QM’s Sept/Oct ‘09 Color Option Giveaway

Our Sept/Oct ‘09 issue started shipping from the printer yesterday. That means it will begin to arrive in subscriber mailboxes soon. I wonder what part of the U.S. will get their issues first? We haven’t received our initial copies yet in the office. It’s scheduled to be on newsstands by August 11. In the meantime, QM staff is getting all the web pages ready to launch by the end of this week.

When you get your issue, you’ll notice in my edit letter that I’m giving away a 45.5″ x 45.5″ color option!

Shining Star Color Option Sept/Oct '09

It’s from the Shining Star pattern, designed by Joyce Robinson. Our color option uses Cambridge Square, a Quest for a Cure fabric by Ro Gregg for Northcott, plus fabric for the binding and backing.

How do you get a chance to win? It’s simple–just leave a comment here mentioning your favorite project in the Sept/Oct ‘09 issue by 12 noon Mountain time on Friday, October 2. I’ll use random.org to select one winner. Good luck everyone!

Update: Our initial box of first-bound copies arrived in the office Friday 7/24. I think magazines should be starting to arrive for some subscribers soon. Most of our web pages for the issue are live now, although we still have a few to post.

Update #2: This giveaway is closed–Congratulations to Vickie #126.

Wow- didn’t know you were quilting again- great quilt

2 Lisa N { 07.24.09 at 9:39 am }

What a beautiful quilt! If I win, I will give it to my sister because she loves blue. So do I but it’s her color. When we were sorting our mom’s precious glassware, my sister got anything blue and I got anything red. So it continues in fun! Thanks!

I am so looking forward to step2 in the mystery. It’s hard to wait….sylvia

4 Rebecca { 07.24.09 at 12:39 pm }

I think the easy to predict that my favourite project will be the second step of the Christmas Lights Mystery. I usually love all the projects, but I am already looking forward to this one.

5 Karen { 07.24.09 at 2:50 pm }

I subscribed just so I could get Bonnie’s Christmas Lights mystery. But I’m glad I did subscribe. I like the magazine so far. Hope to see more of Bonnie in it.

6 Patty { 07.24.09 at 3:31 pm }

I’m also looking forward to the next step of the Christmas Lights mystery. Plus every pattern is great too, wish I could make them all.

Please enter me for the giveaway. I’ve just put you on my favorites.

8 Kim { 07.25.09 at 7:09 am }

You know it was a great issue…..I love all things Bonnie Hunter…so “Christmas Lights” was my favorite, that being said there are 2 other projects from that issue that are on my “to do list”. You ladies keep up the fun creative work…..well done !

I am most looking forward to step two of the Christmas Lights mystery by Bonnie Hunter. Thanks for the opportunity to win! Good luck everyone!

10 Lisa N { 07.25.09 at 7:04 pm }

My favorite article is Bonnie Hunter’s Christmas Lights mystery quilt. I am almost finished with Part 1 and can’t wait for Part 2 in the next Quiltmaker issue.
Thanks!

11 Sallie McCauley { 07.26.09 at 4:33 am }

I forgot to mention my favorite project! that will have to be Bonnie’s Christmas Lights.

love the cover quilt–Argylle Revisited, especially the couched yarn. Also love the fun quilt option with rickrack used on the diagonals. Just used jumbo rickrack on a baby quilt for my first grandbaby, due in August.

13 Donna { 07.28.09 at 12:09 pm }

My Sep/Oct issue arrived in today’s mail, and I’m already excited about several projects. Blue’s my favorite color, but I am especially drawn to “Great Balls of Fire.” I love the bright colors and the circular effect. I took a pineapple class at NQA a couple of years ago. I can’t wait to tackle this pattern!

14 Barbara { 07.28.09 at 3:25 pm }

I just received your Sept/ Oct. issue – and it is a close race to choose my favorite project, but I think the off-center pineapple quilt “Great Ball of Fire” wins, followed closely by Bonnie’s X-mas mystery quilt. Thank you for the opportunity and good luck to everybody!

