What’s Happening in Houston
The time always flies by when we’re here because there is so much to see and do. On Thursday we presented what’s called a Schoolhouse session to shop owners and designers. We had a good crowd and gave away a quilt top and several other top-notch prizes, all geared to helping promote Quiltmaker.
At the same time, other people and companies promoted their products and ideas to us. I won a basket of fabulous Michael Miller fabrics from their newest lines. The colors are wonderful and the images are of vintage camper-trailers, metal lawn chairs and garden gnomes.
Aren’t they adorable? I’m a vintage junkie so I know I’ll find something wonderful to do with these. It might even turn up in the pages of Quiltmaker.
Later in the day I went to a Schoolhouse session by Lonni Rossi, a fabric designer for Andover Fabrics. She’s debuting a new line called Lonni’s Elegant Universe. I received a packet of fat quarters as a promotional treat:
The possibilities are dancing in my head!
This morning my first event was an editors’ reception hosted by Clover USA. Clover makes innovative, high-quality notions of all sorts. Already this year they have introduced 72 new products. Another 50 are planned for 2010. We saw demonstrations of the latest products in use, including the Trace & Create bag templates by Nancy Zieman, a wonderfully creative idea.
Now I’m off to look for more interesting products that will interest and benefit Quiltmaker readers!
