Alvarez says:

I have hardly any thread, as I am just getting started. This would be a great way to expand my small (less than 10) thread collection!

  16. SewLindaAnn says:

I’ve got a file cabinet drawer full of embroidery thread for my machine, and a few spools of clearanced out 50 cent metallics to try. There’s also a Aurifil, Mettler and Gutterman for piecing as well as a couple of clearanced out Valdani threads to try.

  17. Kathy Lohberger says:

I have one container (120 spools) of Sulky embroidery threads, 40 wt., about four spools of various Sulky bobbin threads, A couple of dozen Mettler embroidery threads, (40 wt), a handful of Mettler 30 wt 100% polyester threads (all purpose sewing), a dozen Gutterman all-purpose 30 wt 100% polyester, and 2 gift boxes of Gutterman all-purpose 30 wt 100% polyester multi-colors–and THREE whole spools of AUROFIL (quilting/applique 2 28 wt, one 50 wt,) Sulky makes beautiful embroidery designs.

  18. Diane Hayka says:

Since I’m a fairly new quilter [3 years], I do not have a large stash of fabric or thread. Much less thread of course than fabric. I really like using sulky [which I received two spools when I subscribed to Fons and Porter magazine] and embroidery thread because of the wide variety of color. For hand quilting, I like Mettler thread. I also order a basic collection of neutrals from Connecting Threads as they were on sale and seem to work well in my sewing maching.

  19. Jocelyn says:

My thread stash is mostly Coats and Clark. I’ve also used Connecting Threads and have a few spools. I’ve not really gotten into the more expensive threads, and I’m not too familiar with many of them. I’ve seen Sulky, but always thought they were mostly for embroidery. Thanks for offering a giveaway. I’d love to try Sulky.

  20. jeanne says:

my stash is old thought had alot then realized thread gets old and weak have to start all over

  21. Vivian Oaks says:

I’m working on a BOM at our LQS, and have been buying lots of Gutterman thread for the machine applique. I’ve sewn since I was about 12 years old, so have lots of different types of threads for a variety of sewing needs – clothes, quilting, costumes for church plays, and everything in between. Some are still on wooden spools! I even have lots of the big spools for sergers, since I have one of those, too! :-) But we can always use more, right? :-) Thanks for the chance to win!!

  22. Nancy Derouen says:

Have different collections over the years…embroidery, cotton, DMC, Sulky, Rayon…the more color, the better!

  23. Nancy B from Many LA says:

Compared to my fabric stash my thread stash is paltry. I have a few Aurifils, Coats & Clark, and a couple of I-don’t-remember-what-they-ares. I really need to kick it up a notch! LOL!

  24. Debbie P. says:

I am in the process of building my quilting and embroidery thread stash. I have a good stash of Coats & Clark thread and just bought some Superior Hand Embroidery thread, otherwise it is pretty minimal.

  25. Linda says:

MY THREAD STASH IS SMALL, AS I’M A BEGINNING QUILTER. THANKS SO FOR SHARING!

  26. Tiffany says:

My goodness, thread stashing is pretty different from fabric stashing! I buy thread when I need it and use it until it is gone! I have a spool of black, a spool of white, and a spool of blue. Plus a couple bobbins worth of yellow, red, and green from other projects.

  27. DianeH says:

My stash lives in one small cookie tin. Mostly Coats & Clark, some Gutterman and five lovely spools of Aurifil. Thanks very very much for a chance.

  28. I always thought I had a pretty good thread selection~ but every time I go to topstitch something, I either have just a foot or two left on the spool, or none at all! :-/ I think the elves must be borrowing when I’m not looking, but they don’t leave any finished projects around. lol Thanks for the chance!

  29. Gene Black says:

My thread stash is interesting. I have cotton, poly, rayon and even some “mystery threads”
The poly and rayon was bought when I didn’t do machine embroidery- it was sort of a mistake. Now I have an embroidery machine and it works great.
I have never tried Sulky (shock, shock! ) so I would love to win some to try.

  30. patsy cosby says:

I have a tote of thread. It is all different . I use any that is the right color. My machine will use any kind.I also do machine emb. so i have emb thread . I have brothers, sulky, and mettler. I sew and quilt and emb. so i go through a lot of thread.

  31. Toni says:

Colorful… my stash is not small but not large either…constantly growing. Connecting thread is the most recent addition with 30ish new spools of yummy new colors…but the old colors are always looking forward to meeting new colors…thanks for the chance to win some new threads.

  32. David in Minnesota says:

Lots of thread here of many different types! Enough thread that we have a large thread cabinet to hold it all. Included are many different types of specialty threads.

  33. Deb Martens says:

I love Sulky threads and have quite a few colors of rayon and metallics. I like to use them for quilting and embellishing. I would love to win some!

  34. Marsha says:

I am just beginning to get into having a stash of quilting threads. I have embroidery thread as well. So my thread stash is not very well established yet so winning would really give me a boost.

  35. Linda says:

I use quality threads for all my sewing. If you want good results, use good thread. I embroider so I have quite a few colors and have been sewing for 40 years, but a dedicated “sewer” never has to many colors.

  36. Dana says:

I do machine embroidery so my thread collection is huge, you need every shade, right? I have 3 thread boxes full, a large plastic container 24″ X 12″ X 12″ full of larger spools. I’ve just started collecting cottons for quilting, so the thread box for those is half full, but I’m working on it.

  37. Amanda says:

My thread stash is pretty small and sad at the moment. I generally buy for the project that I need at the moment and then try to use the rest of the spool when I am making something that the thread will not be seen. I love beautiful threads for embroidery and quilting.

  38. Ruth Funk says:

Would love to win, there is no source for Sulky thread where I live in Western Canada. I use a Husqvarna machine, it doesn’t do a lot of embroidery, I mostly use Gutermann but always need more colors.

  39. Jennifer Dancy says:

My thread stash is impressive – but I’ve worked hard to build it and spend a lot to sustain it! I must admit, all of my 100% cotton threads are either Aurifil or Superior, but anything else (rayon, poly, invisible, neon, etc) are all Sulky. I love the sheen and strength of the Sulky threads.

  40. I have a Madeira embroidery thread set, and various Aurifil colors, but am a brand new embroider and find this collection very lacking! I need more Sulky threads to embroider with please!!

Thanks for the giveaway and PICK ME!!!

  41. Karen A says:

Most of my stash is basic all-purpose thread. I do have lots of colors because of all the sewing and alterations I do. I have a few spools of quilting thread and I’m slowly building my collection of rayon and metallic threads.

  42. Chris W says:

i have a small thread stash, definitely not enough to match my fabrics. I have not problem cutting the fabrics and making the tops, but putting the quilting thread into one of my three machines to quilt one is extremely difficult. I wonder if there is a name for this phobia?

  43. Irene Vigil says:

My thread stash consists of every color available except for the one I need right now. I mainly use white for piecing but colors for quilting.

  44. Debbie says:

I haven’t done much machine embroidery, but I’ve collected more than enough thread to do so! I have lots of threads of every type and brand. Yes, including some Sulky, too! Thanks for counting me in.

  45. Deb says:

I have a couple of spools of white and cream. Once I use get low I go to our local quilt shop and buy a couple more. I always use neutrals.

  46. Deb says:

I have a couple of spools of white and cream. Once I get low I go to our local quilt shop and buy a couple more. I always use neutrals and whatever name brand they have…I’m not sure. I guess it’s evident I’m not up on my threads!

  47. Rhonda says:

I have an odd thread stash. I have about 15 small spools of machine embroidery thread that I bought when I first got my machine. I don’t machine embroidery often but when I do I want to have a decent variety. I also have a few spools of silk hand applique thread. I don’t do much hand applique but again, I want to have a variety when I need it. I keep two different colors (light and dark) of my favorite piecing thread 100% cotton. And I am just starting to get into machine quilting so I am working on building that stash.

As far as what I buy…that is funny. I buy the best I can afford. When I bought my silk thread I bought YLI because I “heard” it was good and have been pleased. Since I am working on building my machine quilting stash and need an updated machine embroidery stash I am currently researching those. Boy there are a great deal of opinions and choices. I guess it will be trial and error! I hate lint because I hate cleaning so UGH I wish there were a better way. LOL

  48. NancyMyers says:

I have all kinds of threads and save those last few wraps on a spool for basting. I love lots of colors and various types.

  49. Tamie Powell says:

I have tons of thread… Sulky Poly embroidery, maderia, ARC, dual duty, button, Superior thread, americana, glitter, metallic, twist, Gutermann, verigated, Essentials from connecting threads, coats and clark, Signature and even a few spools of main stays from wal-mart eewww!

  50. Sharon Stone says:

I don’t have an extensive collection of thread. I’ve been experimenting with some of the piecing thread like So Fine and MasterPiece. I have all purpose Coats and Clark. I have a container of Guterman. When I want something special, I usually turn to my container of Sulky. I have a lot of Sulky Rayon for when I machine embroider (which isn’t a whole lot). I quilt with the Sulky metallics quite a bit. I love the SLIVER for quilting, especially holiday quilts. I’d like to work with more of the machine quilting threads in the future.

  51. Stevie says:

My thread stash? My DH’s uncle cleaned out an Ame’s store and sent me all the colors that were “left,” if you get my drift. I also have two Matchbook Car cases of Sulky bought when I first started to embroider with my machine. Finally, an interior decorating store went out of business and I bought all their maxithreads for my serger – two drawers full. A totally undefined mix and hodgpodge. Lots of colors – just NEVER the right ones.

  52. Billie K says:

Mostly a draw of 50 weight cottons and some YLI for applique.

  53. Linda(Petey) says:

It takes a lot of thread for different purposes…machine embroidery, quilting, hand quilting, hand embroidery, garments, serger, knitting (yarn it kinda thread), etc. So you see, I have lots of thread, just never the right colot!!

  54. Linda(Petey) says:

It takes a lot of thread for different purposes…machine embroidery, quilting, hand quilting, hand embroidery, garments, serger, knitting (yarn it kinda thread), etc. So you see, I have lots of thread, just never the right color!!

  55. Lyn says:

I don’t have much machine sewing thread…tried some very linty Essentials thread from ConnectingThreads that I did not like at all, have some small spools of Gutermann, and one Aurifil that I love but consider too pricey. I use YLI silk for hand applique. My embroidery I do by hand, and have mainly cottons, hand-dyed and basic DMC.

  56. I just ordered a lot of thread and it came just as I used the last cone up. So several large cones for the domestic, several for quilting, several for hand work, and I have a large box of OLD thread from Gr.gran &Grand that I use simply for basting. I have cotton, poly-cotton, silk, and I see people are listing pearl cottons (fancy stitching and tying) and lots of floss – mostly DMC (8 cases) and some special hand dyed.

  57. Sunnybec says:

Oh no! Please dont say I have to have a stash of thread too!!! I am a newbie to quilting and working hard to get my fabric stash. I have some cotton thread I bought here (in France) and now 2 Aurifil, going to buy some more Aurifil this week. Like fabric, thread is difficult to find in France so I have to source via the internet.

  58. I love my threadstash! The normal sewing thread stash is … well, ok, but my embroidery thread stash is well organised, as I bought a couple of metallic desks with drawers from IKEA. I have marked every drawer with the color I keep inside, so I don’t have to search, just open up the color drawer I need! I recommend it to anyone, because keeping these valuable threads in daylight, or worse sunlight, destroys them!

  59. Lixa says:

i have a rather small collection of threads, about 2 dozens.

  60. colleen says:

I have never used Sulky thread – I always use Gueterrman

  61. Claire says:

I DEF need more threads (to keep up with my overwhelming stash!!)

  62. Lee says:

I use “Aurifil” thread for piecing, with “Bottom Line” in the bobbin. I love “Sulky” rayon for free motion, & have most colors, including varigated. Would be happy to try “Aurifil” for free motion…………………….

  63. Paula says:

I usually buy thread when I need, so my thread stash is tiny, tiny.
I’ve never embroidered by machine, only by hand and I use DMC threads for that.
    Thanks for the chance!

  64. Colette says:

Until a week ago, embroidery had never entered my mind. So as far as a thread stash goes; nada. I have the standard Gutterman grays for piecing quilt tops. That’s just about it.

  65. Diana says:

I use any and all types of thread in my machine. I always learn something from experimenting with thread that I am not familiar with. Just fun!

  66. Linda Erickson says:

I admit it – I’m a thread junkie!! I have 2 large multi-drawer plastic storage units with my poly & rayon threads divided by color, plus several boxes and a rack of serger threads, plus 3 drawers in a chest with poly/cotton sewing threads. But you can NEVER have too much thread – never know when you’ll need just that color!
    thanks!

  67. Lisa England says:

My favorite thread for machine quilting is King Tut but it’s so expensive that I try to resist buying EVERY color. For piecing I use various brands, and I do have many colors. I also have a small stash of specialty things like rayon and metallic. I would love to try Sulky as it is one I haven’t had. Thanks for the chance to win!

  68. Ale says:

    Hola:

    Saludos,

    Ale.

  69. Paula Reid says:

I have two thread fixtures, just like in stores — one is filled with Sulky rayon on 850 yd. spools and the other is Mettler 100% cotton silk finish thread. I also have a pretty good stash of Superior’s as well as other things that just caught my eye. I am definitely a thread junkie!

  70. Bonnie Alexander says:

I love threads! And everytime I start a new project, I have to go buy a new spool. I probaby have a hundred! But the prettiest ones by far are the Sulky that I bought in a plastic case from Hancock Fabrics. They are my embroidery threads and I love the colors!

  71. Merna says:

I have a very large thread stash taht is taking over my sewing room. I sem to be addicted to thread, never can have enough. Just might need that color. I am being crowded out of my sewing room.

  72. Mary says:

I have a rather large collection of threads. Most I buy but I also buy a lot at auctions and received a lot of old spools when my mother passed away (some from her mother). I love to machine embroider, hand embroider, quilt and just about anything to do with a sewing machine.

  73. Claudia says:

Ok, I’m a thread junky too. How much do I have? I don’t know, but the right color had better be there when I need it. There are big spools, little spools, serger cones, Sulky rayon–divided into solids, varigateds, metallics and other similar threads; and threads on wooden spools. Let’s not talk about the bobbins running amok, leaving their tails behind them.
I pulled out my drawer of Sulky rayons the other day because a friend was over and I gave her my sewing station to work at, and under my Ott Lite, all those spools looked like a big jumbled box of crayons–lusciousness! Yes, I love thread as much as I love fabric. Is #72 lucky?

  74. Gwen says:

I don’t have a huge stash of threads, but I Love Sulky Thread, I have 70 spools of Sulky Rayon Thread, and I love them all, I don’t own and embroidery machine, but someday I hope to. I use my Sulky Rayon Threads for applique, I just love the sheen and the texture they leave on my appliques.
I also have a number of cones of Superior Threads, that I use just for quilting, I also use Superior Masterpiece and Aurifil thread for piecing my quilts, I always used to use Guterman threads for piecing, until I started using Masterpiece and Aurifil, now I only use Guterman in my bobbin when I’m doing applique.
I love all the different colours of thread that are available, and wish I could afford to buy one of every colour!

  75. Renee says:

I don’t have a thread stash, but I have an embroidery machine and I want to learn how to use it. For that I will need thread!

  76. Sandy N. says:

I have a lot of neutral thread for piecing, but not a lot of “specialty” threads. I would love to win some Sulky. Thanks for the opportunity to win!=)

  77. Erin says:

I have a box of 24 colors of polyester thread, but I also have 8 big spools of Sulky cotton rainbow-colored thread. They are the most amazing threads, and make the most lovely quilt patterns. I can’t get enough of them! Sulky has made me keep my other stash in the back of the closet…and I’m sure I’ll need a re-supply of Sulk come June!