15 Nora Brofford { 07.28.09 at 9:31 pm }

Really liked Any Witch Way wall hanging.It is very original.

16 Kaye Tracewell { 07.29.09 at 7:45 am }

I just got my Sept/Oct issue yesterday. I have been poring over it ever since. There are so many projects that I want to do but I must admit, I was instantly drawn to “To the Rescue”. My 3 year old grandson loves firetrucks, just had a real firetruck at his birthday party and also just moved into his “big boy room”. This wallhanging will make a great addition.

17 Michele { 07.29.09 at 3:56 pm }

The Argyle Revisited quilt comes at the right time. My first child is heading off to college in the fall. And it will make a great addition to her ’school supplies’. Thanks again for all the inspiration.

18 Nancy { 07.29.09 at 4:29 pm }

Just received my issue today and even though there are a few very interesting quilt patterns, I think my favorite is the Earth, Wind and Water table runner. I’m also interested in maybe starting the Christmas Lights series. Thanks!

19 Susan { 07.29.09 at 5:47 pm }

I LOVE the “Shining Star” project and pattern in the September/October ‘09 Quiltmaker magazine. I am going to make this quilt for MY bed! I have always made quilts for everyone else and professionally quilt for everyone, so this one I’m doing for ME. Am I selfish??? I will make it in batiks — purples/blues/greens, however because those are my favorite colors (soothing to me). I like the “Heavenly Star” option also as a crib quilt. I appreciate your alternate sizing directions for a queen size quilt. The directions for this look and sound simple–maybe I’ll even finish the quilt in a week!!!??? Thanks so much!!!

20 Virginia Hendricks { 07.29.09 at 5:50 pm }

I absolutely adore the Argyle Revisited quilt. Gorgeous colors!

21 Janet Parde { 07.29.09 at 6:18 pm }

I think the Great Ball of Fire is wonderful with the bright colors, but I also like Any Witch Way and the mystery by Bonnie Hunter Christmas LIghts and……. well, it would be nice if I could make up my mind!!

22 Jean Thut { 07.29.09 at 9:18 pm }

It’s July 29th here in sunny Northern California and I just received my September/October issue of Quiltmaker. Winding Road is a beautiful quilt and looks like the perfect answer for all of the Civil War prints we all seem to collect. But then the Shining Star Quilt is a beauty and I can see it made in a number of fabric color-ways. The blue version is beautiful and would be a wonderful addition to my little collection of quilts. The best part is knowing that the proceeds from the fabric purchased will go towards a good cause.

23 Lisa G { 07.30.09 at 3:55 am }

Alot of great quilts in the latest issue! I would have to say my favorite is the Argyle Revisited – - love it!

24 Theresa Camp { 07.30.09 at 7:35 am }

I received my subscription today and immediately sat down to read it…my favorite is Great Ball of Fire…but I’m most likely to make the Shining Star..love your magazine!

25 Lori { 07.30.09 at 10:30 am }

I have to say my favorite pattern in the Sept./Oct. ‘09 issue is “Any Witch Way.” We had the opportunity to see “Wicked” several years ago and this reminds me of the play. I am putting it on my list of projects for Halloween. Thanks for a great magazine!

26 Jane V { 07.30.09 at 10:45 am }

Love the Any Witch Way pattern. How cute with the snails trail design used to intertwine the hats. Great job Marilyn Larson!

27 Dorene Morris { 07.30.09 at 11:31 am }

So many quilts – I’m partial to the Shining Star quilt – in both colors shown and can envision it in other colors, too.

28 Carrie P. { 07.30.09 at 1:40 pm }

I just got my issue yesterday and my favorite project that I would love to do is Aspen Grove. I love trees

29 Ellyn { 07.30.09 at 2:53 pm }

mine just came today! I love Any Witch Way! what a fun fun quilt!

30 Margaret Gagnon { 07.30.09 at 4:59 pm }

Love your magazine. My first full size quilt was from QuiltMaker in the 80″s. Still wait for each new issue. Love the “To the Rescue” for my nephew’s baby, Dad is a fireman.

