I like Guterman for most basic sewing, but I also like Sulky when working on thin shiny fabrics, I also use Coats and Clark and Metrosene for much of my basic work. Would love to see my thread on one of those cute holders!

I like Gutermann 100% cotton - it is strong and glides through the fabric. I don't end up with frayed thread snapping on me as I get to the end. I use it both hand sewing and machine stitching.

Please enter me in your drawing for the coneflowers. My favorite is Mettler thread - especially silk finish ... would like to try Aurifil and Guttermann but not available in a local shop (that am aware of...). Usually end up with C&C because our local big-box carries it but don't like how it shreds, knots, and lints.

Looks like I agree with most entries. I love Gutermann, Mettler and Aurifil. They always run smoothly and cause no machine issues. They don't break, or have lots of lint. I bought a bunch of C&C embroidery thread to try, hope it works out for me. I have been going thru my thread stash and will only use their threads for hand basting as it breaks, and the lint factor is horrible!

For piecing I like Gutermann, gives a nice consistent stitch, less breakage, and less lint in and out of the machine, . I bet their spools would fit perfect on Paul's thread holder.

My favorite thread is Mettler all cotton. It really does leave less thread dust in my machine. I wouldn't sew without it! The coneflowers are beautiful!

GUTERMAN, and the threads that are metallic--all brands! I was told 10 years ago how the "lint" could really gum up parts in the machine, so the above quilters/artists are correct with all the comments they left and I also loved their tips about threads, too. Lovely coneflowers, by the way~!