  78. Meme says:

I am seriously lacking in threads!! This is difficult to admit, but it’s true. Thanks for this sweet giveaway – I’d love to win!!

  79. Leah Bright says:

My thread stash is a conglomeration of spools that have been given to me. They range from large spools that came from now defunct clothing manufacturers to partial spools from deceased sewers.

  80. Pam Duxbury says:

Having recently taught my daughter to quilt along with teaching the 4 grandkids to sew the thread stash in this house has grown. I also received an embroidery machine for Christmas 2009 and we have been having fun there also. But, no matter how much it seems you always need the one color you don’t have.

  81. Chelsea says:

I’m not much of a thread hoarder. I tend to just buy boring pale beiges that meld with most colours, and only normally have 4 or 5 spools on hand at one time. So sad!

  82. SuzK says:

I’ve been really bad about thread. I have Gutterman and Mettler and never really pay attention to the type (cotton, poly, etc.) often to my dismay. I’ve recently started using Aurifil for sewing, which I do like better. Someone suggested using Sulky for applique, which I’m just starting to do, so I have a spool for a coming-up project. I’m a hand-piecer, so finding a good thread is something I have known I wanted to do, but haven’t found sources for. I do most of my work with gray thread.

  83. Krist Van Os says:

I have a lot of thread. 3 thread box holders of embroidery thread mostly Robison-Anton. Longarm thread, mainly Perma Core, some sinature King Tut and Bottom Line, coats and clark, YLI, a few Guterman, and quite the supply superior Serger Thread. Yikes, I think I’m a Thread Ho too!

  84. Barb J says:

I use different threads for different reasons. I use Aurifil for piecing and mostly Coats & Clark for quilting and garment sewing. I have about 6 large spools of Aurifil, but only the off-white one is in use at the moment. The rest were bought because the LQS was having a sale that I couldn’t pass up. I usually wait to buy thread to match the project I’m working on, so I end up accumulating lots of half empty spools. I don’t have an embroidery machine, but my Janome has some nice designs, and I’ve used up some spools of thread making Christmas ornaments and tissue holders, etc. It is sooooo frustrating to run out of thread right before the end of a project!

  85. Carolyn says:

My thread stash is small compared to my fabric stash. I have hand piecing thread and machine piecing thread as well. However, my favorite collectible thread right now is Sulky Blendables. Also, from my old cross-stitch days, I have tons of hand embroidery floss.

  86. Martha says:

Quite by accident, when I first go my Elna Embroidery Machine, I was told to use Sulky Thread. Since then,I have found that all Sulky Thread is the prefect thread for any embroidery that I do. I have tried other brands, but always come back to Sulky. The colors are so varied I always find just the perfect one for my projects.

  87. LeAnne says:

My first threads that I bought were Sulky because I thought that’s all that was out there. I have my basic supply of embroidery threads now, so when I need more I’m usually trying to match colors and so my stash is a hodge-podge of manufacturers. I have over 300 spools of embroidery thread plus my regular sewing and applique thread.

  88. Yvonne says:

I have 4 small (12″x16″) drawers full of thread, including about 15 brand new variegated King Tut cotton threads. Almost all of my threads are cotton only…I have not expanded to polyester threads yet, but they bring a different look and I’m looking forward to using them in the future. Most of my thread has been purchased from Connecting threads, but I also have Valdani variegates along with Star and Gutterman threads. I love to use variegates for my machine quilting (home machine only). I do very little machine or hand embroidery – I’m doing more thread painting and free motion quilting as I improve my skills.

  89. Glenna Denman says:

I have a lot of threads but rarely just what I need to quilt the current project, so it would be great to get a collection! I love Sulky and Aurifil is great for piecing and threadplay, but I love to try other kinds of threads, too,

  90. Jan Johnson says:

As a new quilt embroiderer (just bought a bablylock ellure plus) I’m still learning and experimenting so really don’t have an embroidery thread stash as yet. Building my stash as I go, but it’s all Silky. Really like their selection of colors and specialty threads.

  91. Wendy Scott says:

I have a LARGE assortment of threads. Cotton, poly, Rayon. I think I have over 200 spools of thread. I love the various colors. Sulky has wonderful varigated threads and I try to buy them all. I do machine embroidery and quilting.

  92. bonnie says:

Learned a new tip just reading the comments, drinking straw on thread rack so I can add more thread… YES I am off for straws.. I have my embroidery threads, special threads, quilting threads, surging threads and sewing threads in my sewing room and in the cabinet beside my stitching chair is my Cross stitch threads, so there is lots of threads in this house… plus when my Mom passed I inherited her threads for quilting, sewing, surging and embroidery, but I was nice and shared with my girls with those threads…

I have way too much, in fact, I still have wooden spools from my MOM and she’s been gone 40 years! Hmmm, I wonder if thread goes dry?? I have an embroidery sewing machine so have every color there, and two big containers of spools for my serger, and poly cotton in most shades of color and of course, for satan stiich, I still have to go to the store because I need a different color.

My thread stash is small.. I have a variety of brands from cheap to a few Sulky and Guterman. Since i am a beginner quilter i have been learning the difference the thread makes in a quilt or quilt item. I wish i could win some thread. I have baby blankets to make and a lot of UFOs to get fimnished by Christmas.. I didnt know that there was a difference in thread till i start reading and learning more.. but i cannot afford all those fancy good thread even though i wish i could. I try to buy them when they are on sale or clearance..My collection isnt that big.. I do have two variegated threads and some embroidery thread for an older embroidery machine.. Using that machine has taught me alot about threads too.. I hope that they will pick me for i wish to get some better thread that will hold up with the quilts and future quilting that do..thank you .

  95. Gail says:

My thread stash is growing as I develop skills in free motion quilting and embroidery. The stash isn’t yet large, but it is varied in types – piecing threads, applique threads, hand quilting threads, machine quilting threads and embroidery threads. Some of the thread is old enough to be on wooded spools and some brand new.

  96. Cathy Buel says:

I was never a collector of threads till I took a class with Libby Lehman. After that I started buying more and more. I have Sulky, Gutterman, metallics, varigated, all the colors of the rainbow. I use them for piecing, quilting (both hand and machine) and applique. I bought 4 toy car carriers that have 48 slots for toy cars. They are full with my thread. I have some slots free so I would love to win some thread to fill them. Hugs

  97. Becky Pirocchi says:

I’ve always been a hand-quilter, but I am discovering the joys of machine quilting because it enables me to complete projects in a timely way! Most of my current thread stash is handquilting thread, by Guttermann, but I just purchased Premium Sulky Invisible thread to begin working harder on machine quilting skills.

  98. Vicky Morrow says:

My thread stash is a bit like King Kong – too big to fit into the available space! I have 4 thread racks hanging on the wall, and each rack holds 50 spools of thread. That’s where my Mettler, Guterman, and a few spools of Superior thread are kept. I have a shoe holder (the kind with the mesh pockets) on the back of the door with larger cones, and the entire bottom drawer of a dresser is full of variegated and metallic threads. If it was ever corralled into one place at the same time, I think it would definitely rule like a king on a throne!

  99. kathy h says:

I use sulky for my machine embroidery and aurifil for my hand applique.

  100. Bonnie Sauer says:

I’m a BIG fan of Sulky … I machine embroider as well as quilt and Sulky is what I use for both. I love their color ranges and the sheen of their thread. I also find it very easy to work with … seldom breaks and holds up well in my quilts too. I use solids and variegateds, clear, smoke, irridescents, etc. I also have a stash of hand embroidery DMC threads, as well as several “twists” of threads for couching. Afterall, your fabric stash needs a thread stash to match, right ? !

  101. Carolyn says:

Thread, you can never have too much, just like fabric. First I started out with multipurpose for sewing, then added cottons for quilting, varigated for free motion machine quilting (plus all my hand quilting threads in every color). Then I got into machine embroidery and it’s like painting, you need lots of shades of every color to achieve the look you want…this thread is right on top where everyone sees your art and needs to be the right color. I can always use more, and more space to store it too! I’ve got about 7 drawers of thread!

  102. Donna Lee says:

I have a box of 100 Mettler cotton embroidery threads (of course the best colours are gone) purchased with my sewing machine in the mid ’70′s. Numerous Gutterman neutrals for general sewing which are a tangled mess in the drawer, several Gutterman cottons for embroidery (primarily in gold for Christmas projects) and about a dozen spools of serger thread. I am just a beginner quilter, do not have an embroidery machine but I do have a fantastic collection of DMC threads for hand embroidery. I am starting a new quilting project and would love to win the thread stash. Thanks for the chance.

  103. Georgia Schropfer says:

I have a few Sulky threads from a workshop I attended. Love their bright colors, but am still learning how to use them effectively. Most of my sewing thread is from Connecting Threads or Joanns.

  104. sandy rader says:

My thread stash is small and organized. I want wild and happy and beautiful to paint on all my quilts!

  105. Debra Laws says:

I have a wild riot of all types of threads. There are three wooden thread stands full; one with quilting threads, one with embroidery threads, one with misc., leftovers and old stuff. The old stuff is so old that it is still on wood spools. To the lady that puts straws on the spool holders, thank you, that is the best tip ever. I am going to use that idea to keep my bobbins with the coordinating thread. Thanks.

  106. Sandi says:

My thread stash is “starving”. I have been slowly trying to build it up and I DO like Sulky! I normally buy just enough for a project. But I am trying to accumulate FUN threads to try out!

  107. Carolyn Moon says:

I have about 9 sppols left plus one each white and black. Am unemployed so could really use a win here.

  108. Kathi Miller says:

Years ago when I did lots of counted cross-stitch, I had all the DMC colors. Now that I’ve ventured into the world of machine embroidery, I have all the Isacord colors. Also have a few Jenny Haskins, Aurifil and Sulky threads. For piecing I prefer Aurifil or Guitermann. I’m an “on-sale” shopper. When thread is on sale, I buy multiple spools. I don’t believe in running to the store for one spool of thread; that interfers with my sewing time!

  109. Cathy says:

I have mostly hand quilting thread, but I do like the Sulky color choices for binding the quilts. Makes it easy finish with the correct colors!

  110. Pat Kemble says:

I have oodles and oodles of thread, most of it is Sulky and Robison Anton (or however you spell it). I add to it almost every week and yes I do a LOT of embroidery by machine. I never seem to have the exact color I need so off I go and buy 10 additional ones just because they are pretty. I love sewing especially embroidery by machine. I have three embroidery machines and a lot of days they are all running at once.

  111. Sandy says:

I just started using Sulky thread, what a wonderful find. I just recently returned to quilting; I learned many years ago from my grandmother but stopped when I was raising my family. Now I have time and the desire to create beautiful things for my grandchildren. I don’t have a large stash; several spools and some old Clark and generic thread–uck that don’t even compare after using the Sulky!!!

  112. Rhonda says:

I machine embroidery, and many different threads. Sulky is the number one thread in my stash. I also have Robinson -Anton.
A few Maderia and Coats and Clark. I have some Prescensa but have not tried them yet. I use a lot of Gutterman for machine sewing and quilting.

  113. Sharon Willard says:

After reading some of the comments, I hardly have any thread.

  114. Dee says:

I like threads of all kinds. I have oodles of spools. I machine quilt and machine applique so more colors the better. I also have an embroidery machine but not so into that. I like silk for hand applique…

  115. norma says:

I have a variety of threads. Sine I just purchased the new Berninia 830LE I hope to have more embroidery thread in my future.

  116. Sonja says:

I have nice large assortment of threads: machine embroidery which I do lots of with Aurafil, Robison and Madeira polys & rayon, cottons (Connecting Threads) for machine quilting, YLI silks for hand applique, specialty threads from Madeira and Sulky …last but not least I think have every color MaxiLock serger thread made! However I’m positive there are many new Sulky threads that I’ve not even heard of and would love to add to my stash! Thanks for the opportunity to participate…..Sonja

  117. Melanie Snow says:

I have two sewing machines, one serger and two embroidery machines. I make hats for cancer patients at two hospital, quilts, lap quilts and pillows for the VA Hospital. Ialso sew badge covers and black flags for the FOP which is used when an officer is killed in the line of duty. With all that sewing I have over 100 spools of Coats and Clark, 200 spools of Sulky and Maderia embroidery threads and over 50 spools of thread for my serger. I’m always watching for a thread sale.

  118. Cathy says:

I have maybe a dozen or so spools of sulky thread. I have a big stash of old thread that has been offered for sale at our guild flea markets. I do lots of needleturn applique and do use the older thread for matching some of the colors that I do not have in sulky. I would like to be one of the radom entries.

  119. Therese says:

I have the basics: white, black, gray, cream, navy, and red. Also, a couple variegated – pink, black, and tan. Mostly they are cotton. I could really use some color and variety in composition!

  120. Most of my thread is so very old that I hesitate to do much sewing with it…actually, I’ve allowed my 4 yr old grandson to play with alot of it. I tend to keep only the basic colors for piecing, but do purchase colors to sew binding on and would like to have more of a variety. Thanks for opportunity to enter your random drawing.

  121. Shady says:

I’m working on trying to expand my thread stash a bit – seems I gravitate towards blues and darker colored threads for some reason, and never have the right shades of thread (especially the lighter colors) on hand when I need them!! I mainly focused on building up my fabric stash over the past few years – and neglected to build up my thread stash to match it! LOL

  122. Sharon Lichter says:

I have a large stash of threads, some I use all the time and some I don’t know why I have them. I am not a machine embroider. I like to free motion quilt on my sewing machine.

  123. Cecilia Young says:

I do machine embroider and I’ve started a small stash of thread. My DH gave me a starter set of threads in colors that are used for the few designs I own. I also have some cotton threads for quilting and piecing. I would love to win the Sulky thread, I haven’t tried it yet. Thanks for the giveaway.

  124. Charlotte says:

My thread stash is a bit old and I’ve been trying to use it up. I have rayon embroidery threads as well as most colors of everyday thread.

  125. Debra Reber says:

First of all, thanks for the chance to win thread!! My stash– I have about 6 tubs (about 12 x 6 inches) of different kinds of thread. I started sewing as a teen, so one tub is lots of different colors of regular sewing thread (but when I start a new project, I never seem to have just the right color, so have to buy more!!). Then I got into quilting, so another tub is various threads for quilting. Then I had to have a new machine, & when I went shopping they had these really neat machines that did embroidery, which looked like a lot of fun!! Little did I realize that doing machine embroidery required lots of different colors of thread!! And not just lots of colors, but different types of thread!! So another tub is rayon thread, another is polyester thread, and another smaller tub has prewound bobbins!

  126. Chris says:

It all started with machine embroidery. First is was rayon, then poly, well why not add in some lovely cottons, ya know for a little less shine, more subdued. Then when I started quilting, I needed piecing threads, oh and then I got my HQ16 and bought a gazillion cottons, and polys, Lava’s, Blendables, Rainbows, how was I supposed to resist them. Each more beautiful then the last. Help me!!!

  127. Evelyn says:

I hate to admit how many spools of thread I have. I am afraid to count them. When I want more my husband asks me why. Well of course, I need a different shade.
I would love for my name to be drawn because most of my thread is old and I could use some new ones.

  128. laura says:

My thread stash grows slowly with each sale for color, texture, and sheen variety.

  129. Holly Zessin says:

I have a thread stash..both inherited from my mother and my own investment. I have an embroidery machine and like natural colors and shading in my projects so lots of colors and I love what goes on withvarigated my mother used it in the 60′s with free motion satin stitch. I watch the local chain stores for discount days on the good thread I seem to gather it in large quantities and never have to much.