31 Margaret Gagnon { 07.30.09 at 5:01 pm }

Great magazine

32 Loretta Neaves { 07.30.09 at 6:26 pm }

This is right on time – I’ve been in a delima about a baby quilt for a new baby boy and To The Rescue is just perfect for the first son of a volunteer Fireman. I can’t wait to get started. And the give away is beautiful a magnificent addition to anyones repertoire.

33 Carolyn Thalman { 07.30.09 at 6:53 pm }

I can’t wait to get to work on Part 2 of Bonnie Hunter’s Christmas Lights.

34 Charmaine { 07.30.09 at 9:36 pm }

My favorite pattern in the Sept./Oct. issue is a tie between Autumn Dreams and Bonnie Hunter’s Christmas Lights mystery pattern. Actually, I like ALL the patterns in this issue! Keep up the good work :)

35 Peg Spradlin { 07.31.09 at 11:23 am }

I love “Winding Road”. I’m in awe of the talented people who come up with the quilt designs.

36 Latrelle { 07.31.09 at 11:31 am }

I really like Quiltmaker magazine. The couched yarn on the cover quilt is a really neat idea. I would really like to win the quilt. You have so many pretty quilts, you can’t make them fast enough. Latrelle

37 Grace C. Anderson { 07.31.09 at 12:27 pm }

I love most of the ones that aren’t to hard to make because I’m a
slow quiltemaker, but I love to do it.

38 Cathy { 07.31.09 at 3:15 pm }

I’m in love with all of the projects, but I really want to make the Greta Ball of Fire Quilt. It’s fabulous! I also plan to make the cute folk art fruit pin keeps. Thanks for a great magazine. Hope I win!

39 Karin { 07.31.09 at 4:32 pm }

So many great choices, but I love anything autumn so my favorite would have to be Autumn Dreams. I love the concept for Aspen Grove and would like to try that and the colors in Great Ball of Fire are terrific. What can I say, I love your magazine.

40 Brenda Rithmire { 07.31.09 at 5:41 pm }

Several projects peaked my interest, but Great Ball of Fire is my favorite.

41 Chris Blencoe { 07.31.09 at 7:22 pm }

I just got my issue today and had to sit down and look it over first thing. The one that caught my eye and is my favorite in this issue is “Great Ball of Fire”. It is stunning! It’s going on my list of quilts I want to make.
I hope I win!

42 Amy Bevilockway { 07.31.09 at 8:50 pm }

Just received my copy today. So many great projects to choose from. I agree with Chris, “Great Ball of Fire” is fantastic. The color choices were right up my alley too. But I really love “Under a Harvest Moon”. The garden is in fully swing and the pumpkins are coming on so I may have to make this adorable quilt.
I would love to win the top too!

43 Ursula Johnston { 07.31.09 at 10:43 pm }

Received my copy today. I was looking forward to Part 2 of Christmas Lights — but Great Ball of Fire blew me away! Loved the design and the colors! Also love the blue version of Shining Star.

44 Peg Farrell { 08.01.09 at 9:33 am }

Hands down, my favorite in this issue is “Great Ball of Fire.” It’s simply stunning!

I also liked Carolyne McCauley’s version of “Falling Leaves” (last page). I had saved that pattern, but had hesitated because I always have blue somewhere in the quilts I make for my dining room*. And now Carolyne has given me a great idea! Thanks for sharing, Carolyne, and thanks for publishing it, Quiltmaker!

*Please enter me in the contest for the blue version of “Shining Star.” Thanks!

45 jhenry1 { 08.01.09 at 9:48 am }

Love the colors. So beautiful.

46 Mary { 08.01.09 at 9:49 am }

There are so many to choose from but I love the idea of couching yarn in the Argyle Revistited. I love finding new ways to embelish quilts.

47 Nancy { 08.01.09 at 10:19 am }

Finally had time to sit down and enjoy my latest issue. I’m especially drawn to Any Witch Way. I have a feeling my 25 year old daughter( and her three best friends) would love to see it hanging on her wall!

48 densews { 08.01.09 at 10:30 am }

Love more than one but the Harvest Keeps are perfect for right now in the middle of summer. Good project for a nice cool spot.

