Addicted to Scraps: Four Patch Pinwheels with Bonnie Hunter
What do you do with all the scraps you save? “Use them!” declares Bonnie Hunter. In every issue of Quiltmaker, find Bonnie’s ideas for making blocks from your leftovers in Addicted to Scraps!
Bonnie says, “I love blocks that can be quickly made from patches I have on hand in my Scrap User’s System. Four-patches combined with triangle-squares create a clever variation of the Pinwheel block. Play with color and value placement to change the look of this block.”
Finished Block: 6” For one block, cut the following: White Print: 2 squares (A) 2-7/8” x 2-7/8” Black Print: 2 squares (A) 2-7/8” x 2-7/8” 1 square (C) 2H” x 2H” Peach Tone-on-Tone and Green Print from each 8 squares (B) 1-1/2H”x 1-1/2H” Refer to the “Triangle-Squares” technique in Basic Lessons (PDF) and use the white and black A’s to make 4 units.
Sew units and patches together as shown.
Scraps are so versatile! Keep up to date with Bonnie’s scrappy block ideas by never missing an issue of Quiltmaker. Post pictures of your projects made with Bonnie’s blocks using #AddictedToScraps.

Additionally, the center “C” square would need to be cut at 2-1/2″ to finish at 2″.
The 4 patch squares need to be cut out to 1 1/2 “ so they will be 1” finished.