  130. Gail V says:

I have a small collection of thread…mostly Guetterman, some Sulky. I do machine embroidery and get thread to match project, no extras. When I get my sewing projects finished, I hope to start quilting. I have a fabric stash of quilting material, no thread. So winning this Sulky collection would be wonderful, as all thread is pretty pricey.

  131. Patricia R Campion says:

I started my “serious” thread stashing with every color of Gutterman silk for needle-turn applique. Lately, I have begun venturing into YLI and Aurifil territory. I also loiter longingly at the Sulky embroidery and metallic thread displays because, like having the giant box of Crayons, I want every color and shade under the sun!
Thank you for the chance at the drawing!

  132. Bonnie B says:

I am addicted to Sulky thread. I got my first embroidery machine about six years ago. Up till then I had a modest thread stash, cottons/all purpose, basic colors. Then machine embroidery came into my life and my addiction to fabric spread into all those glorious, beautiful, delicious embroidery threads. I make no excuses, my husband has told me that when I am faced with a rack of Sulky thread, my eyes kind of glaze over and actually sparkle and that I look like a five year old on Christmas morning. My stash can always use a boost because you can never have too much thread, fabric or chocolate.

  133. Jackie R. says:

Ooo, I have a difficult time throwing away “end of spool” thread bits…ya know, too little to use for the sewing machine, or not the correct color shade for any other project. I’m trying to get better ;) I have a medium size wicker basket somewhat filled with thread spools, little bitsy thread amount on spools. Guess I’m doing the ‘waiting for that rainy day when I’ll need that little bit of color somewhere day’ =D

  134. Chris S says:

My thread stash is fairly extensive, having inherited spools from 3 relatives and a friend. I sew, quilt and do alterations for friends and family, so I continue to buy as needed. Any additional thread is always welcome!

  135. Kim ODonnell says:

Actually I didn’t consider mine a stash until I read a few of the replies. I have a fairly good supply of Gutterman, Aurifil, King Tut, and Essentials. I mainly use cotton, but I do have some metallic, poly and silk. I don’t machine embroider, but I do machine appliqué and match the colors to my fabric. As for hand embroidery, I have a healthy supply of DMC, Weeks, Belle Soie, and Gentle Art.

  136. Pat Battison says:

I don’t have a huge stash of thread. I have a variety of piecing thread and a few reels of variegated quilting threads so a few new reels would be a welcome addition!

  137. Dorothy Eaton says:

my thread stash isn’t large. mostly neutral colors. have lots of old from many years of sewing. recently purchased a new baby lock and of course can’t use the old stuff now. what to do with it?can’t throw it out.

  138. Patty Swatzell says:

My thread stash is mostly Sulky. When I first started using my embroidery machine my daughter bought me a case of Sulky threads. Since then I have tried several other brands so right now I have a mis-mosh of threads.

  139. Kim A. says:

I have about 100 spools of thread. Most of it is new, but I do have some very old hand-me-down spools – wooden ones! I must admit, thread is probably the last thing I buy that isn’t “brand name”. I KNOW, from reading, that thread is extremely important, but it just seems SO expensive to spend $10 on a spool of thread. I spend a lot of money on high quality fabric, etc., but my poor thread supply is mostly the ones I can find on sale. Mind you, they are gutterman and coats, but I know I can do better! I would love to win some lovely thread, so pick me, pick me!! :)

  140. Debbie Lepper says:

My thread stash is large, just like my fabric stash. HOWEVER, I would love to add to it!! Almost all of my embroidery threads are Sulky with a few random other brands. I love applique and machine embroidery, especially those projects that have shadowing.

  141. Martina says:

My stash is very small. I actually only have 3 diffrent beige, a white, a blue and a dark red thread for handquilting. Which I use and buy again. And till now I have never done embroidery by machine. Would be time to try out…!
Thanks so much for the give away!

  142. I can only afford to buy what I need…not much stashing of thread and I tend to settle for Coats & Clark. Fabric Postcard satin stitch edges uses up quite a bit.

I saw the other day people are saving empty spools for a year to see how much they go through. I confess I toss empty spools almost as fast as fabric selvage edges. I will not be stashing either any time soon :)

  143. CJ says:

I do machine embroidery, art quilting (just starting out), and quilting. Since I make a lot of bags for gifts for my friends and relatives, I never seem to have just the right colors of embroidery thread. I use Madeira, Sulky, King Tut for piecing, and everyone’s variegated threads. I do free hand embroidery with the variegated threads for pillow cases for my nieces and nephews. They love having their name on everything.
Mettler silk thread for some projects is really nice. Now if I only had every color, I’d be really happy. My husband made me a long spindle tray to slide my threads onto, but there is never enough storage.

  144. Jean Cardinal says:

I learned to sew 55 years ago and have sewn off and on ever since. I make quilts now, rarely clothes any more. I do machine embroidery and serging. I have a map chest to keep my thread in (well, most of it). The 13 drawers are each just the right depth to hold large spools of thread. I cut strips of art board to keep the thread organized in the drawers. All the drawers are full of regular sewing thread, embroidery thead, and some serger thread. I have 2 Madeira Thread chests on top of the map chest, one for rayon and one for polyester emb thread. There are also 2 plasltic shoe boxes of regular sewing thread on top of the Madeira chests. I have a drawer full of serger thread in another chest and several trays of thread for the projects that I am currently working on. My filled bobbins are kept in 4 small cases in a drawer in my sewing table.
My hand emb thread is kept in a cardboard box and is separated by color in small plastic zip bags. I use this thread to tie snuggle quilts and quilts for charity.
I am just as addicted to thread as I am to fabric and embroidery designs. I love them all.

  145. Jeanne says:

I have over 100 spools of thread of just about every color. Having sewed for years clothes and quilts the last 6 yrs I do have a variety of thread. I have only 1 spool of Sulky though and would love some more. Thanks for a chance at winning some great thread!!

  146. Gail S says:

I have many many threads most for machine embroidery which I started 2 years ago.I also have a few for piecing quilts and some for sewing clothing…so I guess I have quite a few..I would love to have some Sulky as well…thanks

  147. Ida Hansen says:

THREADS!!! Is there such a thing as too many? My excuse is that I live 30 miles from a thread store – so I need a big supply. My Granddaughter says that every time she opens a drawer there is more thread. I do not have an embroidery attachment to my machine. I enjoy free motion quilting and thread painting. Use lots of Sulky threads – rayon, sliver, metallic in a large assortment of colors. Also have lots of cottons – Mettler, A & E, and Essential. My excuse for stashing thread is that I live 30 miles from a good scource of thread.

  148. Karen says:

I’m just starting out ; have a new BabyLock . I buy 1 spool at a time trying to build up a stash. I would like a thread stash that matches my fabric stash.

  149. Karen says:

Just starting out. Only have 5 or 6 spools of embroidery thread. I try to buy a spool each time I go to Scarlet Threads , my favorite quilting and sewing store.

  150. Lynn D in NC says:

I haven’t counted, but I would imagine over 300 spools. I have quite of bit of silk, but mostly cotton. Oh, I do have some fancy threads that I picked up at a distributor closing. Had great intentions of experimenting with them, but haven’t touched them yet. Guess they are not a great deal, unless I use them, right? Well, you’ve motivated me to get them out and get busy.

  151. My thread stash is really quite small. It seems that I’m always having to buy new thread because I don’t have the color I need.

  152. Sallie says:

I only have the RA thread kit that was included when I bought my embroidery machine. I use Guterman thread for piecing. I would love to win! Thanks for the chance!

  153. Cindy B says:

My thread stash is getting pretty low right now. I haven’t bought any since the last fabric store here closed it’s door last summer. I guess it’s online shopping for me from now on. I love all colors and think displaying full thread spools is so artsy.

  154. Yvonne K says:

I have a thread stash just like my fabric stash. Every color-every brand- every size. There is never enough or too much. I keep it clean in containers and dust free and cherish every inch.

  155. Jen says:

I’m working on both my stashes! My mom found a whole bunch of threads in her storage and gave me a ton of colors. I wouldn’t use these for quilting, but they are great for applique!

  156. MarciaW says:

Our thread “stash” is workable though nothing exotic like Sulky. We do not throw things away and even have some thread still marked as 15cents from TG&Y, which closed decades ago. It’s fine for basting quilt sandwiches. We usually buy C&C as needed because that is what Wal-Mart carries and have some thread in colors from Connecting Threads. We would love to have thread for machine quilting, embroidery and applique because bought a new sewing machine that has these capabilities – once the dealer offers the promised classes so we can learn. My mother thinks we are thread poor because we do not have much of an assortment. May seems so far in the future!

  157. Jenna Z says:

I just organized my stash of spools on one of those hanging racks and I’m sad to say, it’s pretty pathetic. I have more spools of monofilament than I know what to do with! And not nearly enough wonderful cotton quilting thread!

  158. Sandy A says:

My thread stash is very minimal. I have a small storage container, about the size of a shoe box that has all my thread in it. Sure could use some more! :)

  159. I am using up my Mother’s stash of thread. She had purchased some cones at a yard sale. I could really use some thread that doesn’t break as often as this thread of her does.

  160. Susan Dowdall says:

My quilting thread stash is poor. Have 3 cone for piecing and about 20 Gutterman mics. colors and 30 Isacord Embroiderly threads. It seams I never have the right color – time to shop.

  161. Connie K says:

My thread stash is like candy! A wonderful assortment of colors . I esp. love Sulky threads- the blendables and the new polylight threads.

  162. Maria Hobbs says:

I have loads of thread which you expect in that I own an embroidery business. I have my own quilting frame so, I also invest in a variety of fun quilting threads. Lately, I have been giving more attention to embellishments and have expanded my stash with metallics ….. never a dull moment when shopping for threads or fabric. I just need to experiment more with the threads I have… never enough time!!!

  163. Garlynda says:

My thread stash is very small compared to my material stash, love threads and materials, do alot of quilting and embroidery best therapy in the world.

  164. Diane Simmons says:

I have all kinds of thread, love it. Mostly in plastic “tool’ boxes that my husband bought for screws (they were just sitting empty:) and my big Madera spools in a matchbox car box. I have my Sulky in a hand embrodery thread box. When I bought my 1st Janome embrodery machine I got there thread in marked cardboard boxes but couldn’t keep track so transfered them to the clear boxes. Just wish there was more time and items to embrodery. I love the Varigated cotton to meander quilt on my longarm. No matter what color it always matches. I love going to expos so I can get more :) I just love thread!

  165. Carol says:

As a beginner, my thread stash is very limited and needs to be expanded! I do have some blendables and LOVE ‘EM!

  166. Valeria Wolff says:

Wow, do I have thread(s)! Years ago, a newbie, I bought “newbie” thread , the reliable 50/3 for everything, as there was not much choice. As my tastes and techniques progressed, thread followed: now I own 50/2 weight for piecing and quilting, 60 weight, 40 weight, varigated, for appliqué, and because I have learned to couch by machine, maybe wool thread will be in my collection.

  167. Carole M. says:

My thread stash is stored in an antique solid oak 10 drawer chest which measures 53 x 20.5 x 16.5. Seven of the drawers hold my machine embroidery thread, the other drawers hold quilting, serger, and all purpose thread. When I got my first embroidery machine my husband surprised me with an assortment of 300 embroidery threads.

  168. mary fredrichs says:

I have been quilting for a long time, but my thread stash is pitifully pathetic. My new sewing machine seems to like Aurifil. I haven’t tried Sulky, as our quilt shop doesn’t carry it.

  169. Ruth Anglin says:

I don’t machine embroider but I do have a longarm. Seems the last year I’ve focused more on thread than fabric. (Say it isn’t so???!!). I’ve gone absolutely balistic! Waiting for the husband to build me a custom thread wall. I’ve ordered a lot of Superior Threads, I have my special “sulky” only box and just ordered 4 spools of the Sulky Polylite (I enjoy hand applique). Looking forward to trying this new line on my longarm as well.

  170. Pat says:

Just getting back into quilting again since retiring a few months ago. My stash, though I doubt anyone would call it that, consists of basic colors of general purpose thread used for piecing, a few spools of a neutral handquilting thread, two spools of machine quilting thread, and some very old thread on wooden spools. Some gorgeous machine embroidery thread would be just the incentive to get my old Singer 401 and Rocketeer machines oiled up for a spin!

  171. Patti Legge says:

I just got an embroidery machine a few months ago and have virtually no thread stash. I have been looking at the thread collections but can’t afford them. I hope they have a booth and demonstration at Quilt Hawaii so I can see their full line of products.

  172. Ann says:

I’m rather new at machine embroidery and I’m just trying to figure out stablizers – I need to work on thread and winning sure would be a blessing to help me on my way.

  173. Sue Dunlap says:

I have a lot of thread, mostly Sulky and Robison Anton rayon for embroidery, and Robison Anton poly for my mid-arm quilting along with A&E poly core. I recently purchased two sets of Essential cotton thread from Connecting Threads for piecing quilts. But, like fabric, you can never have too much!

  174. Mary says:

My thread stash is a mixed bag. Embroidery, quilting and sewing threads, but I am always shopping for more, as I find them as pretty and desirable to collect as my quilt fabric stash!

  175. cindy ravellette says:

I’m new to quilting so my stash is very limited, so far 100% cotton, and love looking every store and web site. would love to try silky but don’t know where to buy.

  176. Dee W says:

My thread stash took a dunk when our house was flooded. So I’ve acquired my mother in law’s stash, but I’m still trying to fill in colors and types. I also am an embroiderer so I have some pretty exotic threads that I use.

  177. Karen604 says:

I have a newly greatly reduced thread stash. My Sewing Machine repairman finally convinced me to get rid of all of my bargain threads and stick with Gutterman and Sulky threads. I have a number of Sulky threads, mostly they match Boy Scout Patches. They are great for matching and sewing on patches by machine.

  178. SHIRLEY says:

I have Coats & Clarks thread and some discount thread along with variegated threads which I found online. I would love to try the Sulky threads.

  179. Patty Ojeda says:

I have Coats & Clark for quilting. I really want to try Aurifil for quilting, because I really get allot of lint build up on my sewing machine. I also have many Sulky threads that I use with my embroidery machine. Love, love, love it!

  180. Connie Douty says:

I use King Tut, Madiera, Sulky, Aurafil and have a rainbow of colors. With each new project I just HAVE to buy a new color so I do have a stash. My most treasured threads are the cotton coats and clark wooden spools my mother gave to me so long ago. They are no longer suitable for using but each time I buy a spool of thread I think fondly of her so no spool is too expensive.
She taught me to use the best thread I could buy.

  181. Victoria says:

I never leave the fabric shop without a few spools. I get fixted on certain colors and I always have lots of coordinating thread. Unfortunately, I often have to drop everything to buy more white, black, and brown!

  182. Victoria says:

I never leave the fabric shop without a few spools. I get fixated on certain colors and I always have lots of coordinating thread. Unfortunately, I often have to drop everything to buy more white, black, and brown!

  183. Sue B says:

I have many spools of thread between serger and sewing machine. I have been trying to use up some of the close to the end spool to make more room for new spools. Some days that works better than others. I like to have thread that matches my project.

  184. Darlene Jacolik says:

My thread stash is larger then my fabric stash. I am fascinated by all of the options. I love machine embroidery and have been building my collection of Sulky Rayon. I have 4 of the slimline cases almost full. Also have many poly and cotton embroidery threads. I have just started to use metallics so have severel of those. Lots of poly thrown in for the Halloween costumes I sew for my grandkids. Just started hand crazy quilting – so now am filling up a tote with pearl cotton. I guess the list goes on and on… Love it all!

  185. Shirley says:

I have this and that. I tend to look for suitable colours and then look what make it is.