49 Kathy Wagner { 08.01.09 at 10:38 am }

I am really looking forward to making the Great Ball of Fire quilt in the Sept/Oct issue. I recently did quite a bit of paper piecing and loved it. The colors are beautiful and it should be lots of fun.

50 Jo Tennyson { 08.01.09 at 11:14 am }

I loved most all of the quilts! Any Witch Way is so cute, and the Argyle Revisited is really neat. I wanted to make the Winding Road in the alternate setting, but have not been able to download (hope to figure it out). I love the blue Shining Star.

51 Linda Woodhams { 08.01.09 at 6:09 pm }

Just received my issue today – can’t wait to the the Great Balls of Fire — my favorite in this issue. To the Rescue is also on my to do list for my grandson.

52 Barbara Firesheets { 08.01.09 at 6:41 pm }

Please enter me in the giveaway. Quiltmaker is one of my favorite subscriptions. Great variety of projects and skill levels. My favorite project in this issue is Great Ball of Fire — it’s definitely on my “to do” list!!

53 Bridget La Rose { 08.01.09 at 6:56 pm }

I just love ‘Any Witch Way’. I can’t believe those witches have ‘real’ false eyelashes. I’m off to pick out my fabrics, that will be the first project I tackle.

54 Darcene Kendall { 08.01.09 at 9:56 pm }

I just love Winding Road and I have a great stash of Kansas Troubles fabrics that will be just perfect for this project.

55 Kathy { 08.02.09 at 4:59 am }

Yeah! The new issue arrived yesterday and I can’t wait to make the Any Witch Way quilt. I’ve been thinking about it since we saw the sample at Castle Rock Quilt Club two months ago. Thanks for the neat patterns.

56 Becky { 08.02.09 at 5:45 am }

Thanks for the chance to win the color way option. I connected with the Shining Star quilt. Not only is it a beautiful quilt but the inspiration stands out.

57 Donna { 08.02.09 at 6:46 am }

I’d love to win the quilt — even more is the chance to win and the excitement of participating. I think my favorite thing in the Sept./Oct. magazine is the Great Ball of Fire quilt. I want to make it right away but I think I should finish making Sweet Pea Sonata from the March/April issue first. I seem to have so little time to sew and sooooo many projects in the works and waiting in the wings. Oh, well, this one will simply have to wait in the wings until I finish at least one of my WIPs! You have a very inspirational magazine; I’m always excited to see the new one in the mailbox. When the new one comes, I simply have to sit down and give it a quick glance. Later in the day, I read it from cover to cover at least once and then call my sister to tell her about all the neat ideas. Thanks for the opportunity to win this beautiful colorway option.

58 Margie Oeltjenbruns { 08.02.09 at 12:27 pm }

Fun simple and traditional but happy quilt patters are for me.

Harvest keeps, is one I am starting right away for gifts, hopefully I’ll find the orther pictures fruits and makes those too. Guess what I just found them in the pattern section, duh. I am also into boarders to give my simple traditional quilts some pazzaz.
thank you

59 Cecilia Young { 08.02.09 at 12:38 pm }

I really like the Shining Star in your Sept./Oct. issue. In fact, I really like all of the quilts in the issue. :) Thanks for such a good magazine and for the chance to win the quilt top.

60 Judy C in NC { 08.02.09 at 3:04 pm }

I am a Bonnie Hunter fan and we both live in NC so Christmas Lights is definitely my favorite. Please enter me in the give away for your most beautiful blue quilt. Quiltmaker is my favorite magazine. Thank you from Judy C in NC
www. judyandmartyn@nc.rr.com

61 Nancy { 08.03.09 at 8:00 am }

I just love the Shining Star quilt. My granddaughter is getting married in October and I am trying to get it done for her gift. Just love the Queen size directions.

62 Kristin { 08.03.09 at 9:26 am }

My favorite quilt in the Sept/Oct 09 issue is the Argyle Revisited. My daughter just loves anything argyle. This quilt will make a great Christmas gift!

