Kathee Powloka

I have always appreciated the fine art of quilting but only started my own quilts five years ago. My sister-in-law taught me to sew when I was twelve but I only made my own clothes and in later years my children’s clothes. My true love of fabric started with my job at Quiltmaker.

With years of experience as an Administrative Assistant, I knew I would love this position. My work has a wide range of responsibilities and each day is exciting. The best part is talking to our subscribers and hearing what they are doing in the world of quiltmaking. I also have the pleasure of taking care of our fabric room, which consists of removing the discontinued fabrics and adding all the new and beautiful fabrics (some say a quilter's dream.) Along with all the paperwork, which is a large part of my job, I inventory our quilts and the quilts we receive from our contributors. There is so much talent in the quilting world. I love seeing what everyone has created with our patterns.

The arts have always been my true love, second only to my family. I am a photographer, I dabble in drawing, playing guitar and ukulele; together with a passion for travel. My position here at Quiltmaker is perfect for me as it is as diverse as my life and loves.