  186. delia says:

I usually stay with basic black and white all-purpose thread, but I started using serger thread too. I know, it’s sacrilege!

  187. Denise says:

Hmmm, threads. I have hand embroidery, machine embroidery, serger, ordinary sewing and hand and machine quilting threads!
all sorted into boxes and colours, waiting an opportunity to shine.
I also have a hidden box of “what was I thinking” colours that are so awful, ( or so old, or have been given to me)I can’t look at them, but they make great ‘donations’ to the local Cub Scout Pack when I teach them crafts.

  188. Diana says:

I have a modest amount of piecing thread about 80 spools collected over the years, 110 small spools of Sulky rayon and about 150 spools of Robison-Anton poly embroidery thread. Then there are about 20 spools of Madeira poly embroidery thread. I prefer poly embroidery thread to rayon because rayon can be bleached out when washing, especially on baby items. There are a few (less than 10 cones of serger thread just because I don’t do much serging.)

  189. Ruth says:

I’m just starting with the thread obsession, pretty new to sewing really, but I’ve never been bad at shopping ;) I’ve quickly learnt what a difference the thread choice makes in quilting, and I have accumulated around 35 spools since taking my first quilt class in January, the glitzy threads in the picture are making my mouth water.

  190. Lindsay says:

I like to keep lots of colors of the little skinny thread rolls–I think they store easier!

  191. Pstoner says:

Ok so I just counted, I have 4 spools of thread, having just started quilting with my HQ16, I have been limited in the thread department to only what I have. It consists of 2 spools of Superior So Fine Alabaster, and 1 spool of Isacord, and another spool of So Fine (mauve in color). Ok that’s it I also have three empty Coats and Clarks sewing thread. I could really use some color in my thread collection.

  192. RoxAnneJ says:

My thread stash is 50% rayon and 50% polyester threads. Use the poly for childrens items, and other things that will be washed often. The rayon for quilts, home dec items and just about everything else. Sometimes I even mix the two types just to get the right color.

  193. Jeanne Gwin says:

I don’t have very much thread at this time. When Steve gave me the quilt machine for my birthday 2 years ago, we both wanted to be sure it was something I wanted to do and “would” do. So I have 2 cones of white and 1 cone of black. Am going to Versailles and Stover next week to get batting and plan on picking up some smoke, rainbow and clear thread while there. I’m also entertaining the thought of a long arm vs my short arm. I love my machine and I love hubby for being so generous and thoughtful, but it seems like I spend all my time turning, turning turning. It just takes minutes to do a row and then there I go again with the turning. But it would have to be a pretty darn good deal to get me to trade. Oh, wait, I’m sorry. I always ramble when it comes to anything quilting.

  194. SewCalGal says:

I love my thread stash, but feel I never have enough. I use special threads for handwork, machine piecing, free-motion quilting vs machine embroidery. This alone requires a good stash. Then, considering I like a large variety of colors one really needs a good stash. And, the fact that I keep tossing empty spools (well, I try to recycle them for cat toys at local animal shelters), it is clear I go thru thread a lot. And I do enjoy sewing, quilting and doing machine embroidery work with Sulky too!

Thanks for the opportunity. I’d love to win some Sulky thread.

  195. Margaret C. says:

Well, I am finding that my thread stash is growing like my fabric stash bloomed! I started out with no stash & no intentions of a stash… well, it seems that if you are a quilter “stash happens!” Tis the same with thread. Since I bought my embroidery machine my thread collection (which now exceeds 100 spools) has taken on its own alter-life as well. Over 100 spools, and not the tiny spools either, and counting. Ah well, those spools & the stash bring be countless hours of pleasure. I am also quilty .. oh, uh, guilty of just opening the drawer or closet and admiring my beautiful collection for a while. My machine, by the way, loves the way Sulky runs through it. ;)

  196. Pam Russell says:

I love all the different colors of thread! I would be thrilled to win!!!
My thread stash is PITIFUL! Can you say Wally-World?? :(

  197. Carla G says:

I have a lot of thread in many different colors. I inherited all my grandma’s thread along with the sewing machine and cabinet. And I also got a bin of thread at a local estate sale. I have all brands and most types of thread. My older singer machine doesn’t seem to be picky about what kind of thread I use in it. But now that I’m getting into quilting, I would like to try some really nice quilting thread. It would be awesome to win some Sulky thread. Thanks for a great giveaway! :)

  198. Rene N says:

Thread is another guilty pleasure! I have rayon, poly, glow in the dark, wool, cotton, metallic, invisible, multi-color and variegated. More thread is always bought – how can you turn your back on the perfect addition to a project?

  199. Debbie says:

Oh, yes thread is just another part of my quilting addiction! I have 3 display holders for thread. My favorite is the 75 spool collection of Gutterman cotton thread in one of their own cases. I can’t tellyou how many times I have found just the perfect color for binding. I also have a couple of large ziploc bags of embroidery thread!

  200. Marlys says:

I have quite a bit of thread on hand–but not nearly enough. My husband built me a beautiful thread storage case that holds three rows of the plastic storage containers all labeled and sorted by color families and also containers sorted by numbers. (27 cases in all). I have Mettler and Sulky threads. I buy thread whenever my local fabric stores put thread on sale . I would also like to start getting Maderia threads. There are lots of empty spaces in the cases. Maybe if I live to be a 100 I will get a complete set. I do lots of machine embroidery so I go through lots of thread. I incorporate embroidery with my first love-quilting, but also other ways too. I embroidered 170 table napkins and also 100 dishtowls for the women guests for my Mother’s 90th birthday party for example. And right now I’m making curtains for my new sewing room my husband is designing for me (he’s making the furniture). The curtains will have 84 different designs (country look). So I need lots of thread.

  201. Sandi P. says:

I don’t have a lot of thread. I mostly buy for a project then have some leftover odds and ends. I know most of my thread is the discount store variety, not the nice name brand stuff. Living in small towns all my life make that a necessity. When you need thread now, there isn’t much choice.

  202. Heather Porritt says:

I do not have a lot of thread compared to fabric…. I have a fair amount of Gutterman thread with a few King tut thrown in the mix. I have a few wooden spools on the shelf for sentimental reasons But the thread never gets used….

  203. Renee Steele says:

Even though I am a small time quilter, I have been sewin for over 40 years. I have my grandma’s thread (I don’t use it though, as it has gotten weak over the many years). I have majority of cotton threads, then polyster, and then wool threads. I have some machine embroidery thread, but I have just started this hobby, and would love to get some more. Thanks for the contest!!

  204. Patty says:

I am slowly building my thread stash. So far I have the basics, black, navy, white, etc. But now I am trying to buy thread when I buy fabric for a specific project.

  205. rebecca says:

My thread stash is almost bare. I was on a mission to use up some of my fabric stash and now have depleted most of my thread. I really need to get more. I haven’t done much in the way of downsizing the fabric though!

  206. VickyB says:

My thread stash is a mixture. I have just started collecting Sulky Thread. I donot machine embroider but would like to expand into thread painting. This give away is exciting and I would love to be the recipient. Thanks for the chance.

  207. Margaret says:

Since I do alot of alterations I have built up my thread supply and have them grouped by colors. I do get a little messy with my fabric by mixing colors but I’m very particular about where the thread goes. And then of course I have sewing, serger, machine and hand quilting thread.

  208. Anya says:

My thread stash is mostly made up of thread for machine quilting and some for machine embroidery. Not nearly as large as my fabric stash. Thanks for the chance!

  209. My thread stash is so old that a fair amount of it is on WOODEN spools….Really ancient….and I’m in the process of learning that I have to throw it away–just the thread, not the spools—and replace it as I can…I generally try to wait for JoAnn’s sales or coupons and stock up then with what I need for the current project…
Thanks for the chance to win some help with this….
    Blessings,
    Alice

  210. I have a relatively small thread stash (about 40 spools). The are mostly Coats & Clark, a couple Guetterman, some Dritz clear and and some Sulky of course. I would of course love more Sulky!!!

  211. Teresa D. says:

Great giveaway! My threads are a light and dark of basics and pastels and several whites, creams and naturals and a black. Would love to win some Sulky Threads to upgrade my stash.

  212. I go round junk shops and fleamarkets buying up old wooden reels of cotton threads like Sylko and Dewhurst … they go for pennies and they’re still fantastic … I can’t find Sulky easily here in the UK, so I’d love to try it!! Thanks for the chance :)

  213. Colleen says:

I have hundreds of spools! No kidding! 60 spools of Coats&Clark, Piece Goods, Gutterman, and other miscellaneous. Then I have a drawer in my DMC cabinet filled with a double layers of spools, around 150. Oh I also have a collection of aobut 40 or so wooden spools I collect. I would love to add some Sulky to my collection.

  214. Jane Stallard says:

I have been sewing for over 50 years and machine embroidering since 1998; therefore, I have around 300 spools of embroidery threads. They include Sulky, Robison Anton, and Madeira. I also have around 50 spools of mostly cotton thread for sewing. I have some thread that is probably 40 years old but I don’t use it because it has become weak. However, it seems I am always adding to my thread stash with each new project because I don’t have the right color or I am running out the colors I need to complete the project. So I can always use new threads.

I have a so-called “database” setup on my computer so I can locate my embroidery threads by their brands and numbers in boxes I store them in. Which, if I live long enough I may get this so called “database” redone to be better. I find it is lacking a few things but it is better then no filing system.

I keep all my threads inside drawers and cabinets out the sunlight and in boxes so they don’t get dusty. This way they are in good condition when I need them for a project.

  215. Martha says:

I have 3 mettler and a few coats and clark. I just bought a new sewing machine so it would be the greatest if I won.

  216. Stephanie says:

I have a few spools of gutermann, and I buy colors to match projects as I need them. I have a couple of variegated sulky threads too, and I accumulate more as my budget allows!

  217. Gale says:

I am a thread addict. I love it as much as fabric, which is a serious love affair. I have pretty much everything Superior Threads makes and love it all. Love Aurifil and have about 100 colors. Also love Gutermann and Maderia. They’re the ones I started out with. I’ve never tried Sulky. Keep meaning to add this dimension to my quilting and thread painting but have hesitated.

I keep my threads more organized than my fabric. I keep most of it in hot wheels cars boxes and the rest in larger totes. I find it gets dusty on thread racks and I can’t stand that.

  218. Judy says:

Just like fabric – you can never have enough thread! I’m starting my stash with embroidery thread (I love Sulky) and have a nice variety, but never seem to have the “right” color when I need it… I have just started to do crazy quilting and have fallen in love with the beautiful variety of threads that are used. I guess I am becoming a “thread-o-holic” now.

  219. Joan Amundsen says:

I had never considered myself a ‘stasher’ of thread but after reading these past posts, I guess I am. The stashing started a few years ago when I went to a local yard sale and there was literally a large sheet spread out on the grass filled with spools of thread. I bought only the ones that were new or unused. I have given spools away to several family members and kept many for myself. But like they say “You can never be too rich, too thin, or have too many spools of thread”.

  220. I don’t really have a thread stash. I just started quilting in September of last year. It’s been a gradual process building a stash of fabric let alone thread.

  221. Madeline Wallace says:

I have not one, but 2 complete collections of DMC embroidery thread, at least 35 spools of Essentials from Connecting Threads, and oodles of others from my cross-stitch days. Never have enough hand quilting thread, tho…..

  222. Joanna says:

I have lots of thread that’s somewhat organized and right next to my sewing machine so I can get it when it’s needed. I don’t have any decorative thread other than the multi color for quilting that I like very much. I do find that using the better threads makes sewing anything that much easier.

  223. Pam says:

I have 10 clear thread storage containers that I bought from a website. I also bought the color card for Robison-Anton embroidery threads. I put my thread in the containers according to how they were listed in the book. I marked each spool of thread and labled each box from say-A1 to C25. The next one would be C26 to E18 and so on. This way I always know where my thread belongs and it definitely helps keep my sewing area neater! Plus it looks beautiful with the rainbow of color on my shelves.

  224. Deborah in Atlanta says:

I’m fairly new to sewing as well as quilting, so have probably less than ten spools of thread. Exciting, huh??? So I’d be a great person to win!!!

  225. Karee says:

My stash is almost entirely long cottons and am in desperate need of poly/cotton and polys and silky Sulky. I store my 3000 yd spools in clear plastic containers and my 6000 yd on pegs I drilled into my ribbon rack! Weeeeeoooo!

  226. Rhonda says:

I have ALL sorts of threads in my stash — some dating back to my grandmother’s day (I just have those for sentimental value!). My sweet husband bought me a set of threads for Christmas — a total surprise, needless to say. But a girl can never have TOO many spools of thread, can she??

  227. wendy says:

i only have spools of thread for bracelets but now Ive been looking for different color thread because im going to soon purchase my first sewing machine!!!!

  228. Heidi Ross says:

I just have a small thread stash. I have several coats and clark all purpose thread (white, black, taupe). I also have whatever of cream, lt blue and red (have no clue of the brand). Hand quilting thread I have 2 rose and 2 white (brand- can’t remember). Coats and Clark Machine Quilting Cotton Thread, I have 5 and a partial of white and 1 taupe. And now for the grand finale. The partial spool of mettler thread on my sewing machine.

  229. Linda says:

I have three boxes of Isacord embroidery thread–And I could alway

  230. Linda says:

    always use MORE! Thanks!

  231. Jennifer says:

I only have three spools, how sad is that!

  232. Patty says:

my thread stash is a little of this and a little of that….there is some I really like, but I feel like I shouldn’t waste what I have so I use it mainly for piecing…..as long as my machine cooperates.

  233. Sue says:

I have 4 plastic draw stands full of thread all types and kinds for every thing mostly embroidery thread and 2 plastic cases of small sulky that I loan out when a friend gets a new machine and has no thread to get started they return them when they get thread.
Would love more can never have enough thread can you? I have two embroidery machines D-1 and Diamond
    Thanks for asking

  234. Carrie P. says:

Since I love to applique I have just about every color of Mettler embroidery thread 60 weight. I love it for applique. I also have one ART Bin box full of different thread for machine sewing. And a few spools of hand quilting thread.

  235. Cynthia Wood says:

I live at least an hour drive from anywhere that I can purchase lovely threads, except the traditional Coats and Clark. I also purchased a midarm in late February, do would love to have a close place to purchase the right thread for the job just when the “right” time hits. I really need a thread stash.!!!!!

  236. My thread stash is almost ancient–I need something new and current in my supply stash!! Any old thread can sew the pieces together but for quilting or embellishing, I need new stuff for my Quilts of Valor!!

  237. Cheryl Sammons says:

I only wish my thread selection was as good as my fabric selection. I normally use white or brown for piecing, but when it comes to binding, I have a hard time finding something to go with it. Also, applique is non-existent. Need the good stuff that doesn’t unravel, knot and blends well. Have to get my priorities right I guess.

  238. mary says:

I have all different colors so this would be wonderful to work with.

  239. Cheryl says:

Since I am a newbie to quilting (but I am hooked!), I have been working on my fabric stash, and not particularly on my thread stash. So far my thread stash includes white, various colors from sewing projects, and pink thread from a current quilting project. I would love to add more thread to my stash!

  240. Karen Stephens says:

Can a quilter have to much thread??? I think NOT!!!
Fabric, thread…..they go together like tea and cake.
OR pie and ice cream, whichever is your preference… ;)
I have a lot of different colors and I love the color blends!
I’ve been using up my old stash and buying new and better quality thread. Makes a huge difference!

  241. Rachel B says:

I don’t have a lot of thread but I just bought several neutral colors in thread and pre-filled bobbins. I also bought some silk thread for applique but i don’t machine embroider. i hand embroider.