63 Charla { 08.03.09 at 11:25 am }

In the new issue I am totally taken with the Aspen Grove quilt! Reminds me of growing up in Colorado!

64 Deb { 08.03.09 at 11:37 am }

My Sept/Oct issue came on Saturday. What fun to flip through and see all the great quilts! Even though I’m not hugely into Halloween “Any Witch Way” put a smile on my face. Love the brights combined with black and white and the eyelashes :)

65 Elizabeth { 08.03.09 at 1:15 pm }

My very favorite quilt in this issue is the blue-and-white color option of Shining Star. ;-) Blue is my favorite color, especially when paired with white!!!!! My 2nd favorite – and the one I’m most likely to make – is “To the Rescue.” I have 2 little boys, and they would LOVE this one! I’d have to add a police car, though, to get all 3 of kinds of “rescue” vehicles. BTW, this issue arrived at my home in Oklahoma in Monday, August 3.

66 Marian { 08.03.09 at 1:19 pm }

I like the Autumn Dreams one because it is SO cute! It has a crow scarer, and little houses, and a tree, and it looks like it’s dark. I also like the borders, and I like the stars in the corners by the picture. (As dictated to Mommy by Marian, age 6, and a quilter wannabee!)

67 Evelyne Lehenbauer { 08.03.09 at 1:51 pm }

I am new to this web-site, I have been getting the quiltmaker for several years, I like all the quilts, my favorite is shining star, I have made several star quilts and I always pick out another one. Thanks for all your patterns.

68 Janice { 08.03.09 at 3:02 pm }

My favorite project by far is Great Ball of Fire. I love traditional patterns with a twist to make the fresh and modern. Keep ‘em coming!

69 Susan { 08.03.09 at 4:19 pm }

Hard to pick just one favorite from this issue – I love the Christmas Lights mystery throw I started last issue, but it is only part 2 of 3 so my favorite complete quilt in this issue is Any Witch Way – Can be finished by Halloween to display to visitors – a great companion to the intertwined/snails tail black cats wallhanging I made a few years back!
Great Ball of Fire is terrific and I know I will be making the Shining Star in honor of our breast/ovarian cancer patients out of the quest for a cure fabrics. Thanks for another terrific issue andf for the chance for winning the wonderful Quest for a Cure Quilt top!

70 Sue Goodin { 08.03.09 at 8:35 pm }

I just love “Any Witch Way”. But I must say this is a terrific issue.

71 June { 08.03.09 at 8:46 pm }

Jo–the alternate settings for Winding Road are a pdf file that can be downloaded from this page:
http://www.quiltmaker.com/patterns/details.html?idx=7746.

It’s been great reading everyone’s favorite quilt in this issue–I’m so glad you like it!

72 Valerie { 08.03.09 at 9:10 pm }

Hi
Loved the “Any Witch Way ” pattern. Just painted my bedroom Nantucket Blue ; would love to add the blue quilt top / quilt to the room.

73 Suzy { 08.04.09 at 2:39 am }

Love your magazine. Aspen Grove would be my favorite as I love anything with trees in it. Also Any Witch Way is terrific.

74 Ann Fremont { 08.04.09 at 9:27 am }

In going through this edition, my favorite is To the Rescue. I have a grandson who is crazy about fire trucks and ambulances. He watches the old Emergency shows and just love playing fireman. I must try my hand at foundation piecing and create this for him.

thanks for this edition.

75 Julie Young { 08.04.09 at 11:07 am }

I love receiving your magazine. I think that my favorite quilt in your Sept./Oct. edition would have to be Winding Road. I have been looking for a way to use up my scraps and I loved this one. I also really like Any Witch Way. Thanks

76 Sandi { 08.04.09 at 11:35 am }

My favorite pattern in the S/O issue is the Christmas Mystery. I always have so much fun with these. I’ve done every once since 2001. I think the magazine is wonderful in the way it gives something for every preference and every skill level. I especially like the color/piecing variations with each pattern.

77 Betty Copeland { 08.04.09 at 1:47 pm }

My grandson loves anything to do with firemen so when I saw To the Rescue in the Sept/Oct. 2009 issue I knew this will have to be done for Christmas. I just have to make Any Witch Way. It is adorable. Thanks for the great patterns.