  242. katieQ says:

Although I am the ultimate fabric hoarder, I really enjoy buying thread. Somehow the fact that it doesn’t take up much room makes it a guilt free purchase.
In addition to quilting, I enjoy machine and hand embroidery so my thread stash is a bit eclectic. For machine embroidery my stash is mostly Sulky rayon with some Madeira polyneon and Metro polyester to match specific color needs. I love the sheen and color choices of Sulky rayon. For hand embroidery, I use DMC thread. I use Aurifil thread for piecing. For quilting I adore Sulky varigated cotton thread. I love the subtle flax/wheat look of no. 4001 that works well with so many fabrics.

  243. Cheryl D. says:

My thread stash comes in all shapes and sizes, wooden spools I picked up at auction sales, etc. Some of the brand names are Excell A& E Mills,Inc,Walmart(wow), Woolworth,J & P coats,Trusew, Coats & Clark’s, Lily, Talon,Belding Corticelli,Molnlycke, and a few verigated Sulky which I like the best. I quilt, patch, hem, replace zippers and some of the thread breaks off which doesnt make me very happy!! I really like the Sulky thread.

  244. C.J. Fuhrman says:

I have old and new thread of many types. I separate them by type and color. I satin stitch my fusible appliques with lovely rayons and piece with cottons. I use silk or Bottom Line for hand appliques. I probably have a two lifetime supply!

  245. Ellen Hurd says:

My thread stash is pitaful! However I just bought my first spool of Sulky and absolutely love it. If I could afford to I would to pitch all my crappy thread and buy more. I have some very old polyester thread and some other brands that just really suck. I would treasure some new sulky thread and put it ot good use!

  246. Linda Egge says:

My thread stash is pitiful in comparison with my fabric stash. I have a variety pack of deep colors that I am saving for the perfect project. I really need to just use it! Otherwise, I use cream and grey for my piecing and quilting. I have never used Sulky threads but would love to give them a try, so please draw my name.
    Linda in Southern Illinois

  247. Tonya R. says:

My thread stash is kind of boring. Not very much variety but the threads I use are Sulky. It would be great to have a rainbow to pick from to use. Pick me to delight my senses with color!

  248. Pat V. says:

I really don’t have much of a thread stash. Just several spools of the (neutral) colors I use the most. When I need color, I match it to the quilt I’m making. If I machine embroidered, I know I’d need to have a lot more thread on hand!

  249. Judy says:

I have multiple thread cabinets and boxes… I use embroydery threads, machine and hand quilting ,solids and verigated, 100% cottons, poly-cottons, rayons, metallics, specialty and ,of course, bobbin threads! I have a small collection of the older threads on wooden spools that I use as deco in my sewing room!

  250. Patty says:

I learned to applique and machine quilt with Sulky products and love them all. My stash is rather large, but I never have just the right color and always need more….more….more

  251. Nancy McCrillis says:

I have a desk drawer and three plastic Silky boxes full of thread and still find I need more. I love this stuff. Thanks

  252. Tammy says:

I do not have much of a stash of thread per say. I have started a wish list and have put hints on it for my family. Hopefully they will take the hint. he he

  253. Jennie Steward says:

I have oodles of spools of thread in my sewing cave! I have hand quilting, machine quilting, piecing, embroidery threads….did I miss any?

  254. Leslie Millward says:

I too have a wonderful stash of thread. I have bright colours, copper foil thread, multicoloured thread and fancy verigated thread. I love looking at the selection. The only thing I do not have is a thread to match whatever fabric I am using :) .
    Smiles from Leslie

  255. Leslie Millward says:

I too have a wonderful stash of thread. I have bright colours, copper foil thread, multicoloured thread and fancy veragated thread. I love looking at the selection. The only thing I do not have is a thread to match whatever fabric I am using :) .
    Smiles from Leslie

  256. Sheila Greenbaum says:

I have about 150 spools of thread, mostly embroidery. I quilt but love to do the embroidery on my Husqvarnaviking Rose. No matter how many spools of thread I have, it seems I can always use a color I don’t have. Most of my embroidery thread is Sulky.
I love the bright colors and the varagated threads.

  257. Sandra Mckenzie says:

Since I do machine embroider I have all sorts of threads. Metallic and variegated seem to be my favorites. I enjoy using the variegated ones for the FSL I do. Or for Red Work it just adds a whole new look to the quilt. I also have machine quilting and hand quilting threads. Along with my rayon’s and cotton threads. My husband likes to say I have as much thread as I do fabric. As I tell him you can never have to much of either. :)

  258. Pat Danczek says:

Hi. I LOVE SULKY! It is the only brand iI

  259. Pat Danczek says:

Hi! I LOVE SULKY! It is the only brand I buy now. I embroider every day (if at all possible) and I love how Sulky looks when finished. I have aprox 300-400 spools on a large peg board on the wall and they are mostly Sulky. I love the new poly 60wt for small letters. Always can use more Sulky. Pat D

  260. Nancy says:

Thread…the next frontier…I love thread! I could just eat it up. I have a variety of thread, and am not afraid to use it. I have beautiful, eye candy colors that constantly call out to me to be used in a variety of quilts and surface design. Because I use lots of threads, they span from rayons and metallics to thick variegated and thin texture enducing cottons…What’s not to love about thread??

  261. Kathy says:

My thread supply has only a few Sulkies….love how they sew, a winner of this would be encouraged to keep the sewing machine going all day long.

  262. Pat says:

I am a longarmer so I have aprox 200 large spools of thread for the quilts.
I do machine embrodery and have almost every color Sulky makes. For Free motion quilting I use Sulky. This thread is the best for this.
For my hand embrodery I use Sulky 12wt,this is the best. I only have the red,I’m working on Winter Wonderland.
For my machine piecing I use 100% cotton.
So I have lots of spools and use them all and can always use more.

  263. Kayrn says:

My thread count is Black & Cream & White…I buy as I go because of costs. I start a project-quilt and hide the thread until I do my own top stitching & quilting with the color of the project, then go out & buy enough for a queen or king size quilt. I would love anything you can send my way…love SULKY! Thank you very much, Kayrn Hinkley

  264. Marie McDermott says:

I have about 50 spools of thread! All different kinds by different makers. I especially like sulky for top stitching. You can never have enough thread as you never know just what color or type (silk, rayon, cotton etc) you might need for that special quilt or project! Hoping to be a winner!

  265. Linda says:

My embroidery stash is small, mostly Madiera and gutermann. My machine quilting thread is all coats and clark dual purpose. I’d love to have sulky embroidery thread. I have a few. I love them.

  266. Sandy Martin says:

I have never used Sulky thread so perhaps if I win, I might become a new customer. Would love to try some of the new colorful other kinds of thread that I see and wonder about. I am just learning to do free motion quilting and discovered how much thread it takes. Fingers crossed…Someone has to win. :-)

  267. Glenda Moore says:

I am a newcomer to the quilt world but love the Threads already. My Fav has got to be Superior Thread “Masterpiece” can’t get enough and I always buy the prewound bobbins of same thread. Ok so other than that one I have variegated, love the shiny, the brights, pretty and those that just attract my attention. My box is full and need new boxes for my threads does that tell you how much I like them and want them to be my very own and they want to come home with me. I don’t do embroidery but some hand quilting, applique, and wanting to learn more about thread painting and ways to use thread in designs. Sulky thread has a way of catching my eye but I am intimidated with their thread, would love to know more about Sulky threads.

  268. Judi R says:

I just FINALLY began to organize my thread stash. I bought a carrier to carry my smaller spools and to keep them clean and neat, but that hasn’t helped me for the Sulky sized spools. I bought a June Tailer thread holder that I can keep near my machine for my Sulky collection. Was I surprised at fast that holder filled up! I have just started to do more embroidery by my machine so I thought my thread stash would not be so extensive! I prefer using Sulky threads because of the very wide number of colors and so many shades and tints of every color family. I have never had any thread fray problems using SUlky and my projects turn out just great!

  269. Linda C. says:

I have a large antique thread cabinet that has glass drawer fronts. I have all kinds of threads, YLI, Sulky, Superior, etc. It just depends on what I’m quilting and what the last quilter told me worked great! I try to have a variety of colors but you know how it is-no matter what’s in there you don’t have exactly the color you need!

  270. Bridget L says:

I love fabric, but thread just speak to me in the same way, so my thread stash is not very large, mostly leftovers from various projects. And I do have some big reels in basic colors for piecing. I do like to buy multicolored thread for quilting. And I would love to win some threads from Sulky.

  271. Marilyn L says:

I really don’t have much of a thread stash. I just started working on a Baltimore quilt and I’m trying to find the right thread. I did buy some Sulky for it but haven’t had a chance to use it yet.

  272. Deb M. says:

My thread stash is small. but is beginning to grow due to a purchase of a new machine. I would love to win. Thanks for the chance.

  273. Ida Hansen says:

Whenever my Granddaughter looks in the drawers of my sewing machine cabinet and a chest of drawers next to it, she says, “More thread”. I enjoy having just the right thread for any project I undertake.

  274. Bonita says:

Thanks to my husband my thread stash has gone up exponentially over the Christmas holidays. I have been saving strawberry plastic baskets, the type with lids to sort and store, and after using 12 large ones, I still don’t have enough to sort and store each color variety, much less the different types of thread. Guess I’ll be eating a lot of strawberries through the next year…lol! But like most people who sew, I can always use more to keep up with my sewing and embroidery projects, because it always seems like the one color I need is not among the ones I have.

  275. Rita Sheloff says:

I have 7 plastic bins where I store my thread in. One is for my poly thread, used for sewing garments. Two are for my cotton threads for quilting, another one is used for my rayon threads for embroidery and 3 are for my poly sheen threads for embroidery. Wow…when you made it write it out like that, I had no idea I had that much thread…!

  276. Pam says:

I use to have a Thread Bed full, but I decided they had to go so my supply is low. I keep adding to my supply as I do new projects, but I sure could use some new thread. It would be fun to try a variety of different threads with my projects. I have not tried machine embroidery yet, but it looks great.

  277. Maureen says:

I love threads..I quilt by hand, do extensive hand applique…hat boxes and wall holders are all full of beautiful colors of silks, applique and lots of hand quilting threads.

  278. Cindy says:

I went to Sulky teacher certification and it is tthe most fun!!! It really got me into thread and what you can do with it!

  279. Margaret Hofmann says:

I have a large thread stash especially machine embroidery. I also do machine quilting on my home machine and I especially love using Sulky Blendables for that. I have lots of different kinds of thread for other uses. Would love to win more!!!!

  280. Mary Sheets says:

My thread stash is just starting to grow. I have experimented with some speciality threads and a step up from my department store threads for piecing and quilting. Once I started purchasing my threads at local quilt shops, I seen a big difference in my piecing acuarcy because the thread is finer but still strong and my quilting stiches look more even. I quilt for my own pleasure and make gifts for others and thought no one will ever really know the differnece in the thread I use. Well, now I do and it is like fabric, you become addicted. I will just build my thread stash a little slower and buy one to three spools at a time. It is fun but takes a lot longer at the quilt shops now……fabric and now thread!

  281. Sarah W says:

Lots of cotton threads, but no fancy machine embroidery threads. They all look so yummy!!!!

  282. Sally says:

When I was a sales rep for a company with a traveling sample set and was my own best customer, I always ordered plenty of thread for each project I purchased. Then I got into quilting and HAD to have all the beautiful varigateds for finishing. After I developed an allergy to acrylic and polyester, it was a whole new stash of cotton-only sewing thread. And now I’m adding an embroidery machine to my equipment, so it’s a whole other world of thread to savor.

  283. karen says:

I am a new quilter and have been introduced by my instructor to Sulky threads. I am starting my collections. They are beautiful and such vibrant colors. I used a your thread to quilt my granddaughter’s quilt and it added such a lushious sheen. I also use Sulky for embroidery. My husband and I square dance and I make our clothes (yes the outfit you see I made). Future projects will find some of the Sulky threads

  284. Nita Sims says:

My stash includes all kinds and ages of thread, including some gifted from my and other gals’ moms! If a thread is too brittle and breaks too easily, it becomes basting thread. Embroidery and quilting take a lot of thread, so, of course, that means thread must be continually replenished, heh-heh!

  285. Pam Treiber says:

I have four sulky thread boxes of embroidery thread, over one hundred cotton colors for quilting and then I have some my grandmother gave me from the 60′s for mending that just sit in a box in the bottom drawer of my old sewing machine. I can always match my fabric and thread color, my husband thinks I am crazy.

  286. Joyce says:

I have been quilting for several years now. When I first started quilting, I thought Joann’s large spools of Coats and Clarke in the neutral colors was a great bargain and bought several spools. I don’t like them as they really clog up my sewing machine with lint. Then I found Presentia thread and love it. I have several large spools of grey, still trying to use up the Joann’s thread, and quite a few spools in different colors of Sulky thread when I need a specific color (which I have a lot of spools).

  287. Donna Dooley says:

Been quilting and sewing for years but have recently found that I am thread deficient. I have been learning more about threads and their applications. I know it can make the difference in my final products just like the fabrics I choose. Thanks.

  288. Susie says:

My thread stash is pitiful. It’s embarrassing really. I’d love the chance to win some good quality thread. I prefer to do all of my work by hand rather than machine and I’m always looking for a good quality thread.

Thanks so much for giving the chance to win!

  289. Thread is food. I have antique thread, only to be eaten by same age fabrics. I have middle-of-the-road thread, to disappear in clothing that will wear out anyhow. I have quality thread, for those things that I want to last into the next generation. Thread to knit, from almost sewing machine thickness to 1/4 inch, thread to embroider, and thread to mend socks. Thread connects me with my loved ones, my cherished things and myself. The more thread, the more me =^}
Irene all wired up in Amsterdam

  290. Mary Ferreter says:

I have C & C that I had acquired in my “younger” sew days and need to get rid of. Now I have mostly Metrosene for garment sewing, Maxi-lock serger thread, Isacord for machine embroidery and am expanding my horizons by trying different brands so I can see how they work.

  291. Lisa says:

My thread stash… for embroidery I already use sulky threads. They seem to sew the best. I bought some cheaper threads on eBay from (Ill call them) TA and it shreds on me often and is frustrating. I have many color of sulky but what Ive always wanted to try was the metallics. Would like to pick up some multi-colored spools too. Thanks!

  292. Diane says:

My thread stash includes embroidery thread, quilting thread, metallic, and love variegated thread. Seems like never have the enough. I have sulky, isocord, superior, and other specialty threads.

  293. Jennifer Schifano Eutsler says:

My thread stash? It has a little bit of everything. I also collect vintage thread and even have some thread pics posted on my Facebook. Lately I’ve really been into machine quilting with variegated thread. I have so many empty spools, I can always use some more!

  294. Vivian says:

The majority of my “official” quilting thread stash is primarily cottons in the basic neutrals (black, white, cream, tan, grey) that I use for piecing and if suitable, for the quilt stitching. I have an “unofficial” stash of color polyester threads from the days when I sewed clothes that I use when I need a color thread for quilt stitching.

In the last few years, I’ve begun to add varigated and specialty threads for quilt stitching when projects call for something that I don’t have already have on hand. I have a few specialty spools of thread like mettalics and perle cottons that I’ve gotten as samples or during store sales that have also managed to come in handy for projects.

The dream of owning an embroidery machine and a serious stash of decorative threads is still a ways away but definitely in my future!

  295. Carol Johnson says:

I love working with variegated threads, especially Sulky threads. My thread stash could use a boost of variegated and metallics threads from Sulky as this brand always works well when using my embroidery machine. Thanks.

  296. Kathy Boice says:

I have a Bernina 730E machine. I use assorted types of Mettler, Guttierman, Issa, and Robinson Anton. I want to eventually try Sulky threads. I have over 400 spools of thread! Not counting my “younger days” collection of coats and clark threads. This thread count includes a wall holder of Guttierman threads from Jo Ann Fabrics, which has 100 colors of polyester thread. I have over 180 threads for my embroidery machine, and more than 120 cottons for quilting and sewing quilts. I am proud of my thread collection and have it all organized in plastic thread boxes. I also want to add varigated threads and a few metallics.

  297. Doreen Kennedy says:

I have a new embroidery machine and need lots of thread! I especially like verigate threads

  298. MoeWest says:

I have about 75 spools of thread of all types. I have 100% cotton, embroidery thread, metallic, and cotton-wrapped polyester. I usually buy new colours as I need them for a particular project. Sometimes I will just ‘collect’ when I see a good sale. I do have space on my thread racks for more, so thanks for the giveaway.

  299. SheilaC says:

I have been experimenting with the Aurifil threads and I really love the texture and colors

    SheilaC

  300. LindaK says:

Except for white, cream and basic black, it’s almost nonexistent unless you count the knotted up pile left in a sewing box I got from my mother when she died in 1986.

  301. thepricklypinecone says:

My thread stash is pretty minimal since I haven’t long been doing sewing and quilting. Just your basic cotton thread.

  302. Judie says:

I have quite a bit of thread, mostly Coats and Clark and Sulky. I don’t do much machine embroidery, but would love to do more.

  303. Cathy Buel says:

I love thread. I bought 4 plastic toy car totes and have them filled with all kinds of thread. One has nothing but hand quilting threads in all colors. Another is filled with hand applique threads. Then there is one for embroidery threads and the last is for sewing threads. Forget shoes….a quilter can’t have enough thread. Hugs.

  304. Melissa says:

I have about 125 spools of embroidery machine thread. I don’t over worry about having just the right color for a design as I often stitch out designs in whatever color I want anyway! Hubby made me a giant holder that hangs on the wall. I just love looking at all the colors.

  305. thunder kaplan says:

I have a few of the color collections from connecting threads, and some other random threads. I do not do any machine embroidery. just piecing, and quilting.

  306. Sharon says:

I love thread, but my stash is lacking. Since I recently purchased a mid-arm quilter I find that ‘Mr. Stretch’ doesn’t like the same type as ‘Ms. Pfaff’ so the search is on. ‘Ms. Pfaff’ will sew with just about any type of thread, Coats and Clark, Maderia, Aurafil, King Tut, YLI, Gutermann, Signature, Iris Ultra, Valdani, Brother and Robison-Anton. It doesn’t matter if it is 100% cotton, cotton/poly, rayon or polyneon. ‘Mr. Stretch’ is a lot more fussy. He really dislikes the Robison-Anton and Valdani so far and likes to create lots of fuzz for use in other projects. The Signature, YLI and Gutermann are okay, but we’re still looking for a favorite thread for him. Variegated threads are my very favorite for quilting. They blend so well on the quilt and bring a little bit of mystery as well. Thanks for the giveaway!

  307. Sue F. says:

I love using sulky thread! I could always use lots more! :)

  308. Joanne Bryan says:

I live an hours drive from a town with embroidery thread. People ask “don’t you have enough thread?”. There is never enough : ) is always my response.

  309. ana foster says:

I am very low on thread it is getting hard to find where I live. I love sulky thread. I would be great to have a good supply of colors.

  310. Kathleen C says:

I love the thread colors that are available today and the wonderful effects achieved by using specialty threads–Nevertheless, my thread collection is not large and is limited to standard thread for machine sewing and for hand quilting. I’d love to expand my collection and learn how to use many of the Sulky threads. Their generous giveaway will please many quilters. Thanks very much.

  311. SewCalGal says:

One can never have enough thread. I love thread for quilting, machine embroidery, threadplay, etc. My dream would be an entire room full of beautiful thread. Does that sound like I’m obsessed with thread? Definitely.

  312. vicki says:

Have been machine embroidering for 5+years; dh bought me the maderia thread chest and I have added lots of sulky; guttermann and coats/clark. Plus I have 4 plastic storage containers for serger thread, plus a thread stand full, more plastic containers of cotton embroidery thread; reg sewing thread(I quilt), and one with pearl crown rayon think thats it. But it seems everytime I plan on quilting I have to go buy the thread the quilt is demanding. So thanx this was fun, and we all can always use more thread

  313. Joanne says:

Thread, and the joy it brings is really ” my fiber of life!” I have lots of old stuff and sew enjoy the bright colors. Those were never on the wooded spools. It would be great to win to keep on stitched up give-away stuff for charity and maybe some fun for me!,

  314. Shayla Sharp says:

I have a small thread stash for quilting and sewing which has a mix of colors and, more recently, neutrals. Although, currently, it does not include every thread I think I should have, I do try to add a bit to it each month. Thanks for the fun giveaway!

  315. nik says:

Right now I have a small collection of Coats & Clark and a few precious spools of King Tut. Thank you for the giveaway…cheers!

  316. UMMMMMM, a lot of thread, over 100 very large spools of #69 thread (do car upholstery work), at least 60 large cones of embroidery thread, and many small spools of sewing thread.. I do share with friends and family though. A bunch of serger threads, I also use many types of threads to ply with my hand-spun yarns. What a great give-away! Thread, fabric, wool, fiber, one can never be surrounded by lovely color!

  317. Ohh, my thread stash is almost non-existent! I would love to win!

  318. Teri Rice says:

I really like Sulky variegated when I am doing the actual quilting and would love to win more thread.

  319. Annie says:

Sulkys are awesome and especially their variegated ones. I would really LOVE to win some! Wow. That would be awesome!

  320. Collette says:

Love Sulky threads for embellishing and embroidery. Thanks for the opportunity to add to my thread stash.

  321. Tonya Jones says:

The other day my Hubby said “For Pete sake how many spools of thread do you have?” My answer to his face was about 100…but as I turned away under my breth I told the truth…between 200 to 300……hope that lightning does not hit me!!!!

  322. Kathy says:

Take a guess how many I have. Hint is sometimes that cute little girl I embroidered has Christmas green hair! Guess I need some!!!

  323. JB says:

Sorry to say I go over to my sister’s house to get just the right shade. Sure she would love to see me win a few nice shades for myself. I would love it too!

  324. Leah says:

Been trying to collect all those beautiful shades. Now working on setting up a sewing room for myself and have plenty of room to add to the stash. You can never have too many as I see it! Come on Sulky!

  325. Carolyn Briese says:

My thread stash is almost non-existent. Hope to improve that with a trip to Paducah on Friday. Need to stock up for another year.

  326. Carolyn Briese says:

My thread stash is almost non-existent (comes from living in the sticks). Will be improving the stash with a trip to Paducah on Friday.

    carolyn.briese@yahoo.com

  327. Linda says:

    WOW! I’M A BEGINNER+WOULD LOVE ANY THREADS!
I HAVE TRIED METTLER +LOVE IT!
    THANKS FOR SHARING!

  328. Janet says:

I have several different weights of threads and prefer 50 wt. cotton for piecing and applique. I like lots of colors and so have 100+ spools. I find I mostly use “close enough” or a neutral to machine piece but as close as exact for applique. I don’t have much Sulky as it isn’t too available to me here but I would love to add it to my “collection”!

  329. Patty Wilson says:

My thread stash is pitiful. I have 7 children and 18 grandchildren with two more on the way. Just bought a new embroidery machine and am anxious to get started..but need thread something awful.

  330. Nancy says:

Wow! Who wouldn’t love to have these beautiful threads? I have a selection of materials I collected several years back, but my thread supply is pretty much non-existent. What a gift this would be!!

  331. Jackie says:

My thread stash is bigger than it needs to be and not NEARLY as large as I WANT it to be!!! I have thread from every maker I have been able to find. I have boxes and boxes of embroidery thread. Just finished going through about 300 skeins and donated half to a school art department. I have thread for my serger and sewing machine thread. Because my sewing area changes as children move in or out, I have some thread stored in a closet. I am learning to freehand machine embroidery and using a lot of “spool pieces” to practice! I have to STOP myself from buying more thread – and I OFTEN FAIL!

  332. Shirlu Kelly says:

When I start a sewing project I usually go out and buy way too much thread. I live quite a ways away from the fabric store so I get what I need when I get there.
So my stash can get rather large at times.

  333. Shirley says:

I have a little bit of everything in my thread stash, though it’s nowhere near as large as my fabric stash. Unlike fabric, some thread does seem to go bad, so I’m now careful about what I buy. My current stash includes, Coats & Clark, Mettler, and Sulky. I have some wonderful Sulky threads that I’ve gotten at quilt shows – grab bags that have different things for me to try.

  334. mary says:

    SULKEY THREAD IS THE GREATEST

  335. Arretta says:

Thread stash hate to admit it I have very old spools of thread that I look at and remember my Grandma she was quite a seamstress, threads in colors that are coming back from my youth in the 70′s and almost every type of long staple cotton on the market, some wonder polyesters for longarm quilting and the silk that I only take out when I feel the quilt I am quilting is going to be a treasure.

  336. Susan says:

Thank you for offering this contest. I use mostly neutral colored threasd for piecing. I use mostly gutterman. I have a few spools of sulky blendables and really like them. I also have a spool of sulky invisible thread and a few spoools of signature thread. I have about half an ice cream bucket of thread, mostly cotton. I don’t machine embroder much although I do have an embroiderery machine that I am anxious to learn how to use!

  337. Vivian Bernsen says:

I have been sewing since I got my first sewing machine over 50 years ago. I cannot begin to count all my thread. If I had to guess I would estimate roughly 7 to 8 hundred, maybe more.
I used to make wedding garments, all my clothes my husbands clothes, now I quilt and embroider.

  338. cindy says:

When friends mother’s die I get all there old thread. Not too good for quilting but wonderful to sew strips together for ragrug making. I would love some high quality thread.
    Cindy

  339. Pamela Reim says:

I love just looking at thread like I love looking at stacks of fabrics. but I really got into thread when I got my longarm. so now I have dozens of large spools for that plus it sparked more interest in using different threads when i quilt on my regular machine. So more would be lovely. I love Superior threads (Bob rocks) but i use Sulky for many small projects and accents.

  340. Andrea says:

I have a very small thread collection. It is in serious need of updating. I love Sulky products.

  341. Mom C says:

I used to do a lot of machine embroidery, before computers! and I have several boxes of shiny, shimmering thread. So my question is, does thread deteriorate over time? And how would I know. When my mom passed away several years ago I inherited all her sewing supplies. I’ve used most of the thread so I hope it was good. When I get on a piecing binge I end up using whatever color thread I have, and don’t worry about matching the bobbin. Then I fill my bobbins and go thread shopping again.

  342. Helen Petrik says:

I’m a thread novice. I have a large selection of colors from Connecting Threads that I use for quilts I donate to Mayo Clinic/St.Mary’s Hospital Children’s Pediatric Infusion Unit (kids’ chemo). However, I need some fun threads for my personal quilting.

  343. Clarissa says:

I don’t have too many threads for the simple reason that I only recently started sewing, and I mostly sew small projects (coasters, burpcloths, bibs). Some additional threads would be nice to have ^o^

  344. Allison Gougeon says:

I have a small tower of thread. Love aurifil tho. thanks for the chance!

  345. Sara says:

I’m new to sewing. Just got my fabric to start my first quilt. I have a TINY thread stash… TINY. Like I don’t know what type, but just white, brown and black. I NEED thread so badly!

  346. Would LOVE to have Sulky threads on hand for free motion quilting!!!

  347. Pamela Coughlin says:

Thread, all the different colors and all the different kinds! Wonderful silky, embroidery, hand quilting, cottons, polyester, heirloom, and many other kinds for many kinds of projects. You can never have enough threads or fabrics! It seems like every time you start a new project, new threads seem to have to be bought too! Love the multi color threads too! Beautiful threads, beautiful projects!

  348. Angela says:

I have cotton quilting thread for my machine and for hand quilting, polyester and polyester coated threads, and I recently started buying Sulky embroidery thread for my new Janome. I love thread almost as much as the fabric. It can definitely make or break a beautiful quilt.

  349. Viv Crudeli says:

Threads-sewing for 30 years gives me a large variety of mainly Gutermann thread (approx 100) as we don’t have access to any other brands here. I have nearly every colour for quilting, dressmaking and lots of hand embroidery. Would love to see what Sulky is like.

  350. Dennis says:

I have to use what I can find. Special thread is something I ask for bday and Christmas. I don’t drive any more because of the meds I have to take so when I have a few extra dollars I get fabric and thread to match at dept. store. I would love to win.

  351. Joanne Dyer says:

My thread collection has really dwindled since I started quilting about one year ago. I’ve used up a lot of the partial spools I had left from my clothes sewing days. Now I try to watch sales and buy as needed!

  352. Jen W says:

Well, my thread stash is pretty pathetic – color wise not
so much but definitely by pedigree!

  353. Lori from WI says:

I am a dedicated Sulky thread junkie. It makes up 90 percent of my stash. Would love to add more to it. Thanks

  354. LisaT says:

I actually do have a lot of the small Sulky thread spools and I do machine embroider. I use Sulky because it works well on my Pfaff machine. Ive only ever tried the Rayon. I would like to pick up some of the varigated ones and try the metallics. Thanks!

  355. Pam in KC says:

I’m currently managing to keep my thread stash to 3 shoe boxes. One is my ‘regular’ sewing thread (poly or poly/cotton), one box of quilting thread (100% cotton) and a box of specialty threads — invisible, embroidery, wash away, super fine for heirloom sewing. Wait I take that back. There’s also the drawer full of serger thread, that I nearly forgot since I so seldom use my serger any more. My specialty box is getting full. I recently acquired an embroidery machine and the gal gave me a couple of dozen spools of Sulky thread. When I start to really use the machine, I’m going to have to find a better solution for storage.

  356. Katie R. says:

I have a small stash of thread and all of my quilting thread is Sulky. Their thread just goes through my machine like a dream! Would love to add to my 8 cone “stash” that I currently have. I need more!

  357. As I am a beginner my thread stash and variety is very small but I am o.k with it :D
    Thanks for the chance!

  358. sandra parsons says:

I have spools of Guttermann quilting thread, a mixed tin of small threads for hand applique, some “bargain threads” just for basting, that’s about it! :)

  359. MaryBeth Little says:

Well, I have rayon embroidery thread and LOTS of 100% cotton thread 50 weight for piecing. I’ve pitched some thread that was so old it fell apart when I tried to use it for hand piecing, glad I didn’t get very far with that one, LOL.

  360. Jen says:

My thread stash consists of a ton of old spools given to me by my mother. They are so old! But for the most part, they are still good! I sure would love to win some Sulky threads to add to my stash!

  361. Pingback: *What Else Is Happening at Quiltmaker? | Quilty Pleasures Blog

  362. Gaile Smith says:

My thread stash is minimal – black, white, beige and 6 other colors. I am new to applique’ and winning this would definitely give me a stash.

  363. Cindy W. says:

My stash is not big at all. I just started to quilt. Thanks for a chance to win.

  364. Melissa Garcia says:

I just moved and left ALL my thread behind with fellow quilters overseas. So my thread stash is pretty small right now. I would love to win these Sulky threads to use on it.

  365. Jljkeane says:

I have a 3 drawer office supplies organizer to keep all my favorite sulky thread for the embroidery machine

  366. duff says:

so far, I’m using Guterman thread because it happened to be on sale at Joann’s when I needed new thread. I generally try something once and if it works, I stick with it. I’ve never tried Sulky so if I am the winner, I will enjoy trying something new and if it works better than the brand I’m using, wha-la! I’m hooked! thanks for the opportunity to win!