78 Polly Blank { 08.04.09 at 3:04 pm }

I just got my issue of Quiltmaker today in Pensacola FL. Pick me, pick me, for the quilt top.

79 Jessica Porteous { 08.04.09 at 4:44 pm }

I love many of the patterns in this issue! I will probably make just the center square (4 of the foundations) from Great Ball of Fire first. I just bought a selection of fat quarters at a quilt show and I’m looking for a fun project to use them on… and I really like foundation piecing! I may also make a fire truck from To The Rescue for my 3-year-old son, who is my quilting assistant! I’d love to win the quilt top!

80 sydney { 08.05.09 at 12:21 pm }

I like the batik scramble pattern is one I’ll use doing an ‘I Spy” quilt with my grandson. He is seven and REALLY REALLY wants to sew with Grammy. He is one of four sons so time alone with Grammy can be hard but not impossible.

81 Judy { 08.06.09 at 8:03 am }

I love Quiltmaker magazine and can’t wait to get my next magazine in the mail. I read it from cover to cover. It gives me courage to try new projects since I am new to the world of quilting. I love the “Winding Road” pattern and can’t wait to start on it. Also I like the “Shining Star”pattern, maybe someday…

82 Carole Lee { 08.06.09 at 8:37 am }

My favorite quilt is the “Winding Road” and it has so many options for putting it together. I could use up many pieces from my stash on this one!

83 Carla { 08.06.09 at 9:59 am }

I love Any Witch Way. It’s fun to see cute witches, instead of the usual scary, ugly witches.

84 Danna { 08.08.09 at 8:57 am }

Sometimes it is nice to have a simple block design to work on since they go together quickly. My favorite pattern is the Batik Sccramble in the September/October ‘09 issue. Have lots of hand dyes left from a quilt made from a different Quiltmaker issue so will use them with up this way. Thanks for all the hard work you do to put this fun magazine together.

85 Julie { 08.08.09 at 4:13 pm }

I’d like a chance to win the Shining Star quilt top shown in the Sept/Oct 09 issue. My favorite project in this issue is Winding Road. I like the scappy look as well as the many ways the blocks can be put together. Good way to use fabrics from your stash!

86 Jill { 08.08.09 at 7:41 pm }

I like the Autumn Dreams project by Sue Garman. She is a very talented designer.

87 Laurel { 08.08.09 at 10:17 pm }

I think the Winding Road quilt is my favorite, although Any Witch Way and Shining Star also call to me with my sister’s voice — she loves Halloween and anything blue. Thanks for a magazine in which I always find at least three favorites!

88 Kat { 08.09.09 at 6:55 am }

My favorite pattern in the Sept/Oct 09 issue is the Ball of Fire – I’ve never done a pineapple quilt so I’m excited to start this one! Looks like shopping fun!

89 Sue Cahill { 08.09.09 at 7:11 am }

My favorite is Winding Road, I just love scrap quilts and this one is wonderful with all the different settings of the blocks.

90 Judy Blauer { 08.09.09 at 2:50 pm }

Was totally in awe of Great Balls of Fire. I don’t some foundation piecing but before attempting the wonderful quilt, I downloaded the instructions for the tablerunner. That will help me decide, I think. Just joined the online community, happy to be a member.

91 Judy Blauer { 08.09.09 at 2:51 pm }

Well, I guess I should proof read before submitting. I have done some foundation piecing, my post should read. “smile”

92 Rose Martine { 08.09.09 at 5:27 pm }

I would have to say that my fave project in the current issue is “Any Witch Way” by Marilyn Larson. I love the innovative use of the snail’s trail block with the darling witch’s! I want to pick out fabrics right away to create this wallhanging for my granddaughter to hang in her elementary school classroom. I know it will bring a smaile to the kid’s faces around Halloween! Trick or Treat!

93 Dorothy I Dishman { 08.11.09 at 7:14 am }

Of all the quilting magazines, yours nearly always gets me going on new and challenging projects. I took Bonnie Hunters idea of making “leaders & enders” and have been wondering what to do with them –THEN she came out with “Christmas Lights”–I love it and am ready for Part 3-NOW–but it will be a whole month–that means I can make “Balls of Fire” which is spectacular! Thanks for a great tool of a magazine.

94 Mary Flynn { 08.12.09 at 11:14 am }

Christmas Lights Mystery….Bonnie has such wonderful eye for scraps and ease of use!

95 Becky in Georgia { 08.12.09 at 5:36 pm }

My favorite project in the Spt/Oct 09 issue is the scrappy Winding Road quilt. This easy contruction will make a great project. Thanks!

96 Nancy { 08.13.09 at 7:58 am }

I love the “To the rescue” project.

Thanks

97 {C@rol} { 08.14.09 at 1:52 pm }

Loved Bonnie’s Christmas Lights mystery! It’s my favorite holiday anyway. :)

98 mahnaz nikukar { 08.15.09 at 12:56 pm }

i have subscribed quiltmaker magazine lately .
I got the sep/october 2009 issue today .
i think i am the only subscriber of your magazine in iran but i know if the other womenwho like quilting in iran know you
they would be the other sbscribers very soon .
i down load the pattern of Earth , Wind and Water tabel runner just now .
i will sew it soon and send the picture of that as soon as i can .
i like it very much .

99 Deborah Woods { 08.15.09 at 3:25 pm }

The Shining Star is beautiful and I love the blue option. My favorite project in the Sept/Oct issue though would have to be “To The Rescue” as I just seem to be drawn to the quilts for kids. I think that is partly because I am a new quilter and sometimes a bit overwhelmed by the larger quilts. Guess I would have to get over that if I won the contest! I have been buying “Quiltmaker” off the newsstand, but have just entered my new subscription!

100 Suzanne Bove { 08.19.09 at 9:31 am }

I would have to say my favorite project is “Any Witch Way”.
I loved the book Wicked as well and the stage proformance.
I love the blues in your quilt top – they are very restful to me.

101 Barb Losee { 08.21.09 at 7:04 am }

I absolutely LOVE “Any Witch Way” and I am pulling together my fabric today to get started! My daughter and I saw Wicked in New York City and loved it! I would see it again in a heartbeat–the witches DO remind me of the cover of the show brochure and the posters! Please enter my in the giveaway! Thanks!

I love, love, love Great Ball of Fire, and Earth, Wind and Water is a very close second. Great Ball of Fire is a “must do” for me.
I also like Shining Star and am thinking about this pattern for lap quilts for my mom and her two buddies at the nursing home for Christmas gifts. I would love to win this blue one! That would leave only two to make.

The “Shining Star” quilt would be perfect for my daughter’s new blue bedroom! It’s my favorite project this issue, followed by “Great Ball of Fire”. Wow! In reality, I’m most likely to make “To the Rescue” as I love making quilts for babies and kids. Thanks for the chance to win.

Would love to win!!

I hope to make the To The Rescue quilt. I have 5 grandsons. My son their father, is a volunteer fireman. I also like the Any Witch Way and may try to make it in reds for my Red Hat Sisters.

Any Witch Way! Love your magazine and look forward to each issue!

I have started taking my quilty magazines apart and just keeping some of my favorites out of each issue – such as quilting designs and quilt patterns. The quilt patterns I pulled out of the Sep/Oct. Issue are: Winding Road, Shining Star, and Great Ball of Fire. Great Ball of Fire is my favorite – I have never done a Pineapple Block, much less one that is off-center. It has a Storm at Sea feel but with so much move movement. I need a new challenge.

Love the blue color option–that’s my color!

109 Brenda Hinkemeyer { 08.28.09 at 12:05 pm }

Great Ball of Fire.

110 Karen K { 08.28.09 at 12:12 pm }

If I want to keep it for myself, the quilt I’m making will be blue. Any other colors I can give away. I like the Winding Road pattern to help bust some of my stash.