  367. Carol Sc says:

I have to admit, the majority of my thread is cotton and neutral colors. I have done some limited embroidery and used some metallics. I’m wishing for more time to experiment and practice.

  368. Bev C says:

I have lots of threads, I do machine embroidery and have plenty of those. Always after threads to match what I am making. I use a lot of cream thread.
    Happy day.s

  369. Vida Arrington says:

My thread stash is very sedate at the moment. It needs some spicing up. I would love to add more thread, especially Sulky.

  370. Jacque says:

Thread stash? What is that? LOL I have a few neutral colors and a couple of half empty spools of brights. Ahh, the beautiful sulky threads would be so welcome here!

  371. Claudia says:

My machine and I loove Sulky thread. If the machine loves it and we get along well, there’s an ever increasing stash of it in my life. Great products.

  372. agnes warren says:

Compared to my fabric stash my thread stash is sadly lacking. I NEED thread. I love bright vibrant colours but find myself buying neutral cottons that will go with most things. Fingers crossed I win some lovely Sulky threads..

  373. Christine Gray says:

As one quilt teacher told me, I have too much of the wrong brand (I won’t tell you her knickname for it!) I have tried some Sulky and loved it, but feel guilty not using up my other stash..anybody got any suggestions? :)

  374. My thread stash is extensive…..most of which is used for embellishment on quilted postcards, machine quilting and for general quilting. =) Would be fun to win this.

  375. Debbie says:

I have at least a few spools of most brands of thread. The ones in this giveaway would be great to add to my stash. Thanks for counting me in.

  376. Melinda says:

Oh my. Well, I have a bunch of stuff I bought to use for one specific project, then never used again. I never have enough white, and I even have some my MIL gave me that’s probably as old as the hills. Needless to say, none of it is of all that great a quality!

  377. Vicci Conway says:

My embroidery thread stash is just over 500 spools from many manufacturers and differing types. My sewing thread stash is about 75 spools. The embroidery thread is organized by color in different drawers of a rolling Elfa cabinet.

  378. cj says:

Have been sewing since the young age of 15, some 44 years. My mother inspired me.I have a room(5×10) full of material stash, and a separate table full of boxes of thread. I have regular sewing thread, quilting thread and machine and hand embroidery thread. Some of the threads I have kept , just for keeping them. from my mother before she passed years ago. and some from friends that just do not want to keep “half” spools. I always have thread on hand, ‘just in case.’I also buy ‘lots’ off ebay.Seems when anyone I know wants or needs , I have it.

  379. Diana says:

My thread collection includes threads for hand piecing, hand quilting, hand embroidery. Then it grew exponentially when I started machine sewing and quilting. I’ve used Coats & Clarks, Maderia, Mettler solids and variegated , Gutterman , Sulky variegated, and some other Japanese threads. I only have 4 spools of Sulky thread, though. Would love to win this prize to experience the Sulky advantage. Thanks for the giveaway!

  380. amy dame says:

my thread stash is one of the few aspects of my studio that actually stays organized! i have one tall rolling drawer bin with needles in the top drawer, and general use polyester thread (gutermann and mettler, because i’m a bit of a snob) separated by colour in three more drawers below. those four drawers all have smaller containers to subdivide the colours and the type of needle, and then the two big drawers at the bottom are serger thread, since it takes up so much space. and then i have two smaller sets of drawers, one for cottons for quilting, and one for machine embroidery threads. they’re organized by colour too. and that’s not even getting into my threads for hand work, which are organized into plastic containers!

  381. Thread is the second most element of a quilt! Material being first. I’d love to have this give away!

  382. Karen in SE Wisconsin says:

Still trying to build a stash of thread … keep using up what I do have!

  383. jil says:

I think that good quality thread is worth using, and having the right colour could make a good job, better. I tend to use neutrals but an accent can be created by the right colour, so any contributions will be gratefully accepted. Thank-you.

  384. Jules says:

I finally did the deed, I rehomed all my 20-30 year old, cheap thread and have started replacing it all 1 or 2 at a time. Sulky thread would be a great and welcome addition to my “threadbare” stash.

  385. Nancy Smith says:

I love these threads! What a blessing to receive such beautiful colors!

  386. Mary C in KC says:

I can always use more thread. It seems as if I never have the right color. Thanks

  387. Rita Goshorn says:

i’ve been stuck on the mettler thread sold by my lqs and have seen sulky ads that i’ve thought about trying, adding to my stash of spools – a stash that only incudes my fav colors. i don’t machine embroider, but use the same spool for machine quilting as i do for piecing. seems like i could get adventurous and try somenew color quilting!

  388. SewCalGal says:

One can never have enough thread, especially when on sews, quilts and machine embroiders. Sulky has lovely thread too.

  389. Karyn says:

My thread stash leaves a lot to be desired. I have a LOT of thread…but most of it is really REALLY old (love the wooden spools)…..

  390. Marty Askins says:

I’m out of sulky thread, I only have the 1 each of black and white and they are the discount thread. So, I would really appreciate winning some thread.

  391. Evelene Sterling says:

Oh my, my stash is quite small with only 5 spools. I am so embarrassed to say this.

  392. dianne bondaroff says:

My thread stash is multi generational. I have thread I’ve bought, thread I inherited with my Moms sewing box and thread from dear friend who passed away. She had an entire collection of one line – too old to sew with but I’m keeping as a decoration. Maybe I can use it for embellishing? Thanks for a chance in your draw.

  393. Toni Anne says:

My thread stash lives in a plastic rolling cart in my sewingroom. I have alot of neutrals, some varigated cones I also seem to have lots of old wooden spools that came with each of my Featherweight machines. I would love to have some types of thread I haven’t tried yet. I do own many spools of Sulky and Superior thread. Thank you for the generous chance to win. ;>

  394. Karen says:

I’m a new quilter, just learning free-motion quilting so I have very little quilting thread. I’m a fabric junkie so wouldn’t be surprised if threads starting sneaking into my house…

  395. Kathleen C says:

Even though I’ve been doing patchwork, hand applique and hand quilting for a long time, my thread collection is limited to regular threads in each category of sewing. In part this is due to my budget, but I’m ready to expand my thread experiences. I’d love to do some simple machine quilting with variegated threads, rayons and other specialties. Threads will open a whole new realm of techniques to learn, and that will be fun.

  396. AnnMarie Reynolds says:

I was blessed to inherit my great aunt’s stash of silk thread on wooden spools. They are old and fragile but beautiful to look at. After purchasing a new embroidery/sewing machine, I purchased a basket full of embroidery thread that a local sewing store sold inexpensively. I later learned that it is old and weak and fraying and had to dispose of 50 spools. I have been working on an embroidered quilt using Sulky rayon and I LOVE IT! My goal is to replace my tossed spools with Sulky. The embroidery comes out beautifully. Thank you for the opportunity to enter.

  397. Mrs Susan Johnson says:

I have been and still am a full time carer to my son and decided to have a bit of meeee time in doing something I always wanted to do which is quilting. At the age of 64 I don’t think I’m too old to make this my hobby. I have a new Janome quilting sewing machine / 2 bottom line threads / 1 King tut and 2 Gutterman.
I look on it as” The world is now my oyster” and I hope I have plenty years infront of me to make some wonderful quilts.

  398. Patty says:

I have “collected” quite a lot of thread over the years I have been sewing – a little bit of everything: serger thread, machine embroidery thread, top-stitching thread, specialty thread and general sewing thread – so much thread that my wonderful husband made me a special chest of drawers to store it in! But there is always room for more, and I would love to try something new. Thank you Sulky for making a variety of wonderful thread and thanks to Quiltmaker and Sulky for this opportunity win an assortment of Sulky thread.

  399. Chris says:

I am pretty select these days about my thread. I gave the old Coats and Clark away a few years ago and now I buy only Aurifil, Superior, King Tut, Sulky and Gutterman. Todays thread is just wonderful compared to 10 years ago. Thanks for the chance to win.

  400. Desdemona says:

When my sister introduced me to quilting in 2004, I bought my first sewing machine and took my first classes at Quilt University. I quickly became addicted, decided to retire and play around with quilting. So far, I have made over 300 quilts of all varieties–bed, lap tops, crib size, table runners, wall hangings, and more. I’m now concentrating on art quilts.

My thread stash is good, I have a dozen full wooden racks on one side of my quilt studio walls with thread organized alphabetically by manufacturer: Aurifil, Hemingworth, Kreinik, Madeira, Mettler, Robison Anton, Signature, Sulky, Superior, YLI, and Yenmet. I don’t care for Coats and Clark or Gutterman, but I know others do. Since I am a visual person, I need to see what I have; thus, putting my thread on the wall for easy viewing and access. The racks are away from sunlight and protected from dust by cellophane strips. [Ask me about my rulers. :) :)]

The thread includes most any type, such as silk, polyester, cotton, thick or heavy weight, bobbin specialty, and a variety of decorative thread. Since I purchase only quality threads, I am able to use them all successfully. Since I do a lot of thread painting as well as art quilts, my thread stash could always use replenishing. I would love to be enabled with more thread for my number one passion.

    Good luck everyone,
    Desdemona

  401. I keep my thread stash (thread, perle, floss) in large preserving jars … bottled in neutrals, cools, warms etc.

I go round charity shops and flea markets for old cotton reels – the colours are fantastic and the quality is superb.

  402. Marybeth says:

Hi! I keep my thread in a shoe box – very disorganized! But I have some old spools that belonged to my grandmother, and several that belonged to my mother… I wouldn’t use them, but I just love having them around… Thanks for the giveaway!

  403. Anne says:

I have about 30 spools of embroidery thread. I checked, but I didn’t find any from Sulky. I own a mishmash of Floriani, Coats & Clark, Madeira, and Robison Anton. Most of my threads came packaged with embroidery software or from gift-with-purchase promotions.

  404. Peter says:

I had lots of spools of very nice thread, probably about 200.
My pet dog tubby jumped up on my table and chewed the spools so that now I have nothing.
    Good on you tubby!!

  405. Glenda says:

I machine embroider so I have lots of thread of all kinds and types. It seems as if I never have the right color when I start a project. So, I have to get more thread that matches that project! I also have a serger and two tubs of serger thread.

  406. Lee says:

  408. Jo Stires says:

Oh, do I have thread, but my sister, in another state and whom I visit every June, has very little. Since I’m selfish and don’t want to share, I would love to win thread for her so she can be more creative with her embroidery. Wah Hoo!

  409. denise says:

I ahve a huge stash of Thread, I have plastic drawers with all my embroidery threads, and racks on my wall for all my sewing and quilting thread. I Probably have over 300 spools of various threads but I can always use some more! ; )

I don’t have much for thread these days and sure could use a win on this contest! Thanks for offering it to us! Cheers, Cathy

  411. Julie says:

A large amount of my thread stash is cotton for quilts. I do have some machine embroidery thread that I use to applique and have done some machine embroidery. I also have polyester thread for general sewing. I recently read an article about cotton quilting thread and how much stronger and longer lasting the thread is today than what my grandmother used.
Thanks for the chance to win Sulky thread.

You can never have enough thread and Sulky threads are the best!

  415. Annette Barron says:

I only have a few spools of all purpose threads in the basic colors, purchased at walmart… funds are too limited to purchase the threads I would prefer to have …oh well, :) one day I’ll have as much thread as everyone else! (or attempt to…some of you ladies have a fairly healthy stash). LOL

  416. Liz Tius says:

My thread stash is not very big. I have 2 colors of piecing thread and some quilting thread…oh and I bought a case with 30 embroidery threads when I bought my embroidery machine. I have seen some oh so awesome threads out there. And such beautiful colors.

  417. Donna W says:

My husband thinks it is too big, but I say it never can be big enough!!! I have my piecing stash, my quilting stash, and my embroidery (hand and machine) stash

  418. Christina says:

I have about 400 spools and cones of thread – 33% cotton, 33% embroidery thread and 34% poly or poly blend. It’s a rainbow love affair. I adore the texture and effects each thread adds. Like adding just the right person to bring the party to life!
    ~Christina

  419. Vickie k says:

I need some more colored thread for machine quilting. Grey is boring!!

  420. Irene says:

    Ahhh, how I would like those threads to sparkle up my quilts! 8^}

  424. Angela says:

So far I’ve been picking up a few good threads here and there. I also have an embroidery machine that I LOVE and have been buying thread for. I still have (many) colors missing for sewing though. :o )

  429. momsarah says:

Like my overflowing fabric stash, my threads are exploding! I can’t seem to throw any thread away. I just found some threads that are older than me! I love the variety that sulky has and so I’ve begun to replace the older threads. No thread has been tossed…. just put on display. Thank you !!

Oh how I would love to win this, thanks for the chance..

  432. Mary Valaika says:

Oh I have lots of thread, some is old, am trying to gradually get rid of the old stuff and replace it. I’ll use the old stuff on smaller items, or mending; not my quilts. I buy thread all the time. My local quilt shop ladies think I must eat it. I have long arm poly thread, and cotton/poly thread, and cotton thread; DSM variegated topstitching thread; DSM threads in lots of colors; clear thread; smoky-clear thread; a ton of DMC embroidery floss. But I can sure use new spools of high quality thread for piecing and quilting.

  433. Jeanette says:

Oh, yes, I started out as a fabricolic. Then I bought a combo sewing/embroidery machine and discovered a NEW love: THREAD!!! I have Sulky, Poly X40, Maderia, Aurifil, Coats & Clark, Gutterman, and more (apologies for any misspelled names). I love to pick up varigated thread and use it on my many projects. Adding a little glitter to a project adds a smile to my face. MORE PLEASE!

  434. Kris says:

  449. kathleen c says:

I have almost no experience with special threads, though I’d love to try some by Sulky. I sometimes use YLI 100 wt. silk for hand applique-it truly disappears tho I have a problem with it breaking. I machine sew with Guterman, and I have an average number of colors and lots of shades of grey. My hand quilting is done with Guterman usually.
Thanks for the chance to win.

  450. Leslie says:

I have not had the chance to use any specialty threads so this giveaway would be wonderful.

  451. Nancy D. says:

I’ve not really done much embroidery. I’m really just getting into it. I do have a pretty good stash of thread though. Most are neutral colors or ones I’ve bought for specific projects. I’ve mostly got Coats & Clark, a few Connecting Threads and Sulky. I’ve inherited a handful of old spools that date back to the 50s and have no idea what brand.

  452. Debra says:

My thread stash is BORING. Mostly whits and creams. I need some color in my life!

  454. Danielle Meisel says:

I have some thread left over from my mother. I love the metallics though for the earrings I am making. I have had a year full of illness, and this has been one of the the only things keeping me sane.

  455. ElfRenee says:

I don’t have a stash unfortunately! I have white thread and brown thread…that’s it!

  456. Allison C says:

I never have the right colors or types – so I have a lot of orphan threads!! Colors that I thought would match!

  458. Pam in London says:

When I bought a used embroidery machine a few years ago, I bought lots of colors of polyester embroidery thread. Then I took up quilting ……….. so I need to start another collection of piecing and quilting thread. Then there’s the serger that needs thread ………. can one ever have enough thread?

My thread stash is starting to rival my fabric stash. I can’t afford alot of fabric anymore but I can afford to buy a spool or two of speciality threads. Currently I am loving all the bright Spring/Summer colors available.