111 Suzanne Brinton { 08.28.09 at 12:59 pm }

My favorite pattern this issue is “Great Balls of Fire”. I’ve been looking for pattern to try out foundation piecing and I believe I have found the unique pattern to give it a try. Thank to Eilene Fowler. Suzanne Brinton

I alway look forward to getting my Quiltmaker magazine. The Shining Star pattern is one of my favorites in this issue. It is hard to pick just one. Each month there is something new to learn.

113 Jackie { 08.29.09 at 6:39 am }

I love patterns depicting nature, hands down the Aspen Grove!

114 Darlene Leahy { 08.29.09 at 8:44 am }

I love to receive your magazine. All the tips are helpful. This month, I especially loved Any Witch Way.

115 Debra Smith { 08.29.09 at 9:47 am }

Too bad I have to pick just one…..I love all of them. The one I may make soon will probably be Any Witch Way. I was born on Oct. 30th, and we like to do up the house for fall and Halloween. The grandsons want football themed quilts.

116 Ginny { 08.30.09 at 3:40 pm }

Awesome quilt! Love all the quilts that are in the issue!

117 Jane { 08.31.09 at 3:56 pm }

I’m itchin’ to make the ‘Autumn Dreams’ in this issue! Will do it after I finish this wedding quilt….
Thanks for a GREAT magazine!

My favorite pattern in the Sep/Oct ‘09 “Quiltmaker” is Any Witch Way…the colors are beautiful. When I look at the center of the quilt I don’t see the hats, but when I look at each witch face I can see the hat even without having to turn the page. It’s very interesting how Marilyn Larson figured that out. I love “Quiltmaker” and have been a subscriber for many years..

It’s gotta be “Any Witch Way” in the current issue.
I love the blue color option. Very, very nice.

120 Vivian { 09.04.09 at 2:11 pm }

Just picked up the September issue today. I really liked the Winding Road quilt — I love scrap quilts. But I also was attracted to the abstract design of Aspen Grove. I like the wallhanging option shown on the website and thought it could be fun to try interpreting the colors to reflect different seasons.

Since I don’t have any monochromatic quilts planned, it would be fun to win the blue Shining Star color option quilt since it is not something I would normally make yet still satisfies my “scrappy” preference.

I love receiving the Quiltmaker magazine. I read it cover to cover when it arrives. This issue I got busy with Christmas Light quilt by Bonnie Hunt.

122 Mary Louise { 09.10.09 at 8:00 am }

Great issue! My favorite pattern was “Argyle Revisited” — I am really drawn to very graphic designs. Thanks for all the good work your team puts out!.

123 Jeanette Stevens { 09.10.09 at 12:32 pm }

My first issue- The Page 34 Autum Dreams is my favorite project.

124 Jeanette Stevens { 09.10.09 at 12:34 pm }

This is my first issue and it is great . My favorite project is Autum Dreams.

125 Hattie Scorof { 09.18.09 at 8:42 pm }

I’m collecting fabrics and printing foundations for Great Ball of Fire! We just finished up our quilt show so now to make more for next year’s show! My favorite color is blue and I love this collection of fabrics. Thank you for sharing.

126 Vickie { 09.24.09 at 11:05 am }

So many possibilities with Winding Roads……..looks like it’s in the running to be our next church raffle quilt. thanks for the great magazine!

127 Ruthie { 09.28.09 at 1:51 pm }

Christmas Lights is my favorite.

128 Cathie Marohn { 09.30.09 at 12:26 pm }

I’d love to win your color option quilt. My faborite pattern in the Sept/Oct ‘op issue is Turtle Stampede–so colorful and fun!

129 Cathie Marohn { 09.30.09 at 12:31 pm }

Okay, so I’m a dolt. Let’s go with the Sept./Oct. 2009 issue (not the 2004 issue–yes I have them all). Any Witch Way is by far the cutest quilt ever! I’m soooo embarassed!!

130 Ardith Sudduth { 10.02.09 at 9:43 am }

I like the Shining Heart pattern. It shows off wonderful Batiks in a very visible pattern. What a great idea– and not too difficult for me because I am always in a “hurry” and like projects that can be completed fairly quickly and quilted with as much or little quilting as I have time.