  464. Naomi Vela says:

I have two homemade stands that hold 96 reels each and they’re both almost full, then I have a bag of embroidery threads my friend gifted me to use on the fancy machine, and then I have my ‘good’ stuff 100% cottons by Gutterman, some other brand that I can’t think of, then there’s my rassant threads too….so I have a vast collection, but will always make room for more *winks* Thanks for the chance to win a suitcase full. Hugs naomi

  465. Kandus says:

Thread, is just like fabric, you never have enough of it….. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  467. Trudy L says:

I have a thread rack that holds 60 spools of thread. It is full of a rainbow of threads, and mostly of Coats & Clarks brands, but I do have several spools of Robison-Anton rayon thread, Superior’s Fine Line thread for machine quilting, and in recent months I have been buying thread from Connecing Threads. In a drawer next to my thread rack I have several spools of metallic thread. I machine quilt for others, so I need a large variety.

  468. Karen Misner says:

I have yet to find the thread I didn’t have to have! I have silks, polys, rayons, cotton and specialties galore. They all serve a purpose and you just cannot have enough:)

  469. Donna Pheneger says:

I have a thread rack too but it’s getting to be empty as I’m only buying thread needed for different projects. I’ve thrown out old ones that are either too thin or too old. Not sure how long thread lasts but I think ten years is too old. :-D

  470. Jamie P says:

My stash is pretty small. I keep it in an old Easter basket next to my sewing maching. I rarely have the color I need, but usually just make due with what I have.

  471. elizabeth says:

I love the varigated threads for quilting, I use cotton thread for piecing. My stash is only as large as the storage space will allow.

  472. Bridget says:

I’ve got my thread on racks on the inside of the closet door. You have to keep the colors out to display so you can grab the right one or get lost in thought amongst the pretty! I’ve always wished Sulky had a keychain punch card so I knew what colors I needed!

  473. Shirley C. says:

I have a large stash of thread, I use signature on my hq16. I like to use different colors and kind of thread when I quilt small items on my bernina.

  474. Sandy Humphreys says:

I have lots of threads, all colors, but always buy more for a new project. I never seem to have the right weight or color for any new project I start.

  475. Zina says:

My fabric collection is much more extensive than my thread collection. I have mostly cotton quilting threads, but a few decorative threads to embellish purses with. I am madly in love with anything variegated!

  476. Linda S. Richardson says:

I have a Madeira chest embroidery thread set, from when I purchased all 6 of my Koala Cabinets for my new sewing room. My husband had to add on a 950′ addition to our home in order to accomodate my ever reproducing stash! Thanks for the giveaway!

  477. Merna says:

I have a big thread stash. I just can’t pass up thread. I do machine embroidery and I quilt. I have a big fabric stash too but there is always room for more. I love crafts.

  478. Janet says:

I have many threads…Sulky, Madeira, Aurifil, Gutterman, Mettler. In all types….cotton, polyester, rayon, mettallic, monofil. After making quilts for nearly 30 years, I know which I like for each type of project. I don’t do embroidery…only quilts. I have been known to “work for thread & fabric” at a favorite quilt shop! Thanks for the chance to add to my thread stash!

  479. Judy says:

I have a lot of thread, mostly old, from garage sales etc. I know it is not the best to sew and quilt with. My income is limited so I must make do with what I have. I would love to win this.

  480. Dawn says:

I have around 30 spools of Essential thread and several small spools of “whatever” brands. I wish I had more variegated thread (sigh). I don’t machine embroider, but would love to own a machine someday :)

  481. When I bought my embroidery machine, I bought a box of thread off Ebay. The thread is poor quality and breaks easily when I try to use it. I have found that it is smart to use better quality thread – but I can’t bring myself to get rid of the thread. Someday I may need it……

  482. Sharon says:

My thread stash is pretty minimal. I have just started doing a lot of sewing and quilting so I am slowly building it up. I would love to win this and get a start on sulky threads! They are so pretty!

  483. Elizabeth Tornblom says:

I bought a box of assorted threads from Ebay a couple of years ago, when I purchased my new Bernina 830, but my experience with quality is the same as a previous poster’s .. it breaks easily, so I haven’t really used much of it. I’m desperate to replace it with higher quality threads so that I can really start to fully enjoy the embroidery features of this wonderful machine. So far I haven’t been able to do much of that because of the thread issues and I’ve got a ton of designs and patterns lined up, waiting to be stitched out.

  484. Cathy Koester says:

Too much neutrals, not enough colors. Love to win!

  485. Lisa says:

My thread stash is very, very small. Makes me sad…

  486. jo smith says:

I live on an island with only a small market as retail. I have a fairly large assortment of threads, for myself and to share with a small group of fellow quilters.

  487. Bonnie says:

My thread stash is small as I buy as I need. I do have much DMC floss since I have done counted cross stitch. Right now I am using a Sulky variegated thread to do some embroidery. I love working with it.

  488. Kristi Brown says:

I have a thread spindle rack that came from my Grandma. I have not used the thread off this rack since I received it as a gift when she passed away 3 years ago. There are many colors, some shiny some dark but all beautiful knowing she was the last one to use each one of them.

  489. Heidi F says:

My thread stash is on the small side. I usually just buy colors as I need them for projects. I do keep plenty of white/cream/black on hand though.

  490. Sandra McCormick says:

I’ve recently retired and plan to do a lot of sewing and quilting. I have a very nice Bernina Machine and some fabrics. A good selection of threads would just about make my sewing plans become a reality. Hope I win. Thanks for having this give-away.

  491. Charlotte H. says:

I love the thread. I always stock up when it is on sale.

  492. Cathy Good says:

I NEED some new threads; I’m more of a fabricholic and don’t give thread much thought. Maybe if I had an assortment I’d get into it more. Thanks!

  493. Patty Happel says:

Love thread! Have lots and lots in various brands. I tend to buy lots of whatever brand is on sale and, luckily, my Brother embroidery/sewing machine is not picky

  494. Mary Jo says:

I t surely won’t take long to describe my thread stash! I buy poly-cotton thread at a giant retailer whenever I need some! I have a pegboard rack on the wall that my Daddy made for me about 38 years ago and I have a few spools on it! I REALLY need some “experimental” thread to play with!!

  495. Jen E says:

I love thread!! I always look for something new and unusual to add to my projects. I like to have a good assortment of different types in case I decide to create something on the spur of the moment.

  497. Dianne says:

I don’t have a very large thread stash, just the basic colors for pieceing. I do however love sulky thread for machine applique and have started a collection just for that. I could use more!

  498. Holly Wood says:

Pick me! I’m a young person who will help keep quilting ALIVE! :)

  499. Katy says:

My thread stash is pretty sad. I really only buy what I need and have basic black, white, tan and grey! There are a few other random colors left over from other projects too.

  500. Brenda says:

I’ve got lots of leftover Guterman and Coats from garment sewing and 10 or so spools of Aurifil for my new sewing machine, which doesn’t like the poly threads. Thread is what makes my machine go, so I’d love to win some of yours. thanks for the giveway. Here’s hoping a last minute entry is lucky.

  501. racheal robinson says:

I used to get frusturated while sewing. My machine would sound awful, jam up and make my “fun” hobbie into a headache. Then about 13 years ago I attended a sulky class. It came with a small assortment of fancy threads. I was hooked!! It changed my sewing! I recently started quilting and I go through SOOO much more thread than my garment/craft projects ever did. I would love to win a “stash”!!!! I have to put projects on hold now until I hit a sale and can afford to buy the thread that I know will make my projects have that extra special touch! It would be such a treasure to have a adequate supply whenever I need it! Thank You!

  502. Katie Wilson says:

My thread collection includes those beautiful Sulky rayon and metallic threads, but there are never too many! I use Masterpiece and Aurifil for piecing, along with bottom line. I love variegated threads for quilting, especially King tut and YLI. Such yummy colors. And I do have a few spools of hand-quilting thread left over from a previous lifetime!

  503. Grammy Peggy says:

    Thread I have:
    1. A buy in bulk size pickle jar full of all purpose threads.
    2. A plastic tote full of Maxi lock. 3. A rack of embroidery thread plus an over flow– coats n clark mostly with a few sulky
    3. A vintage sewing basket full of vintage spools of thread (wood spools) that I have collected.
    4. 2 spools of quilting thread – I have just finished my first quilt!!

There is no such thing as too much thread or fabric or patterns or . . .

Because I am collecting for my offspring who sew now and those who will sew in days to come!

  504. Judy Chambers says:

My thread stash can be described as paltry, puny, pathetic. I have a few spools so old, they are on wooden spools. Now how old is that. If it wasn’t for my friend and her stash, I’d be on the road to the store constantly. Man, I need my own 21st century threads so I can see what I could do! Both of my quilting friends have loads of thread, and then there’s me. I really need to catch up to them and quit borrowing!

  505. Pat V. says:

I don’t have much of a stash, just several spools of the neutral colors I usually use for piecing. I’d like to experiment with some decorative top-stitching sometime soon (but I’ll need some thread…)

  506. KT. in MI says:

Have about 20 spools, mostly the neutrals for piecing. Would love to try some of the colorful and variegated threads to enhance quilting.

  507. LAURA says:

I machine embroider and have the Madeira chest which is fabulous! Then I have various Brother, Sulky, Mettler aqnd odd Madeira threads as well as some beautiful glossy spools my husband bought me when in India!! I LOVE thread almost as much as fabric. Hehe.

  508. Evelene Sterling says:

I have a small stash compared to others, it is 15 spools only:(
I would love to win to build up my stash. Thanks for a chance to win.

  509. Shelly Womack says:

My thread stash? My threads are strictly a component. My fabric; a formality! Together it’s Pomp and circumstance!!

  510. Jessica says:

I have a drawer and a half of sulky threads for my embroidery projects! All sorts of colors, and I love the varigated ones!

I have a drawer of random coats & clark that I use for piecing/quilting.

=) come on random number generator!!

  511. PageZ says:

I have mostly vintage thread adn some contemporary thread in neutral colors. I would SO love to win this giveaway b/c I am wanting to start quilting and embroidery (:

  512. Maureen Flax says:

I have quite a bit of thread, most of it is too old to use. Why do I keep it??? I would really appreciate this giveaway!

  513. Jan Sheets says:

*I have mostly Coats Dual-Duty + Machine quilting thread + Upholstery thread + Bobbin thread + Multicolor (varigated) Cotton + Metallic.
*I also have SULKY Cotton, Polyester & Metallic.
    *I have Gutermann Cotton
    *Mettler Metrosene Polyester
It may sound like a lot of thread but I only actually have about 25 spools in all. I would love to win some in this contest to increas my stash!
I do machine embroidery but without an embroidery machine. I use my free motion foot and guide it myself to make my version of machine embroidery.

  514. CathyC in Alberta says:

I have about 100 or more spools of thread…mostly cotton of various weights. I would love to win some Sulky as have recently gotten into doing more machine quilting and applique. Used to hand quilt or send my tops out for the machine quilting.

  515. KathyD says:

I love thread. My guess is I have have well over 500 spools. Mostly embroidery poly and rayon. I have some Sulky 12 wt and 30wt for quilting and I like there metalics. More thread is always a guilty pleasure!!!

  516. Susan Means says:

Oh my gosh!! I have more thread than I care to count. I have embroidery thread, serger thread, sewing thread, hand quilting thread, longarm quilting thread, and the list goes on. Of course I never have the right color I need either !!!!!!!

  517. Debi T says:

I have all kinds of threads from embroidery rayon to quilting cotton, twisted colors to everyday sewing thread. I even have some old spools from my mom and grandma.

  518. Diane says:

My thread stash is growing as I do more and more applique! So much to choose from!!

  519. Tamara Carr says:

I really don’t have alot of usable thread. I may have maybe 4 or 5 spools of usable thread. I have alot of the older wooden spools in my older blue ball jars from my grandma. I am new to quilting, my machine does a few fancy stiches i am wanting to try out and this would be perfect! It would be nice to finally win something!

  520. Rita W in Kearney says:

My thread stash is pretty small compared to many of my friends. It is an area where I must focus so that the fabric stash does not get too big an ego. I LOVE the Sulky threads. They shine, sew well, and really polish up a project. Thanks for the chance to win some.

  521. Carol Vickers says:

Until recently, I’ve not thought of thread in terms of a “stash” — just fabric. But I’ve accumulating a variety and would love to win some!!!!

  522. Marie D. says:

Most of my thread stash was gifted to me by my uncle after my aunt (his wife) died. Some of it is on wooden spoons and most of it is probably between 20 and 50 years old. This is the reason I started to quilt. I feel I need to use it, but it doesn’t always suit my purpose. A new stash of Sulky would be very welcome.

  523. Leah Davis says:

When I first bought my embroidery machine, my husband surprised me with 100 spools of Robison-Anton rayon embroidery thread. I added to that stash with Sulky metallics, twist, variegated and also Superior variegated. I have 2 large hanging thread holders (that each hold more than 100 spools of thread) and they are both full.

  524. Sally Turner says:

Hmmmm, yes I guess you could call it a “stash”. I love threads as much as I love fabrics. Been sewing since I was about 9 or 10. Couldn’t wait to retire so I could get back to quilting. I was introduced to Sulky threads when I bought my Bernina [in preparation for retiring] and fell in love with it and the wide range of colors and types. “Harriet” was a wonderful teacher and loved, loved Sulky! She showed us how to do everything with it. So I began to buy it every time I was near a store that carried it….but then it gets used up so fast…..It sews so beautifully and the colors are so great! I never have as much as I would like…sew constantly and always need new colors, etc. What a joy it would be to win some once! Here’s hoping……….Sally

  525. Tammy Hempel says:

My thread stash is quite pitiful!! I think IF I stretch it maybe 10 spools. I would really enjoy having a big stash!!~ I would not know what to do first!! he he thank you for this giveaway!!

  526. Jennifer T. in WI says:

What?! I’m supposed to have a thread stash? Let’s see…there’s tan, grey, off-white, ecru and black plus one spool of King Tut (purchased last Friday).

  527. Pam Vercellono says:

I have been using Sulky thread since the first home embroidery machines came out! I own the threadbox full of the original spools of rayon, have another larger box of the 12 wts., variegated, and cottons, and of course, the slivers, and metallics! LOVE THEM ALL!!! I’ve told my husband, if there’s ever a fire…SAVE THE THREAD!

  528. Mom C says:

I have several boxes of embroidery thread, I don’t use as much of it as I used to. Lately, I’ve been buying the larger spools so I don’t run out of thread as often. I get in sewing mode and use all the spools I have that remotely match then I go stock up again. It’s either feast or famine as far as my thread is concerned.

  529. Claudia says:

My machine loves Sulky (behaves well) and so do I. Of course, we have room for more–Sulky!

  530. angela d. says:

I have probably 30-40 spools of thread – mostly cotton. I use it mostly for quilting and making bags. I do make some clothes too. I don’t embroider though. thanks for the opportunity!

  531. Amy C says:

I have to confess, I haven’t tried Sulky since I purchased my Bernina. I use lots of Superior Masterpiece and King Tut threads. I also have several spools of Mettler thread because that is what is readily available in this area. I do like to embroidery since I purchased my Bernina. My dealer sells Isacord thread for embroidery.

  532. Kathie Bugbee says:

My thread stash is nothing like most I’ve read here :( I could really use some to beef it up in my sewing room :) I have some, grey, white, black and beige. k.bugbee@att.net

  533. Cathryn H says:

My thread stash is a combination of colors and various kind of threads. Mostly I have white, tan, grey, and black for piecing quilts. Then I have various colors for doing the quilting by machine.

  534. rose says:

Sadly lacking even one 100 yrd roll of silky Sulky, mainly bits and bobs of other brands, mostly inherited or picked out in discounts baskets. My mother and were only saying yesterday after I had been to the shop to purchase a small quantity, just how much thread costs…but without it nothing much happens so we find the money somewhere!

  535. Donna K. from N. TX says:

Missed the deadline, darn it. Could use some wonderful Sulky thread!
